Paying attention to the coordination of breathing during martial arts practice can actually distract from the precision of the posture, causing the mind to become unfocused. Because in the beginning, the posture and the routines were not yet proficient, there was no time to pay attention to breathing, and forcing a match might lead to unintended problems. Once the postures and routines are熟练, one must further pay attention to the new conditions of posture and operation, such as the need to coordinate breathing, which can only make the movements rigid, and fall into the problem of "stagnation in Qi" as Wu Yu-xiang mentioned. Therefore, I advocate constantly refining the accuracy of posture and operation while cultivating the Qi, rather than deliberately coordinating breathing with movements.
