23. 因此,在人生之路上,不要背负太重的包袱,要放弃一些不必要的东西,要取舍得当,不要留恋、贪婪一些不现实的东西。虽然路上的风景很美,但你的目标不在此,而在遥远的前方,放弃这里的美景,才能轻松地去实现心中那个不变的信念。
23. Therefore, on the journey of life, do not carry too heavy a burden. Let go of some unnecessary things, make appropriate choices, and do not linger or be greedy for some unrealistic things. Although the scenery along the way is beautiful, your goal is not here, but in the distant future. By giving up the beauty here, you can easily achieve that unchanging belief in your heart.
24. 舍得既是一种处世的哲学,也是一种做人做事的艺术。舍与得就如水与火、天与地、阴与阳一样,是既对立又统一的矛盾概念,相生相克,相辅相成,存于天地,存于人世,存于心间,存于微妙的细节,囊括了万物运行的所有机理。

He had thought that he could realize the ideal that he had always cherished, but little did he expect that he would become a traitor to the court and suffer great misfortune.

29. 从古到今,无数的仁人智士,都是在懂得取舍之道之后,才从默默无闻的小人物成为人人皆知的大人物的。南唐后主李煜治国无方,舍明政之法,得“流水落花春去也,天上人间”之婉约诗赋。苏轼仕途坎坷,于是舍弃安逸闲适的生活,得“大江东去,浪淘尽,千古风流人物”之豪放绝唱。神机妙算诸葛亮自出茅庐,火烧赤壁,三分天下,六出祁山,鞠躬尽瘁,死而后已,是舍弃了私人的利益,得到了流芳百世的美名。
29. Throughout history, countless virtuous and wise individuals have only become universally known after understanding the art of making choices. The last ruler of the Southern Tang Dynasty, Li Yu, failed in his governance, abandoned the path of wise policies, and instead gained the graceful and concise poetry of "As the spring flows away with falling flowers, it is as if in heaven and on earth." Su Shi faced hardships in his career, so he abandoned a life of ease and comfort, and achieved the heroic and free-spirited song of "The great river flows eastward, the waves wash away everything, leaving behind the great figures of the ages." The brilliant and resourceful Zhuge Liang, after leaving his hermitage, burned the Red Cliffs, divided the realm into three, made six expeditions to Qishan, and devoted himself entirely until his death, forsaking personal interests for the sake of a virtuous reputation that would last a thousand years.

The best goal for success is not the one that is the most valuable, but the one that is most likely to be achieved. Not understanding the importance of letting go and persistently seeking the most valuable one will often result in not getting any of them at all.
31. 古时候田忌赛马,用自己的下等马对对手的上等马,用自己的上等马对对手的中等马,用自己的中等马对对手的下等马,在这种得失之间换来了成功。

In ancient times, Tian Ji raced horses and used his inferior horses to compete against his opponent's superior horses, his superior horses against his opponent's medium horses, and his medium horses against his opponent's inferior horses, thereby achieving success through this exchange of gains and losses.
32. 是无为,得就是有为,即所谓“无为而无不为”;儒家认为:舍恶以得仁,舍欲而得圣;而现代人眼里“舍”就是放下,“得”就是成果。其实懂得舍与得的智慧和尺度,就懂得了人生的真谛。我们需要通过“取舍”来丰富人生,在“舍得”中体现智慧,在“舍得”后感悟人生。

It is the way of non-action that leads to action, which is what is referred to as "non-action and yet accomplishing everything"; Confucians believe that giving up evil leads to benevolence, and giving up desires leads to sainthood; while in the eyes of modern people, "giving up" means letting go, and "acquiring" means achievement. In fact, understanding the wisdom and measure of giving up and acquiring is to understand the true meaning of life. We need to enrich our lives through "choosing and giving up," demonstrate wisdom in "giving and acquiring," and gain insight into life after "giving and acquiring."
33. 这位农夫并没有像常人一样为自己丢了一头牛而垂头丧气、愁眉不展,而是用一种常人所不能理解的思想,进入常人所不能理解的境界,从容而又洒脱地把自己之物推及齐人之物,从而得出一国之物没有得与失的道理。
33. This farmer did not, like the common people, become despondent and frown because he had lost a cow. Instead, he entered a realm that the common people cannot understand with an idea that is beyond their comprehension, calmly and freely extending his own possessions to include those of others, and thereby deriving the understanding that there is no gain or loss in the possessions of a nation.
34. 很多人苦苦追求幸福,却找不到通往幸福的路。因为种种烦恼就像遮挡在前面的荆棘,密集葳蕤,让人痛苦。要想找到幸福,就得拔出心中的荆棘。荆棘没有了,原来的地方自然平坦开豁,鸟语花香。
34. Many people strive for happiness but cannot find the path to it. Because various troubles are like thorny brambles blocking the way ahead, dense and luxuriant, causing pain. To find happiness, one must pull out the thorny brambles from within. With the thorns gone, the original place naturally becomes open and clear, with the songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers.
35. 知道上次没有吃完,一直舍不得吃掉,没想到到最后,只能无奈的丢掉。
35. Knowing that the last time I didn't finish it, I couldn't bear to throw it away, I didn't expect that in the end, I could only reluctantly discard it.
36. 清朝大吏林则徐便常说放弃的道理。他以“无欲则刚”为座右铭,为官40年,在权力、金钱、美女之间选择了洁身自好,清正廉明。他在《自定分析家产书》中提道:“田地家产折价三百银有零”、“况目下均无现银可分”,其廉洁之状让人敬佩。他终其一生没有纳妾,这在高官之中也是少见的。林则徐正是舍弃了这些自身的享受,才能在历史上留下美名,让后人敬仰。
36. The great official of the Qing Dynasty, Lin Zexu, often talked about the virtue of giving up. His motto was "Without desires, one is strong," and throughout his 40 years as an official, he chose to maintain his purity and integrity amidst power, money, and beautiful women. In his "Self-Analysis of Property," he wrote: "The value of the land and property is about three hundred silver coins," and "Currently, there is no cash to be divided." His honesty is commendable. Throughout his life, he never took a concubine, which is rare among high-ranking officials. It was precisely by giving up these personal indulgences that Lin Zexu was able to leave a good name in history and earn the respect of later generations.
37. 于是无际大师带青年来到河边,他们坐船过了河。上岸后,大师说:“你扛着船赶路吧!”“什么,扛着船赶路”青年很惊讶,“它那么沉,我扛得动吗”“是的,你扛不动它。”大师微微一笑,说:“过河时,船是有用的。但过河后,我们就要放下船赶路,否则它会变成我们的包袱。痛苦、孤独、寂寞、灾难、眼泪,这些对人生都是有用的。它能使生命得到升华,但须臾不忘,就成了人生的包袱。放下它吧!孩子,生命不能太负重。”
37. So, Master Wuji brought the young man to the riverbank, and they crossed the river by boat. After landing, the master said, "You carry the boat on your way!" "What, carry the boat on my way?" The young man was surprised, "It's so heavy, can I carry it?" "Yes, you can't carry it," the master smiled slightly and said, "The boat is useful when crossing the river. But after crossing, we need to put down the boat and continue our journey, otherwise, it will become a burden to us. Suffering, loneliness, solitude, disasters, tears, these are all useful in life. They can elevate our life, but if we don't let them go, they will become a burden in our lives. Let it go, child, life cannot be too heavy a load."
38. “舍得”有舍就会有得,这应该就是这个词的解释,做人也应该是如此吧。在我们的日常生活学习中,便能体会“舍得”的关系,只有当你有所付出,也就是所谓的“舍”,你就会有“得”的结果;这结果虽然不一定是你所期望的,但它也是你“舍”后的结果,如果你没有“舍”,就不会有“得”;如你没有尊重别人,别人也不会尊重你,这都是一样的道理。
38. "Shědé" means that there is a gain after a loss, which should be the explanation of this word, and people should also be like this. In our daily life and studies, we can experience the relationship of "shědé." Only when you make a sacrifice, that is, the so-called "shě," will you have the result of "dé." Although this result may not be what you expect, it is also the outcome of your "shě." If you don't "shě," there won't be any "dé." For example, if you don't respect others, others won't respect you. This is the same principle.

40. 人要学会“舍得”,不能企盼“全得”。拥有时,我们也许正在失去;放弃时,我们也许又在重新旋得。明的人懂得放弃,真情的人懂得牺牲,幸福的人懂得超越,这就是人生的目的。
40. People must learn to "let go" and cannot expect to "have it all." When we possess something, we may be losing it; when we let go, we may be gaining it back in another form. Those who are wise know how to let go, those who have true feelings know how to sacrifice, and those who are happy know how to transcend. This is the purpose of life.
41. 舍不得丢掉烂梨,只好吃一整箱的烂梨。如果能舍得丢掉几个前面那几个烂的,就能吃剩下的好梨。
