1. Someone evaluates the movie "Vanishing into the Mist": "The whole play does not speak of suffering, yet it is bitter to the heavens. It does not talk about love, yet it loves to the bone."
2. 因为修福报而不修智慧,始终无法出三界(梵语trayo dhatavah)之外,不修道就没话说,一旦要修行,福报是应该修,智慧(梵语jnana)亦不可或缺,何以故?有福无智成颠倒,有智无福成烦恼,是故,福智应双管齐下,相得益彰,不得偏失一边。
2. Because one cultivates blessings and not wisdom, one can never transcend the three realms (Sanskrit: trayo dhatavah). Without cultivating the path, there is nothing to speak of. Once one embarks on the path of practice, blessings should indeed be cultivated, and wisdom (Sanskrit: jnana) is also indispensable. Why is this? Having blessings without wisdom leads to confusion, and having wisdom without blessings leads to distress. Therefore, blessings and wisdom should be cultivated together, complementing each other, and there should be no bias towards one side.

8. A person of cultivation is someone you enjoy being around. Interacting with such a person, whether discussing ancient times or merely mundane matters, can be a delightful experience in life. In such interactions, you will find yourself feeling enriched; conversely, if you interact with someone lacking in cultivation, you will feel empty. I have heard that Buddhism divides everyone's experience into three lifetimes: past life, present life, and future life.

10. 君子泰然自若,不会骄傲;小人骄傲自满,不能泰然。良好素质使人宠辱不惊;不良习性使人难盖劣径。做人要学君子,不学小人!
10. A gentleman remains composed and modest; he does not boast. A small man boasts and is complacent; he cannot remain composed. Good character allows one to remain undisturbed by praise or blame; bad habits make it difficult to hide one's flaws. In life, one should emulate the gentleman and not the small man!
11. 静坐常思己过,闲谈莫论人非,能受苦乃为志士,肯吃亏不是痴人,敬君子方显有德,怕小人不算无能,退一步天高地阔,让三分心平气和,欲进步需思退步,若着手先虑放手,如得意不宜重往,凡做事应有余步。

33. 很多人学佛,都走了错误的路线,那就是错把修福报,当成了学佛的全部。要知道,一个人的福报再多,也无法去除贪嗔痴三恶,一个人的福报再多,也难逃轮回。

It must be known that no matter how much fortune a person has, it cannot eliminate the three evil roots of greed, anger, and ignorance, and no matter how much fortune a person has, it is difficult to escape the cycle of rebirth.
34. 59善人行善,从乐入乐,从明入明。恶人行恶,从苦入苦,从冥入冥。
34. The righteous do good and enter into joy, from brightness to brightness. The wicked do evil and enter into suffering, from darkness into darkness.

42. 小人却相反,总是“成人之恶,不成人之美”。) 6见贤思齐焉,见不贤而内自省也。
42. However, the mean-spirited ones are just the opposite, always "encouraging others to do evil, not to do good." 6 When you see a virtuous person, think of emulating them; when you see an unworthy person, reflect on your own shortcomings.
43. 淡泊以明志,宁静以致远;谈笑有鸿儒,往来无白丁。君子坦荡荡,小人长戚戚;己所不欲,勿施于人;有则改之,无则加勉;满招损,谦得益;不义而富且贵,与我如浮云;梅须逊雪三分白,雪却输梅一段香;
43. Modesty brings clarity of purpose, tranquility leads to distant success; in conversation, there are scholars, and in coming and going, no common people. A gentleman is open and magnanimous, while a small-minded person is often troubled; do not impose on others what you would not want for yourself; correct what is wrong, and strive harder if there is nothing wrong; pride brings loss, humility brings gain; wealth and status gained by injustice are to me as fleeting clouds; plums are not as white as snow by three parts, but snow is outshone by the fragrance of plums.

53. Inner tranquility is where one should start. If 31 people do good, although the blessings have not yet arrived, misfortune has already been far away; if people do evil, although misfortune has not yet arrived, blessings have already been far away.
54. 人生不管处于何种境遇,高光或者低估,富贵或者贫穷,都要学会愉悦生命,给自己找乐子,给生活加点甜。
54. No matter what circumstances life brings, whether it's at its peak or at its lowest, whether you are rich or poor, you should learn to enjoy life, find joy for yourself, and add a bit of sweetness to your life.

58. A person who spits everywhere and crosses the street recklessly lacks the character of abiding by laws and regulations. Character can also be feigned; an extremely bad person can pretend to be a good one in front of others; character is not influenced by appearance; character has an innate component; most importantly, character can be cultivated later on, which is why we need to keep learning all the time.

62. 10受思深处宜先退,得意浓时便可休。 11势不可使尽,福不可享尽,便宜不可占尽,聪明不可用尽。
62. When thoughts are deep, it is best to retreat first; when prosperity is at its peak, it is time to rest. 11 The power cannot be exhausted, the fortune cannot be enjoyed to the fullest, the benefits cannot be exploited to the end, and wisdom cannot be used to its limit.
63. 28人谁无过,过而能改,善莫大焉。 ——《左传》 (译:人都有可能犯错误,犯了猎误,只要改正了仍是最好的人。)
63. Who among the 28 has not sinned? To err is human, but to correct one's mistakes is the greatest virtue. ——Zuo Zhuan (Translation: Everyone is prone to make mistakes; once a mistake is made, as long as it is corrected, one can still be the best person.)
