Because there would be ant-eating animals that would suddenly come and eat large piles of ants, there would be trampling by large animals, there would be the dangers of nature, such as strong winds, heavy rains, and great fires... The first order of the new ant king was for all the ants to retreat back into the earth hole and make peace with the earth.
