In the long river of life, love is an eternal pursuit. We yearn to find that highest level of clarity in the complex and diverse world.

This seriously interfered with his normal life, and he decided to renounce sensual indulgence.

The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine says, "Anger injures the liver, joy injures the heart, sadness injures the lungs, worry injures the spleen, and fear injures the kidneys." Inner stability and calmness can only allow us to breathe smoothly and maintain our health for a long time.

28. Starting from the age of six or seven, Yang Zhenning has been committed to exercising for one hour every day. Even at the age of one hundred, he walks for ten minutes every day with the help of his partner. In an interview with the media, he said that he can feel the benefits brought by these ten minutes, because after walking for about three or four minutes, he can feel his lower legs getting warmer, which is very helpful for promoting the blood circulation in the body and enhancing the body's ability to resist diseases.

29. Life lies in motion, and stillness equals decay. A person who exercises can not only avoid the侵袭 of diseases but also boost their vitality, keeping themselves always full of energy and vitality, and feeling powerful and in control of their life.

37. Respect for life

38. Zhang Quanmin

39. Before his passing away, Master Hongyi repeatedly instructed his disciples to place a bowl filled with water under each of the four corners of the coffin when preparing his body for interment. This was to prevent ants and insects from climbing onto the body and being unjustly burned during the cremation. Several times, when reading Master Hongyi's biography, I was deeply moved by this detail, reflecting his profound compassion and reverence for life.

40. When I was in high school, there was often a big rat coming out of the hole in the backyard wall of my house to steal food. For some reason, a cruel thought popped into my mind. I secretly hid beside the wall and waited for the rat to come out, intending to scald it with boiling water. As a result, the big rat, after being scalded by the hot water, let out a惨叫 and shrank back into the hole. I didn't know if it died, but at that time, I didn't realize the cruelty of my own actions. Because "a rat crossing the street, everyone shouts to beat it," in the eyes of humans, rats seem to have a thousand reasons to die. However, what moved and made me feel guilty the most was still two months later: I saw that big rat again in the backyard, and it was still alive. It was just that its whole body was covered with white spots left by the scalds. But what was most painful and unsettling was that it was actually pregnant with baby rats, carrying a big belly, moving slowly on the ground to look for food. I couldn't express my feelings at that time, I just felt that the word "life" suddenly shone so brightly in my heart. I only felt that the behavior I had once had was so despicable and sinister. This feeling, perhaps in others' eyes would seem very funny, but for me, it was from that moment on that I gradually felt the meaning and weight of life.

41. The French philosopher Albert Schweitzer wrote in his book "Respect for Life" that during his volunteer medical work in Africa, one evening at dusk, he saw several hippos swimming alongside their boat in the river. This sudden realization of the loveliness and sanctity of life led to the sudden emergence of the idea of "Respect for Life" in his heart, which then became the cause he tirelessly advocated and pursued thereafter.

42. In fact, it is only when we have a reverent attitude towards life that the world will reveal its boundless vitality to us, and we will constantly feel the nobility and beauty of life everywhere. The tiny ants moving on the ground, the birds singing on the branches in spring, the antelopes running at the foot of the plateau's snow-capped mountains, the whales playing in the sea, and so on, all enrich the depth of the world of life. It is also only then that we will constantly gain insights and joy from life's experiences, as in the saying, "The kite soars, the fish leaps, and the Tao is everywhere."

43. Therefore, whenever I read stories about life, I always deeply feel the unbearable weight of life, such as when a mother camel jumps into a pond of water that is out of reach for the young camel about to die of thirst in the Sahara Desert; when the old antelopes jump one after another towards the cliff to enable the young ones to escape; when a eel arches its middle body while being fried in a pot of oil to protect the eggs in its belly; and when a mother wolf howls and wails in the cold moonlit night as she watches her young one die in the hunter's trap. In fact, it is not only humans who possess the brilliance of the divine nature of life.

44. Sometimes, we respect life also because we want to love humanity more. Feng Kai once advised children not to recklessly stomp on ants with their feet, and not to recklessly use fire or water to harm ants. He believed that his actions were not only out of compassion, but also out of fear that the children's tiny bit of cruelty might expand later on, to the point where they might fly planes loaded with bombs to bomb innocent civilians.

45. Indeed, we reverence all forms of life on Earth, not just because humans have a sense of compassion, but more so because their fate is intertwined with ours; when they are almost entirely wiped out, humans, like the last domino in a row, will fall next.

46. [ Inspiration ] Life is sacred. We should first understand the meaning of life from a rational perspective, so that we cherish life in all our actions and cultivate our compassion and care. The final instructions of Master Hongyi, the bold leap of a thirsty camel, and the fearless charge of a gazelle seeking survival all stir our hearts deeply. It is not only humans who possess the sacred glow of life, but the acts of animals cherishing life are even more heart-wrenching.

49. This is a Tibetan story I heard, and the story took place many years ago. However, every time I travel through the North Tibetan desert by car, I can't help but think of the protagonist of this story – that Tibetan antelope that condensed its motherly love into a deep bow.

50. At that time, there were no legal penalties for gun violence and the arbitrary capture of wild animals. Even today, the sound of gunfire in the Hoh Xil region still resonates with the lingering echo of sin in the corners that the guardians of nature reserves cannot reach. The scenes of Tibetan antelopes, wild horses, wild donkeys, snow chickens, and yellow sheep that were once visible everywhere have now become rare.
