Wisdom Proverb: Action and speech in harmony, blessings and misfortunes always accompany—essence of life philosophy.

1. 曾国藩以两江总督的身份，按理应该坐八抬大轿，但他只坐四台的绿呢轿子。

1. Zeng Guofan, as the Governor-General of the Two Rivers, should have sat in an eight-horse sedan chair according to the rules, but he only sat in a green silk canopy sedan chair with four horses.

2. 事不做绝，不走极端，让事情处于可控的状态，才是最大的通透和清醒。

2. Not to go to extremes, not to take things to the extreme, and to keep things in a controllable state is the greatest clarity and awareness.

3. 最终，建文帝江山易手，自己亡命天涯。

3. In the end, the Emperor Jianwen lost his throne, and he fled into exile, wandering the vast lands.

4. 物极必反，盛极则衰。

4. The extreme is the opposite of the extreme, and the peak of prosperity leads to decline.

6. 他南征百战，扩充国力之际，母亲却和他的弟弟共叔段谋划叛变，意图推翻郑庄公。

6. While he was engaged in numerous campaigns to the south, expanding the country's strength, his mother conspired with his younger brother, Duke Shu Duan, to rebel against Duke Zheng.

7. 福不享尽，就不会断自己的运。

7. If one does not enjoy all the blessings, they will not cut off their own good fortune.

8. 但誓言凿凿，也无可奈何。

8. But the vow was firm, and there was nothing to be done about it.

9. 郑庄公一直被母亲嫌弃，虽然后来继位为君，母亲仍然处处掣肘。

9. The Marquis of Zheng was constantly disliked by his mother, and even after he ascended the throne as the ruler, his mother still hindered him at every turn.

10. 朱元璋创建大明王朝，为了子孙后代长治久安，杀尽勋臣旧将，把整个朝廷差点扫荡一空，元气大伤。

10. Zhu Yuanzhang established the Great Ming Dynasty. In order to ensure long-term peace and stability for his descendants, he killed all the senior officials and veteran generals, nearly swept the entire court clean, and severely damaged the national vitality.

11. 俗话说：“凡事留一线，日后好相见。”

11. As the saying goes, "Leave a thread of hope for future encounters."

12. 给他人留生机，也就是给自己留福气。而把别人逼到墙角，别人除了挺身而斗，玉石俱焚，再无出路。

12. To leave a chance of survival for others is to also bring good fortune to oneself. However, pushing someone into a corner leaves them with no choice but to stand up and fight, resulting in a situation where everything is destroyed, with no other way out.

13. 曾国藩一生，命运眷顾，顺风顺水，最终位极人臣，成为汉人官员里的翘楚。

13. Zeng Guofan's life was blessed with good fortune, sailing smoothly, and he ultimately reached the peak of his career, becoming the cream of Han officials.

14. 一次上朝，和一乘六抬轿子的官员狭路相冲。那官员见四抬轿子挡道，不由分说，就厉声呵斥，大耍官威。等见了曾国藩下轿，立即惶恐不安。

14. On one occasion of an audience, he collided with an official riding in a sedan chair carried by six bearers. Upon seeing the four sedan chairs blocking the path, he could not contain his anger and shouted fiercely, displaying his official authority. However, upon seeing Zeng Guofan alight from his sedan chair, he immediately felt anxious and fearful.

15. 任何事物，一旦过满，就会走向反面。

15. Any thing, once it is overfull, will turn to its opposite.

16. 说出的话，如射出的箭，泼出的水，无法收回。说有余地的话，才能给自己留下转圜的空间。

16. Words spoken are like arrows shot or water spilled, which cannot be收回. Only when you speak with room for maneuver can you leave yourself space for negotiation.

17. 事不做绝，就不会砸自己的脚。

17. Don't do things to the extreme, or you won't step on your own toes.

18. 话不说满，是一种分寸感，更是一种智慧。

18. Not saying everything is a sense of measure, but also a kind of wisdom.

19. 不走极端，不失理智，才是立身处世的真智慧。

19. Not to take extremes, not to lose one's reason, is the true wisdom of dealing with the world and establishing oneself.

20. “世家子弟，衣食起居，无一不与寒士相同，可以成大气。若沾福贵习气，则难望有成。常守俭朴之风，为惜福之道也。”

20. "The scions of noble families, in terms of clothing, food, and living, are no different from scholars of modest means, and they have the potential to achieve great things. If they沾染上富贵习气，则很难有所成就。常常保持俭朴的风气，这是珍惜福气的途径。”

21. 口能吐芬芳，也能吐蒺藜。如果嘴不把门，肆意妄言，既刺伤别人，也贻误自己。

21. The mouth can emit both fragrance and thorns. If it does not keep the gate, and speaks arbitrarily, it will not only hurt others but also harm oneself.

22. 福不享尽，才是真正的惜福。惜福者，才会有源源不断的福气。

22. It is only when one does not exhaust the blessings that one truly cherishes them. Those who cherish their blessings will have an endless stream of fortune.

23. 做人忌满，万事求缺。

23. In life, it is advisable to be content with less and always seek for more.

24. 然而，他从来不摆谱，也不安享尊荣，而是时刻警醒自己，严格约束家人。以始终谦和的姿态，过着朴素简单的生活。

24. However, he never炫耀自己，也不安于享受尊荣， instead, he constantly keeps himself vigilant and strictly disciplines his family. He leads a simple and modest life, always maintaining a humble demeanor.

25. 话不说满，就不会堵自己的路。

25. Do not speak one's mind fully, or one will block one's own path.

26. 曾国藩曾说：“福不多享，故总以俭字为主，少用仆婢，少花银钱，自然惜福矣。”

26. Zeng Guofan once said, "Since happiness is not abundant, one should always take frugality as the main principle, use fewer servants and spend less money, and naturally treasure one's blessings."

27. 一个人最大的清醒，是话不说满，事不做绝，福不享尽。

27. The greatest clarity of a person is not to speak too full, not to do things to the extreme, and not to enjoy blessings to the fullest.

28. 做事太绝，面厚心狠，看似斩草除根，其实给自己埋下更大的隐患。因为任何极端的行为，一定是灾祸的萌芽。

28. Being overly extreme in doing things, with a thick face and a狠 heart, seems to be uprooting the grass at its roots, but in fact, it is planting greater hidden dangers for oneself. Because any extreme behavior is bound to be the seed of disaster.

29. 朱元璋死后，皇太孙建文帝继位。燕王朱棣不服，起兵靖难，兵锋直指京城。

29. After Zhu Yuanzhang's death, his great-grandson, Emperor Jianwen, ascended the throne. King Yan Zhu Di, not content with the succession, raised an army to pacify the chaos, and his forces directly aimed at the capital city.

30. 此言不仅有违孝道，还彻底隔绝了他们的母子之情。几年后，郑庄公开始反悔，他常因思念母亲，泪流满面。

30. This statement not only goes against filial piety but also completely cuts off their mother-daughter affection. Years later, Duke Zheng of Zheng began to regret, often shedding tears in remembrance of his mother.

31. 天道好还，因果不虚。世间万事，都逃不出因果。福不享尽，是给上天留因果，让自己年年有余，福气连绵。

31. The way of heaven rewards what is due, and causality is not false. All things in the world cannot escape causality. Not enjoying all the blessings is leaving room for causality with the heavens, allowing oneself to have more than enough year after year, with blessings that continue endlessly.

32. 曾国藩却谦和慰问，语言诚恳，并吩咐从人暂且退后，让对方先过。

32. Zeng Guofan, however, was humble and comforting, his words sincere, and he instructed his attendants to step back temporarily, allowing the other party to pass first.

33. 《待人五法》中讲：“知人不必言尽，言尽则无友；责人不必苛尽，苛尽则众远。”

33. The text from "Five Methods of Dealing with People" states: "It is not necessary to know a person completely; if you do, you will have no friends. It is not necessary to be overly strict with others; if you are, they will keep their distance."

34. 建文帝准备好兵马钱粮，却找不到能打战的将领，因为战功卓著的悍将早已成为朱元璋的刀下亡魂。没奈何，派出的将领能力匮乏，皆以战败收场。

34. Emperor Jianwen had prepared soldiers, horses, and supplies, but could not find capable commanders for battle, as the valiant generals who had distinguished themselves in war had long become the victims of Zhu Yuanzhang's sword. In despair, the commanders sent out were all lacking in ability and ended up with defeat.

35. 平叛之后，郑庄公立下重誓，不到黄泉，绝不与母亲相见。

35. After pacifying the rebellion, King Zhuang of Zheng took a solemn vow that he would never see his mother again unless he reached the underworld.

36. 凡事给自己留余地，给他人留生机，才能行稳致远，得到福报。

36. Leave room for yourself in all things, give others a chance to survive, only then can you walk steadily and far, and receive blessings.

37. 后来，多亏得臣下想出妙计，挖地十余丈，直至黄泉水溢出。开凿地道，让他们女子于此相见。

37. Later, thanks to a clever plan by his ministers, they dug for more than ten meters into the ground until the Yellow Spring Water overflowed. They tunneled underground to allow the women to meet here.
