In the complex and intricate world, seeking the wisest philosophy of life is like searching for the North Star in the vast expanse of the cosmos to guide one's way forward. The great principles are simple, embrace all things, have no desires or demands, and one achieves tranquility.

1. 而有些人可能知识很渊博,但缺乏智慧的灵动。比如很多教授专家,知道花为什么是红的,柳树为什么是绿的,人喝醉了为什么会胡言乱语踉跄不稳,但不知道自己是谁,自己何处来,意往何处去。脑袋里装了一火车的知识和技能,走到哪里都是社会栋梁,但活得很迷茫,在这个动荡喧嚣尘世中找不到一个立身的坚固支点。

1. While some people may be very knowledgeable, they lack the flexibility of wisdom. For example, many professors and experts know why flowers are red, why willows are green, and why people talk nonsense and stagger when drunk, but they don't know who they are, where they come from, or where their intentions are heading. Their heads are filled with a trainload of knowledge and skills, and they are pillars of society wherever they go. However, they live in confusion, and they can't find a solid foundation to stand on in this turbulent, noisy world.

2. 道德直通有形的天地之外,思想直入变幻多端的风云之中。

2. Morality extends beyond the tangible heaven and earth, while thought delves into the ever-changing and diverse storms and clouds.

3. ⊙ 近报自身,远报儿孙。

3. The near report concerns oneself, while the distant report concerns one's descendants.

4. ⊙ 明德知礼义,福寿可平安。

4. · Possessing virtue and understanding propriety and righteousness brings peace, happiness, longevity, and safety.

10. 临终之际,若一毫凡圣情量未尽,纤毫思虑未忘便乃轻重五阴去也。

10. At the moment of death, if even the slightest bit of worldly or sacred emotion has not been exhausted, or if the tiniest thought remains unresolved, then it is the Five Aggregates (Skandhas) that will be heavy or light.

11. ⊙ 嬉戏荒事业,酗酒惹祸端,劳动荣且敬,懒馋欲变贪。

12. The most vast thing in the world is the ocean, more vast than the ocean is the sky, and more vast than the sky is the human heart.

13. 学会待机而动,“动而不括”,不动则已,动就要全身行动;“是以出而有获”,任何事情不做则已,做了就一定要有效果,抓住机会。

13. Learn to act when in a state of readiness, "moving without hesitation"; if not moving, then remain still, but when moving, act with all one's might; thus, one must achieve results when taking action, seize opportunities without fail.

14. 先存诸己,再存诸人。真正的让自己先站起来,再帮别人站起来,不要自视过高。

14. First, accumulate within yourself, then extend to others. The true way to stand up for oneself is to first stand up, and then help others stand up; do not overestimate oneself.

The elder Taoist: "Before attaining enlightenment, I would think about fetching water while chopping wood, and about cooking while fetching water; after attaining enlightenment, I chop wood as wood, carry water as water, and cook as cooking." The conversation between the elder Taoist and the traveler has enlightened us; many profound and highest truths are contained within some extremely simple thoughts.

35. The sky is incredibly vast, capable of embracing all the suns, moons, and stars, and the earth is extremely expansive, able to contain all the swirling sands and stones. We can only maintain a high level of perspective and cultivate a heart that encompasses all things, so that we are not overly burdened by some bad people and things, and thus can walk steadily towards our goals and move with ease.

36. 做工夫全仗精进之力,真正办道人,无剪爪之工。

36. The practice of the Dharma relies entirely on the power of diligence and perseverance. A true practitioner of the path has no need for the work of trimming nails.

37. 遇到困难得时候,不要着急放弃,加把劲冲一冲,看看自己到底能做到什么程度,因为结果并没有那么重要。

37. When faced with difficulties, don't rush to give up. Put in more effort and push forward to see how far you can really go, because the outcome is not as important as you might think.

38. ⊙ 常怀克己心,法度不能犯,道高龙虎伏,德重神鬼钦。

38. ⊙ Always cultivate a self-disciplined mindset, adhere to laws and regulations without transgression; when one's moral character is lofty, even dragons and tigers will submit, and the gods and spirits will respect and admire.

39. 明明知道却闭口不言,眼睁睁看着对方陷入困境,也不是君子所为。

39. To know something and yet remain silent, watching helplessly as the other person falls into trouble, is not the conduct of a gentleman.

40. ⊙ 与善人居,如入兰芷之室,久而不闻其香;与恶人居。如入鲍鱼之肆,久而不闻其臭一一刘向

40. To live with the virtuous is like entering a room filled with orchids, and after a while, one no longer notices the fragrance; to live with the wicked is like entering a shop filled with stinky fish, and after a while, one no longer notices the odor. -- Liu Xiang

41. 若菩萨有我相、人相、众生相、寿者相,即非菩萨。

41. If a bodhisattva has the notion of 'I', the notion of 'individual', the notion of 'all sentient beings', and the notion of 'longevity', then he is not a bodhisattva.

44. Tao Te Ching: "The highest境界 of life is to have no desires. Everything I have lost was never truly mine, and everything I seek only binds me. All things are there for my use, not for my ownership. A gentleman makes things serve him, not the other way around. The great Tao is simple and straightforward; without desires, one is firm; with non-action, one can accomplish anything."

45. ⊙ 今天不知明日事,人争闲气一场空。

45. ⊙ Today, one does not know what tomorrow will bring, and people squabble over trivial matters, only to find themselves empty-handed.

46. 智慧和知识也不是必然联系的,有些人可能知识积淀很少,但却富有智慧。比如禅宗里六祖慧能的故事,我们都很熟悉。一和尚说风动,一和尚说幡动。六祖慧能说,不是风动不是幡动,而是你的心动。这回答若以科学的角度看,全是废话,以现代哲学又被批判为典型的唯心主义,但你细细品读,犹如茶香,袅袅不绝。

46. Wisdom and knowledge are not necessarily linked either. Some people may have little knowledge accumulated, but are rich in wisdom. For example, the story of Huìnéng, the sixth patriarch of the Chan (Zen) school, is well-known to us. One monk said it was the wind moving, and another monk said it was the banner moving. The sixth patriarch Huìnéng said, "It is not the wind moving or the banner moving, but your heart is moving." If this answer is viewed from a scientific perspective, it is all nonsense, and it is also criticized as typical idealism by modern philosophy. But if you read it carefully, it is like the fragrance of tea, lingering endlessly.

47. The gods are all angry, and the national laws are hard to tolerate.

48. 虚伪永远不能凭借它生长在权利中而变成真实。

48. Pretence can never become real by growing in the soil of rights.

49. 有德行的人修养自己的身心,内在要端正自己的思想,外在要端正自己的仪容。

49. A person of virtue cultivates both their mind and body, internally correcting their thoughts, and externally correcting their appearance.

50. 性情的修养,不是为了别人,而是为了自己增强生活能力。

50. Cultivating one's temperament is not for others, but to enhance one's ability to live independently.

52. To have faith in the heart and to see the essence fully realized in daily life without any trace of leakage, the entire world is the Dharma, and the entire Dharma is the world, being equal and uniform.
