3. A person with a broad mind can still find contentment and joy in whatever situation or adversity they face, living out the bliss and tranquility of life. On the other hand, a person with a narrow mind, even when surrounded by the myriad beauties of the world, remains entangled in distress and gloom.
4. 修一颗阔大的心,把生命的负累放开,把生活的烦恼看开,把人生的痛苦想开。心无挂碍,心宽似海,自然能拥有自在的一生。
4. Cultivate a vast heart, let go of the burdens of life, take a relaxed attitude towards the troubles of living, and view the pains of life with an open mind. With no attachments and a broad mind like the sea, one can naturally enjoy a carefree life.
5. 一个探险家到沙漠掘宝,他背着一袋沉甸甸的宝贝往回走。天上骄阳似火,沙漠茫茫无边。他又累又渴,倒在一棵枯树下,气喘吁吁。这时,有人赶着骆驼从他面前经过,他赶忙向来人讨水喝。
5. An explorer went into the desert to search for treasures, carrying a bag of heavy treasures back. The sun was blazing in the sky, and the desert stretched endlessly. He was both tired and thirsty, collapsed under a withered tree, gasping for breath. At that moment, someone passed by with camels, and he hurriedly asked the passerby for a drink of water.
6. 来人不肯白给,提出让他用一袋子的宝物交换。探险家哪里舍得,他扛起袋子继续走,还没走出沙漠就渴死了。
6. The visitor refused to give it for free and proposed to exchange it for a bag of treasures. The explorer, however, was unwilling to part with it, so he picked up the bag and continued on his way. He died of thirst before he even left the desert.
7. 人这一辈子,需要的不多,而想要的太多。对名利的偏执,对物欲的执念,对财富的贪婪,让生命的负累越来越多,人生越来越疲惫。
7. Throughout one's life, what is needed is not much, but what is desired is too much. Obsession with fame and wealth, attachment to material desires, and greed for wealth accumulate more and more burdens on life, making life increasingly weary.
8. 哲学家叔本华说:“人就是一团欲望,当欲望得不到满足,就会痛苦。欲望得到满足,就会陷入空虚,从而追逐更大的欲望。”
8. The philosopher Schopenhauer said: "Man is a bundle of desires, and when desires are not satisfied, there is suffering. When desires are satisfied, one falls into emptiness, thus chasing after greater desires."
9. 懂得节制自己的欲望,放下让我们心累的包袱,就能远离很多烦恼,过上从容自如的生活。
9. Understanding how to control one's desires and putting down the burdens that weigh on our hearts can help us distance ourselves from many troubles, leading to a life of ease and comfort.
10. 欲望是人性,但一味被欲望驱使,就会成为它的奴隶。我们要修炼一颗强大的心,控制和驾驭自己的欲望,丢掉不必要的追求,给人生做减法。
10. Desire is a part of human nature, but if one is constantly driven by desire, one can become its slave. We need to cultivate a strong heart, to control and harness our desires, discard unnecessary pursuits, and simplify our lives.
11. 生命因复杂而纠结,因简单而幸福。放开负累,让生命简单,让我们轻装前行,轻盈洒脱。
11. Life is entangled due to its complexity and happy due to its simplicity. Let go of the burdens, simplify life, and let us proceed lightly and freely.
12. 除了生死,人生没有什么大事。
12. Apart from life and death, there is nothing of great importance in life.
13. 有时候,那些煎熬我们无数日夜的烦恼,往远处看,只是生活里的一点涟漪,不足挂怀。而我们当时总是纠缠不放,破坏了心情,耗损了精神,让生活愁云惨淡,阴云不散。
13. Sometimes, those troubles that torment us for countless days and nights, when viewed from a distance, are just a few ripples in the life, not worth worrying about. Yet we were always entangled in them, destroying our mood,耗损了精神,making life gloomy and the dark clouds lingered.
14. 学会看开,不要跟消耗自己的人和事纠缠,没有什么大不了,没有什么放不下。很多时候,放不下不是因为事情太大,而是因为内心太小。提升自己的格局,让心胸宽广,容难容之事,笑可笑之人,人生自是另一番境界。
14. Learn to let go and not entangle yourself with people and things that consume you. It's not a big deal, and there's nothing you can't let go of. Often, the reason we can't let go is not because the matter is too big, but because our hearts are too small. Elevate your perspective, broaden your mind, tolerate what is hard to tolerate, and laugh at what is laughable, and your life will naturally reach another level.
15. 有人问禅师,我的生活总是烦恼不断,该如何化解。禅师在水杯里放进一勺盐,让他喝下去。那人喝了几口就紧皱眉头,不愿再喝。禅师笑笑,把他带到寺庙后面的湖边,在湖水里放进一勺盐,然后舀出一杯让他喝,水里没有一点盐味。
15. Someone asked the monk, "My life is always filled with烦恼 (troubles) and I don't know how to alleviate it." The monk put a spoon of salt into a glass of water and asked him to drink it. After a few sips, the man皱了皱眉头 (tightened his brow), unwilling to drink anymore. The monk smiled, took him to the lake behind the temple, put a spoon of salt into the lake water, and then scooped out a glass for him to drink. The water had no taste of salt.
16. 内心如水,烦恼如盐。如果内心浩瀚了,生活中那些烦恼也就不值一提。修一颗阔大的心,看开烦恼,不跟烂人烂事为敌,不跟自己较劲,让心灵盛放最美的风景。
16. The inner heart is like water,烦恼 is like salt. If the inner heart is vast, the troubles in life are not worth mentioning. Cultivate a vast heart, let go of烦恼, don't fight with bad people and bad things, don't argue with oneself, and let the soul bloom with the most beautiful scenery.
17. 《金刚经》说:“一切有为法,如梦幻泡影。如露亦如电,无有真实相。”当死亡席卷而来的时候,你回顾自己的一生,此前的种种烦恼,万千纠缠,不过是梦幻泡影,难以捉摸。当时又何必耿耿于怀,倍受摧残。
17. The Diamond Sutra says: "All conditioned phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows. Like dew and lightning, they have no real form." When death sweeps in, when you look back on your life, all the previous troubles and countless entanglements are merely dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows, elusive and intangible. Why then be fixated on them, suffering such immense destruction?
18. 人生不如意事十之八九。如果总是沉浸在痛苦中不可自拔,又怎能过好这一生呢。上天赐予我们痛苦,就是让我们渡劫。渡过去柳暗花明,渡不过荆棘遍地。把痛苦想开,看淡,放下,才能开启崭新的人生。
18. Most of the things in life are not as we wish. If one is always immersed in pain and cannot pull oneself out, how can one live a good life? The heavens bestow upon us pain so that we may go through trials. If we pass through them, there will be dark willows and bright flowers; if we do not, there will be thorny paths everywhere. By opening up to pain, taking it lightly, letting it go, one can embark on a new life.
19. 《活着》里的福贵,本是富家少爷,年轻时又嫖又赌,输光了所有的家产,全家人只好搬进一间破茅屋里,靠着给人种地谋生。母亲病危,福贵进城请医生,结果被国民党军队抓了壮丁,经历九死一生回家后,和妻子家珍以及一双儿女过着贫苦的生活。
19. In the novel "To Live," Fu Gui, who was originally the son of a wealthy family, was a young man who was both a嫖客 and a gambler, and he lost all of his family's property. The entire family had to move into a dilapidated thatched cottage, earning a living by farming land for others. When his mother was critically ill, Fu Gui went into the city to find a doctor, only to be drafted by the Nationalist army. After experiencing near-death situations and returning home, he lived a poor life with his wife, Jia Zhen, and their two children.
20. 后来儿子有庆因去献血,被医生抽干血液当场死亡。女儿凤霞生孩子时大出血死去。女婿和妻子家珍也相继死去。福贵和自己的外孙子苦根相依为命,但苦根也在一个早晨,吃豆子过度撑死了。
20. Later, the son, Jingu, died on the spot after his blood was drained by a doctor due to donating blood. The daughter, Fengxia, died of massive hemorrhaging during childbirth. Her husband and the son-in-law, Jia Zhen, also died in succession. Fugui and his grandson, Kugen, relied on each other for survival, but Kugen also died one morning from overeating beans.
21. 小说的最后,福贵和一头老牛相伴,一边耕田,一边唱歌。意态悠闲,积极乐观,焕发出新的活力。
21. In the final part of the novel, Fugui is accompanied by an old cow, tilling the fields while singing. He appears at ease, positive and optimistic, exuding new vitality.
22. 每一次不幸的发生,能让福贵痛苦不堪。但生活还得继续,人生还要前行,只有自己走出痛苦的阴霾,才是对待苦难最好的办法。
22. Every occurrence of misfortune can cause Fu Gui immense pain. But life must go on, and one's journey in life must continue. The best way to deal with hardship is to find a way to step out of the gloom of suffering.
23. 想开了,痛苦就过去了,生命的光将奔涌而来。
23. When you let go of the thoughts, the pain will pass, and the light of life will surge forth.
24. 狂风在你耳边呼啸时,只当是微风拂面。暴雨在你眼前倾泻时,只当是屋檐滴水。闪电在你头顶肆虐时,只当是萤火流逝。
24. When the howling gale is in your ears, treat it as a gentle breeze against your face. When the torrential rain is pouring before your eyes, regard it as the droplets from the eaves. When the lightning is raging above your head, treat it as the fleeting glow of fireflies.
25. 人世间的很多事,只要你不当一回事,它就不是事。生活中那些阻塞自己的东西,只要你能放开,看开,想开,它就消失于无形,让你的人生变得畅通。
25. Many things in the world are not a matter if you don't take them seriously. The things in life that block you, as long as you can let go, be open-minded, and think positively, they will disappear into thin air, making your life smooth and unobstructed.
26. 修炼一颗浩瀚的心,不被欲望捆绑,不被烦恼纠缠,不被痛苦伤害,让生活简单幸福,喜乐常随。
26. Cultivate a vast heart, unbound by desires, unentangled by烦恼 (troubles), unharmed by suffering. Let life be simple and happy, with joy always accompanying.
27. 无私地付出、无奈的挫折、难以忘怀的情感,人从纯真的孩童,成长为独立自主的成年人,大都经历过这些。你的经历没有什么特殊的,你现在的生活也在正常范围之内。
27. Selfless dedication,无奈的 setbacks, unforgettable emotions – most people go through these as they grow from innocent children into independent adults. Your experiences are nothing special, and your current life is within the normal range.
28. 彻底忘记,意味着你失去自我,而恢复曾经的自己,则既和彻底忘记相矛盾,又意味着对自己现在和将来的否定,与人追求进步和发展的基本矛盾相违背。结解不开,是因为这是个矛盾的自锁的结,你一边试图去解,一边又在不自觉地把它拉紧。
28. To completely forget means to lose oneself, and to recover the past self is both contradictory to complete forgetting and implies a denial of one's present and future, which goes against the fundamental contradiction of pursuing progress and development. The knot cannot be untied because it is a paradoxical self-locking knot; while you are trying to untie it, you are also unconsciously tightening it.
29. 所以,你不用彻底忘记,也不用恢复曾经的自己。你想要做到的这两件事,是完全没有必要去做的,也是做不到的。你变不回以前的你,是因为你的经历让你成长了。人只会成长,不会倒退。
29. Therefore, you don't need to completely forget, nor do you need to revert back to your former self. The two things you want to achieve are not necessary to do at all, and they are also impossible to do. You can't go back to your old self because your experiences have helped you grow. People can only grow, they cannot regress.
30. 你要做的应该是另两件事,认真工作多赚钱、找个女朋友谈恋爱。
30. The two things you should do are to work hard and earn more money, and to find a girlfriend to date.
31. 内向的人稳重、细致、有耐心,可以做好很多外向的人做不好的事,你要发挥自己的特长。
31. Introverts are steady, meticulous, and patient, and they can do many things that extroverts cannot. You should give full play to your own strengths.
32. 新的恋情,也不是对过去的否定,而是一种合理的更高的生活追求。
32. The new romance is not a negation of the past, but a reasonable pursuit of a higher quality of life.
33. 人都是要向前走的,光明在前面,总是看身后,看到的就都是影子。
33. People all need to move forward; the light is ahead. Always looking behind, all one sees are shadows.
34. 命运就是用来被打破的。从工作、生活中的小事做起,哪怕向前走出了小小的一步,都是人生的成功。
34. Destiny is meant to be shattered. Starting from the small things in work and life, even if you take a tiny step forward, it is a success in life.
35. 我们学习佛法的目的各不相同。很多人都有自己的角度。释迦牟尼佛在 《妙法莲华经》 中告诉我们,他之所以传授佛法,就是为了能够令众生获得无上的智慧。佛的智慧、觉悟的智慧。我们为什么非要有这个智慧呢?因为没有这个智慧我们会痛苦。唯有这个智慧能够解决、免除我们的痛苦。
35. Our purposes for studying Buddhism are different; many people have their own perspectives. In the "Lotus Sutra," Buddha Shakyamuni tells us that the reason he teaches the Dharma is to enable all sentient beings to attain the ultimate wisdom, the wisdom of enlightenment. Why do we need this wisdom? Because without it, we will suffer. Only this wisdom can resolve and alleviate our suffering.
36. 世间人们也有快乐、也有痛苦。其实我们所说的快乐,并不是什么真正的快乐。准确的说应该是痛苦的缓解,而且是短暂的缓解。比如我们吃饭时候很快乐,那是因为缓解了饥饿,缓解了我们对美食的贪欲之苦。假如这个欲念我们并未满足,它就是痛苦的。
36. People in the world also have happiness and suffering. In fact, the happiness we talk about is not true happiness. More accurately, it is the relief of suffering, and it is a temporary relief. For example, we feel happy when we eat, because it relieves our hunger and the suffering of our desire for delicious food. If this desire is not satisfied, it becomes painful.
37. 又如富有的快乐,不过是贫穷的缓解。如果金钱真的能够带来快乐,那么就不该有那么多有钱的人自杀。他们太痛苦了,以至于认为相比之下死亡或许更快乐。当然相比较而言,贫穷更让人痛苦,这也是事实。
37. For instance, the happiness of the wealthy is merely a relief from poverty. If money truly brings happiness, then there shouldn't be so many rich people committing suicide. They are too suffering to believe that death might be more joyful in comparison. Of course, compared to poverty, wealth is more painful, which is also a fact.
38. 人们绝大多数寻求的快乐都是如此。寻求痛苦的解脱。
38. Most people seek the same kind of joy; they seek relief from suffering.
39. 佛法则不然。佛法探求的是这个痛苦的根源在何处。假如这个根源没有找到,那么痛苦就会源源不断地产生。即使有短暂的缓解,就是我们说的快乐,也无法永远保留。
39. The Dharma is not like that. The Dharma seeks to understand where the root of this suffering lies. If this root is not found, then suffering will continuously arise. Even if there is a temporary relief, which we call happiness, it cannot be permanently retained.
