Zhang Sanfeng believed that throughout history, the so-called Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, which are considered as the three main teachings, are only different in the founders. In fact, "Muni, Confucius, and Laozi all call it Tao," and "the pursuit of cultivating oneself and benefiting others is the same." He also said, "The Tao is called the Tao, and the cultivation of the Tao is the cultivation of the yin and yang. One yin and one yang, one nature and one destiny." The "Zhongyong" says that the cultivation of the Tao is called education. The sages of the three teachings all based their teachings on this Tao." He also believed: "Metaphysics takes merit and virtue as its essence, and the elixir as its application, and then one can become a immortal." Later, his works were compiled into a collection titled "The Complete Works of Master Zhang Sanfeng." They were included in the "Compilation of Taoist Canon."
