1. Recently, a friend introduced me to a book about history titled "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty." When I first saw the book, I flipped through a few pages casually and found that it was all text. I thought to myself that this must be another dry and boring, pretentiously profound history book, so I put it aside and didn't pay any attention to it. Later, when I ran out of books to read, I had no choice but to read it with patience. To my surprise, once I started, I was immediately captivated and couldn't put it down. The author wrote the 276 years of the Ming Dynasty in a way that was easy to understand, with rich humor.
2. But perhaps those loyal ministers believed that their best fate was to exhaust the last ounce of their strength for the country and to shed the last drop of their blood.
3. The closer one gets to the opponent's level, the more one understands the opponent's strength and the more fear one will have. When the fear reaches its peak, it is when one can match the opponent.
4. Reading a good book is like conversing with an upright person. From the book, I have learned many truths: one must make many friends, establish a good network of interpersonal relationships, and follow the good in others; one must have foresight in doing things, not just focusing on immediate benefits; one must be modest in one's conduct and affairs, and not be conceited or arrogant.
5. A Zen master said, "Intelligence is rounded, conduct is straightforward. Capable of bending and stretching, combining strength and gentleness, applying benevolence and authority, and being strict within and flexible without."
6. Everyone has a relatively clear judgment of their own abilities. Once entering the workplace, everyone is an adult, and in reality, one's own level is the most well-known. At this time, if someone flatters you and makes you feel that you still have such great strength, it is obvious that they have a purpose. Because we have a grasp of our own abilities, others' flattery becomes trivial, and even leads us to be cautious towards them.
7. As the saying goes, "Endure for a moment, and the waves will calm; take a step back, and the sky will be vast." Why should one argue with or compete with a brute? Adjust one's mood, go separate ways, and don't let them excessively disturb your own life.
8. During the Spring and Autumn period, Min Ziqian heard about Confucius' vast knowledge and extraordinary wisdom, and thus he decided to become a student of Confucius to learn from him.
9. Life is not a smooth road. Always walking with your head held high, you are bound to fall into a mud hole and make a mess of yourself.
10. In one's lifetime, there are nine out of ten things that do not go as planned. No one has an easy journey through life, no one is all-powerful, and no one is immune to making mistakes. When it's time to bow your head, do so; when it's time to bear the burden, endure it. Possessing the courage to bow your head will give you the confidence to lift your head up; enduring a fierce storm will lead you to a calm sea and boundless sky. Be modest in victory, not despondent in defeat, neither haughty in prosperity nor resentful in adversity. One who can go up and down, be high and low, bend and stretch, can live carefree and at ease, with peace of mind and ease of heart, enduringly and for a long time.
11. The most painful part of life is not having a tragic ending, but knowing the ending and being unable to change it.
12. The beginning of this book mainly tells the story of Zhu Yuanzhang, who was born into a farming family and could not stand the rule of the Yuan Dynasty. He first became a monk and then was falsely accused of planning to rise in rebellion, forcing him to join the then-rebellious troops. Gradually, his military talents began to show, as he first defeated other rebellious forces stronger than himself, and later, after decades of warfare with the Yuan, he finally drove out the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty and unified China.
13. Remember seeing the animated version of "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty" by accident, and ever since then, I've been looking forward to the complete novel. I was fortunate enough to read the whole set last year in the library, and even now, when I recall it, it still feels wonderful, as if it were yesterday. The scenes in the book are vivid in my mind.
14. Sincere praise is not the same as flattery. When a person achieves success in the workplace, as a colleague or subordinate, we see their efforts. It is very necessary to use appropriate language to affirm their contributions at this time, so that the other person feels that you are sincerely happy for them. However, flattery only affirms their talent, without seeing their process, which can easily make people feel distant. Therefore, it is better to offer sincere praise rather than flattery.
15. When the boss quoted the price, Liu Huaqiang thought it was too expensive and sarcastically said that the boss's watermelon was made of gold.
16. Wang Shouren is the person who left the deepest impression on me and whom I have the most感悟 about. He created the school of mind study, discovered the concept of "Unity of Knowledge and Action," and is a great philosopher; he alone gathered the rebel army, defeated the rebellious prince Ningwang, and did so in a mere month, making him an outstanding military strategist. And the book's discussion of his "Unity of Knowledge and Action" philosophy has deeply engendered my contemplation.
17. Having observed for nearly two months, I have witnessed the rise and fall of the Ming Dynasty. It rose under Zhu Yuanzhang, flourished under Zhu Di, declined under Tianqi, and perished under Chongzhen. The background of several chapters in the textbooks is the intricate story.
18. After the watermelon was weighed, he also demanded that it be kept ripe. Moreover, he publicly flipped over the boss's scale pan, exposing the magnet that the boss had been manipulating to everyone's gaze.
19. True visionaries, "Once aware of the vastness of the world, still cherish the greenery of the grass and trees." Regardless of how much they have seen of the world, their high status, or the great achievements they have made, they still treat the ordinary people with humility and sincerely respect anyone who earns their own living.
20. I am a child who is passionately fond of history, and of course, there are countless history books at home, such as: "The Matters of the Han Dynasty," "Tang Customs," "The Five Thousand Years of China..." But my favorite book has to be "The Matters of the Ming Dynasty."
21. "Ming Dynasty: Those Matters," an online serialized novel, written by Lao Mingyue, whose real name is Shi Yue. While writing, he also compiled and published the book, which consists of a total of 7 volumes.
22. The Battle of Panyang Lake was the battle that made Zhu Yuanzhang famous, and the Battle of Lake Poyang also laid the foundation for his unification of China. Zhu Yuanzhang won the Battle of Panyang Lake because he was able to defeat a larger enemy with fewer forces, to overcome the strong with the weak, and to conquer the large with the small, which was a result of cleverly exploiting Chen Youlang's mistakes. Facing the vast fleet and well-equipped Chen army, Zhu Yuanzhang calmly and swiftly exploited the enemy's weaknesses and mistakes, turning disadvantages into advantages. At the very beginning of his approach to Lakekou, he strategically deployed troops at the Weiyang River and Lake Poyang, as well as at various straits between the Yangtze River and Lake Poyang, to block and restrict the deployment of their forces, preventing them from utilizing the advantages of their large fleet, and thus forming a strategic encirclement of Chen Youlang. Therefore, he held the strategic initiative from the start. Then, he concentrated most of his warships and troops to sequentially strike at the Chen army, and he was skilled at utilizing natural conditions such as wind and currents to seize advantageous positions for attacks in a timely manner. He did not miss the chance to implement fiery attacks, fully utilizing the power of firearms. Finally, he created a famous battle example in the history of China's naval battles by defeating a larger enemy with fewer forces, overwhelming the strong with the weak, and defeating the large with the small.
23. This is a despicable person who seeks only profit and fears the strong while bullying the weak.
24. Lenin stopped her and said, "No need to be like that, you've already walked half the way carrying something, while I am empty-handed. Please go first!" He said the word "please" loudly and warmly. Then he leaned against the wall, allowing the female worker to go up the stairs before he descended.
25. In this book, we see one after another: ugly little men, one after another eunuchs who are专治夺权, one after another traitorous ministers who forget justice for personal gain, of course, and also see brave generals who sacrifice their lives for righteousness, and lone heroes who stand by the right path. After reading this book and looking back, I realized that I saw a lot of changes in it: changes in people, changes in things, changes in the environment... And these changes all started with "interests": brothers killing each other, fathers and sons turning against each other, and a once peaceful dynasty being turned into chaos. Isn't all this caused by "interests"?
26. After reading a classic masterpiece, everyone must have a lot of feelings. It's time to sit down and write a thoughtful review properly. Are you at a loss for how to write a review now?
27. I will also apply the concept of "unity of knowledge and action," combining the principles I understand with my actions, and strive to move forward with determination and perseverance!
28. This book is also characterized throughout by themes such as: rights, exploitation, deception, flattery, factionalism, fraud, deception of the lower ranks, and weakness. Of course, there is also loyalty, integrity, kindness, and selflessness. However, no matter what, we cannot change history, and we must respect history! To understand that period of history, the essence left behind by that period, such as Zhu Di ordering Jie Jin and others to compile the "Yongle Dadian" (The Great Compendium of the Yongle Era), a national treasure! In short, no one is perfect. My suggestion is for you to read this part of history with a correct world view, and you will surely gain something from it! Continue to the next part of history!
29. Thank you for the bright moon then, thank you for writing such a unique and timeless masterpiece.
30. After the Ming Dynasty, during the reign of Emperor Chongzhen, it felt quite exhausting. The Ming Dynasty had exhausted its fate, and the mess was too chaotic. Although Emperor Chongzhen wanted to do something to turn the tide, he ultimately faced both natural disasters and man-made calamities, internal and external troubles, and his reign came to an end in the 17th year.
31. "There are people beyond people, and there are heavens beyond heavens." Great individuals are everywhere in the world. Many capable people work hard, and the big shots are right beside us, in people's daily lives of food, clothing, housing, and transportation. They are modest and stable, and when not taking action, they appear ordinary and not at all eye-catching; but when they do take action, they can surprise everyone and震撼 the crowd. When encountering great individuals, one should be humble in asking for guidance, not be impolite and offend them, and certainly not "aspire to the heavens" and vie for resources with them, leading to a situation where both parties are destroyed. It is well-known that sometimes knowing is a form of wisdom; patience, sometimes, is a form of ability.
32. Those who are willing to bow down to the weak possess a broad perspective and strong character, which enables them to gain the trust and support of many, leading to a wider path in life.
33. In the remaining years, let us lower our heads in time to become more humble, more rational, and more kind-hearted.
34. The Battle of Pan Yang Lake was won by Zhu Yuanzhang's composure, achieving victories against overwhelming odds, against the stronger with the weaker, and against the larger with the smaller. In life, we often encounter difficulties. We must not panic, but remain calm and not let ourselves be distracted. When things reveal cracks, we should quickly observe them and exaggerate the cracks, turning the adverse situation into a favorable one.
35. In the TV drama "Conquest," there is a scene where Sun Honglei, playing the role of Liu Huajiang, goes to a street vendor to buy melons.
36. A person's cultivation and character are reflected in how they treat those who are weaker than themselves.
37. Only by lowering one's head can one learn from others' strengths, avoid the obstacles at one's feet, and treat the weak around them kindly.
38. No matter how capable a person is, there are a few people to whom they must bow their head, or else they may suffer misfortune. 39. "A gentleman's body can be big or small, and a man's ambition can bend and stretch." A person with foresight, though at a high position, does not become proud, and though fallen to the lowest point, does not become discouraged. They do not indulge in idle thoughts due to temporary gains or losses. These people can usually endure temporary humility to gain space for future opportunities to display their talents and time to fully realize their ambitions. "A wise person is good at humbling themselves, and it is better to stay低调 than to forcibly stick out one's head." A person with ability also needs to understand that they should bow their head to the following three types of people, endure when necessary, and be able to bend and stretch, leaving room for accumulated opportunities for themselves. Only then can their path in life be broad and smooth.
40. I strongly disagree with the notion that flattery and sycophancy are necessary in the workplace. As a derogatory term, when people hear the phrase "sycophancy," they actually feel a strong aversion to it. If in the workplace, people are asked to do something that goes against their own values, then such a workplace is definitely problematic. In addition, there are three other aspects that make me feel that flattery and sycophancy are unnecessary in the workplace.
41. Looking back 500 years to the matters of the Ming Dynasty, the dynasty was indeed prosperous in its early and middle periods, with Zheng He's voyages to the Western seas, his awe-inspiring power spreading across the four corners of the world. But who would have thought that the Great Ming Dynasty would only last for 300 years, and that the Qing Dynasty would fall seriously behind the world afterward. Standing in the future 500 years from now and looking at the present, it seems to be like the rise of the early Ming Dynasty, but what will the future hold? Only history has the answer. In the long river of history, emperors are only small roles, and for individuals, as the book concludes, there is only one success – to live life in one's own way. That is enough.
42. A truly visionary person will bow down to three kinds of people.
43. Reading history makes one wise. So, when we encounter a good book like "Those Things in the Ming Dynasty," shouldn't we take some action?
44. The article "Those Matters in the Ming Dynasty" mainly tells about some events concerning the Ming Dynasty during the three centuries from 1344 to 1644. It offers a panoramic display of the destinies of the seventeen emperors of the Ming Dynasty, as well as other royal nobles and common people. It focuses particularly on official political struggles, wars, and the strategies of emperors, and also includes the interpretations of the political and economic systems and ethical norms of that time. "Those Matters in the Ming Dynasty: Hongwu the Great Emperor" starts from the origin of Zhu Yuanzhang and ends with the Jingnan Campaign, in which the Yongle Emperor seized the throne. It narrates the most arduous and heroic founding process of the Ming Dynasty.
45. Sometimes, one must bow one's head to recognize the path beneath one's feet and understand the wisdom of dealing with the world.
46. Approach outstanding individuals around you, bow down to learn from them, improve yourself, and strive to reach the beautiful goals you desire.
47. Flattery may cater to the tastes of some people, but it is ultimately not the right path. In the workplace, there are some who have become leaders due to good luck, but they often have a wrong assessment of their own abilities, so they pay special attention to those who flatter and curry favor. However, if a person cannot even recognize themselves, it is unlikely that there will be any good development under their leadership. The way of flattery may bring temporary benefits, but it ultimately hampers one's own prospects, and it is not a correct path.
48. First and foremost, I should crouch down and give myself a hug, after all, this book is quite lengthy. The previous me wouldn't have been able to finish it. But I kept listening and reading, and eventually, I did finish it. It should be a good omen, right!
49. Taking advantage of the free time during this year's winter vacation, I once again picked up the book "Those Things of the Ming Dynasty," which tells the history of the Ming Dynasty.
50. "The Stories of the Ming Dynasty" recounts the辉煌 and decline experienced by generations of emperors and ministers from the end of the Yuan Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, the cunning intrigues between emperors and ministers, and the deceit and cunning within the imperial palace. It features both upright and loyal ministers and valiant generals, as well as cunning and shameless traitors. From the revered emperors to the lowly street urchins of humble origin, each character is vividly depicted. The book is more like a drama, where the reader feels immersed in the story. The thrilling historical turning points grip the reader's throat, making them sweat with tension, worry like ants on a hot pot, be startled as if they've hit the jackpot, or remain calm as if walking through an empty alley. The entire process flows naturally, a seamless narrative, with fresh and humorous writing. It changes the dry and complex image of history books, boldly combining contemporary social trends and fashions, bringing readers a new experience, and effectively stimulating the interest of young readers, igniting their new desire for knowledge of traditional culture and history.
51. Some people treat those who are superior to them with a friendly and amiable demeanor, smiling warmly. However, when dealing with those who are inferior to them, they speak sharply and with a stern expression, their face full of severity.
52. In fact, each of us is an article, purely original, with no plagiarism. While writing our own piece of text, we witness its rise and fall, its rise and fall, its strength and then its timidity, its prosperity and then its decline. As the saying goes, "People cannot be in good health for a hundred days, and flowers cannot be in full bloom for a hundred days." This reminds me of the words of Cao Xueqin, "In those days, the jade tablets were piled high, the withered grass and willow trees once formed the scene of singing and dancing. Spider silk was entangled on the ornate beam, and green gauze was now pasted on the thatched window. What was said was that the grease was thick and the powder was fragrant, but how could the silver hair on the temples turn white yesterday? The bones were sent to the yellow earth at the foot of the mound, and tonight, the mandarin ducks are sleeping under the red lantern curtain." How to write this article of ourselves well, how to write our own affairs well, is indeed a matter, but it's not a big deal. However, at any time and place, we should hold a kind thought, a sense of perseverance, a glimmer of hope, and a touch of romance for the future. Believe that this article will not be too bad.
53. As an ancient saying goes: "A good merchant hides his wealth as if it were empty, and a gentleman with great virtues appears as if he were foolish." No matter how capable or talented a person may be, they should not overly display themselves or boast. Otherwise, they may provoke jealousy and face setbacks. Therefore, one must deeply understand the art of adapting to the times and being perceptive, being wise and resourceful, in order to enjoy the hustle and bustle at a leisurely pace and live a stable life. In dealing with people, one should be flexible and harmonious. One should not force things too much, as it is better to "anger a gentleman than a small person." Since dealing with small people can be challenging, the best approach is to maintain vigilance, avoid them as much as possible, and spend less time with them.
54. Arguing with family members may bring temporary gains, but it loses a piece of affection; fighting with family members brings disputes, and loses emotional bonds. Home is a place of love, not a place of logic. It is necessary to modestly admit mistakes and live in harmony to maintain the unity of the family, so that the family members do not feel cold, and the home can be warm. For family members, why not show more tolerance and less competition, more care and less complaint, more warmth and less rivalry? Bowing to family members is not a disgrace, and bowing to lovers is not strange. Only with strong emotions can they grow old together.
55. The language of this book is vivid and descriptive, and it incorporates elements of fiction, adding an element of fun to the entire book. Come on, read "Ming Dynasty's Matters" too! The moving and emotional text will definitely keep you wanting more!
56. The entire book revolves around the Zhu family enterprise group. The Chief CEO Zhu Yuanzhang and Zhu Di were both wise and decisive leaders with strong execution abilities! They were skilled at utilizing people, making almost all talents fully utilized, and they knew when to discard a person once their usefulness was over. It was also because the first chairman of the board did not trust normal people and employed eunuchs. This led to the popularity of this product in the dynasty. The reason for the downfall of this dynasty lies in the presence of the censors and the excessive power of the civil official group, which suppressed the imperial power. Because of the civil officials' inaction (idle talk and bombast) and the censors' interference (impeachment), both of which had a combined effect that led to the demise of the Ming Dynasty. It is estimated that the elder knew nothing about this, and if he had known, he would have regretted it deeply!
