In the pursuit of the essence of life, learning to let go and embrace the distant unattainable is an indispensable experience in everyone's journey of growth.
1. Life is a whirlwind of emptiness, where gold is empty, silver is empty, fame is empty, profit is empty, power is empty, and status is empty. When coming, one arrives naked; when going, one leaves like a wisp of smoke.
2. We can pursue it, but if we cannot achieve what we seek, then let it be as heaven decides. The most terrifying fact is that if you cannot achieve what you seek, you still cannot let it go, you always harbor it in your heart, feeling melancholic and distressed, and even becoming cynical and having a strong sense of resentment, which can be very dangerous.
3. If Li Bai, after making an effort and trying, still fails to obtain what he seeks, he should timely let go and change the track of his life. Unburden himself from the knots of worry, release his expectations, and go gallivanting around mountains and rivers, writing poetry and drinking wine. Isn't that also worth living in the world?
4. The most sober way to live in life is to let go completely if you strive for something and cannot attain it!
5. Unable to attain what he desired, yet unable to let it go, Li Bai kept pouring his sorrows into wine until the end of his life.
6. A passage from the People's Daily cured me for a long time: "Oh, life! Where is there such a thing as a perfect solution? In the brief span of a hundred years, life is merely about making choices. Holding smoke and fire to make a living, walking, forgetting, following the wind, watching, and being composed. Half of life is smoke and fire, and half is serene joy. Half of life is clear-headed, and half is released. Suffering and sweetness are life, and one day and one night are days."
7. I praised Xu Xiake's attitude towards life in an article. However, a netizen commented: "You should learn more about Xu Xiake and see how he meticulously sought a career in government during his early years, and only changed his track and learned to let go after being unable to make it in."
8. The officialdom does not belong to Xu Xiake, so he lets it go and seeks the mountains and rivers. The court does not belong to Li Bai, so he cannot let it go, and he spends his entire life accompanied by sorrow.
9. You yearn for fame and fortune, for世俗 sense of success and brilliance, and there is nothing wrong with that. But if you keep struggling and can't reach it, it indicates that these things were never meant to belong to you. You should go in search of what truly belongs to you.
10. The Bright Moon of That Year said: "The reason I wrote about Xu Xiake is to tell you that, compared to a thing, so-called fame and fortune are truly trivial. That thing is to live a life in the way you like."
11. We all understand this principle, but it is fundamentally impossible to subdue the restless desires within us, and it is indeed very difficult to let go!
12. Indeed, everyone is caught in the mundane world, and no one can truly escape the snares of the secular world, not even the Buddha Shakyamuni, who had decided to renounce the world, would forget about his aging father, his wife, and his children. Xu Xiake, of course, could not avoid the mundane customs, and we are all the same. Desires for fame, fortune, wealth, and sexual love are ingrained in our genes, and no one dislikes them.
13. The most typical example is Li Bai. He was very eager to hold office, to assist the ruler in governing the country and pacifying the world, to give full play to his ambitions, and to live a carefree life. However, after a bumpy journey for most of his life, he still had nothing to show for his efforts, was at a loss for what to do, and endured cold glances and melancholy. If he seriously reflected on himself, he would find out that, in fact, he was not suited for office work, nor did he have the emotional intelligence, resources, or abilities required for a government position.
14. In the end of that year, Mingyue wrote vividly about Xu Xiake's deeds in "Ming Dynasty: Those Matters." He disliked fame and wealth, and the sordid pursuit of power, but instead chose to travel the world with a bamboo staff and straw sandals, wandering wherever the wind took him, immersing himself in the scenery of mountains and rivers, and taking pride in his indifference to the world.
15. I immediately searched through historical books and found that Xu Xiake indeed also wanted to pursue a career in the civil service through the imperial examination, but due to various reasons, he was unable to obtain a government post, so he chose to travel for the rest of his life.
16. When Li Bai never gave up, always feeling that there would suddenly appear an enlightened ruler who would recognize him, just like inviting Zhuge Liang and paying him great importance by visiting the thatched cottage three times. Therefore, his entire life was filled with fluctuations between hope and disappointment, and his destiny was fraught with misfortunes.
