2. As long as you understand this, there is no need to worry about what others think of you in the future, nor is it necessary to let them praise you. The greatest realization for an adult is never to live in the words of others. Don't take nice words to heart, and don't let unpleasant words hurt you either."

3. 谁人背后无人说，哪个人前不说人！不管你有多么优秀，多么强大，多么完美，总会有人嘀咕你，评论你，对你说三道四，指手划脚，甚至给你造谣传谣。你如果在意别人的想法，会让自己成为别人思想和价值观的囚徒，还会让自己持续精神内耗，惴惴不安，苦不堪言。

3. It's said behind everyone's back, and everyone talks about others in front of them! No matter how outstanding, strong, or perfect you are, there will always be someone whispering about you, commenting on you, talking behind your back, pointing fingers, and even spreading rumors about you. If you pay attention to what others think, you'll make yourself a prisoner of their thoughts and values, and you'll also continue to waste your mental energy, be anxious, and endure untold suffering.

6. 有一个叫士成绮的人，因为非常崇拜老子，跋山涉水几百里，赶到洛邑拜访他。

6. There was a person named Shi Chengqi who, due to his great admiration for Laozi, traveled over hundreds of miles, climbing mountains and crossing rivers, to visit him in Luoyi.

7. 推开老子的家门，他看到里面乱七八糟的样子，心里很失落。又看到老子懒懒散散地坐在屋子里，衣冠不整，头发蓬乱，就认为老子是一个无能之辈，心中升起一股鄙夷之气。

7. Pushing open Laozi's door, he saw the chaotic mess inside and felt disappointed. Seeing Laozi lounging around in the house, disheveled and with untamed hair, he concluded that Laozi was an incompetent person, and a feeling of disdain rose within him.

8. 他骂骂咧咧地说，我听说你是一个不得了的圣人，所以走这么远的路来看你，想不到你这么糟糕，根本配不上我的尊敬，说罢，摔门而去。

8. He cursed and grumbled, "I heard you were quite a remarkable saint, so I came all this way to see you. I never thought you were so terrible; you're not worthy of my respect at all." With that, he slammed the door shut and left.

9. 第二天，士成绮觉得自己的话有些过分，就跑去跟老子道歉。老子双目微闭，自言自语的说道，你说我是牛，我不会真的变成牛，你说我是马，我也不会真的变成马，无论你怎么说我，认识我，评价我，我还是那个我呀，我就坐在这里，从来就没有发生任何改变。

9. The next day, Shi Chengqi felt that his words were a bit excessive, so he went to apologize to Laozi. Laozi's eyes were slightly closed, and he muttered to himself, "If you say I am a cow, I won't really become a cow; if you say I am a horse, I won't really become a horse. No matter what you say about me, understand me, or evaluate me, I am still the same me. I just sit here, and there has never been any change."

10. 别人眼中的你，不是你。每个人都是一个独立的灵魂，不被任何人所定义，只有自己才有权利定义自己的人生。

10. You are not as others see you. Everyone is an independent soul, not defined by anyone else, and only you have the right to define your own life.

11. 全世界的人都认可我，我也不会因之而感到得意，全世界的人都否定我，我也不会因此而感到悲伤。认清自己和外界之间的界限，不把自己的荣辱交给别人来判断，不把自己的命运交给别人来定义。

11. The whole world recognizes me, and I will not feel proud about it; the whole world denies me, and I will not feel sad about it either. Recognize the boundary between oneself and the outside world, do not entrust others to judge one's honor and disgrace, and do not hand over one's destiny to be defined by others.

12. 每个人都是站在自己的立场和角度来看待别人，如果你符合他们的利益，他们就抬举你，亲近你，尊敬你，笼络你，如果你不符合他们的利益，或者背离他们的利益诉求，他们就会打压你，排挤你，冷落你，伤害你。

12. Everyone views others from their own perspective and standpoint. If you align with their interests, they will flatter you, get close to you, respect you, and win your favor. However, if you do not align with their interests or go against their demands, they will suppress you, exclude you, ignore you, and harm you.

13. 所有的观点后面都是立场，所有的立场后面都是利益诉求，所有的利益诉求后面都是赤裸裸的欲望。

13. Behind all opinions lie positions, behind all positions lie interests, and behind all interests lie naked desires.

14. 不要对任何人抱有任何形式的期待，不要在乎别人怎么想你，看你，说你，我们只有埋头做好自己的事，见自己喜欢的人，看自己喜欢的风景，按照自己喜欢的方式度过一生。

14. Do not have any expectations of anyone in any form, do not care about what others think of you, how they look at you, or what they say about you. We should only focus on doing our own things, meeting the people we like, enjoying the scenery we love, and living our lives in the way we like.
