7. The technique of influencing officials and nobles.

8. 君子不念旧恶。

8. A gentleman does not bear a grudge against old enemies.

9. Men without a wife and no master of wealth, women without a husband, their bodies are empty.

10. 世上无难事，只怕有心人。

10. There are no difficulties in the world, only those who are not determined.

11. 药不跟卖，病不讨医。

11. No medicine without a sale, no illness without a doctor's visit.

12. 宁恶本乡一捻土，莫爱他乡万两金。?>

12. It's better to have a pinch of soil from one's hometown than to cherish ten thousand ounces of gold in another land.

13. 胜败兵家之常事。

13. Victory and defeat are common occurrences in military campaigns.

14. 瓜熟自落。

14. When melons are ripe, they fall off by themselves.

15. 巧者多劳拙者闲。

15. The clever are busy and the clumsy are idle.

16. 哭有几样：若干着口喊谓之嚎，扭搜出些眼泪儿来谓之啕。又要哭得有眼泪，又要哭得有心肠，才算是嚎啕痛哭嘿。

16. There are different types of crying: some are called "howling" when they let out loud shouts, and others are called "crying" when they produce some tears. One must cry with tears and also with a willing heart to be considered as howling and crying in pain.

17. 一叶浮萍归大海，为人何处不相逢。

17. A leaf floats and returns to the vast sea, where else can one not meet people?

18. 看僧面看佛面。

18. To see the monk is to see the Buddha.

19. 清虚人事少，寂静道心生。

19. The tranquil person has few worldly affairs, and a serene heart arises from the path of cultivation.

20. 老虎进城，家家都闭门。

20. The tiger comes to the city, and every household closes its doors.

21. 龙游浅水遭虾戏，虎落平原被犬欺。

21. When the dragon plays in shallow waters, it is teased by crabs; when the tiger falls in the plain, it is bullied by dogs.

22. 夜行以烛，无烛则止。

22. If there is no candle, stop when it's dark.

23. 得胜的猫儿欢似虎。

23. A victorious cat is as joyful as a tiger.

24. 道化贤良释化愚。

24. Taoist sages enlighten the foolish.

25. 目不视恶色，耳不听淫声。

25. Not to gaze upon what is ugly, and not to listen to indecent sounds.

28. The Emperor of the Upper Realm is both a father and a ruler, and the Emperor of the Lower Realm is both a subject and a son.

29. 脱得去，谢神明。

29. It's removable; thank the gods.

30. 有风方起浪，无潮水自平。

30. Waves arise with the wind, and the water becomes calm without the tide.

31. 人将礼乐为先。

31. People prioritize etiquette and music.

32. 千般巧计，不如本分为人；万种强徒，怎似随缘节俭。心行慈善，何须努力看经？意欲损人，空读如来一藏！

32. All kinds of cunning schemes are not as good as being honest in one's actions; all sorts of aggressive methods are no match for living a life of contentment and thrift. If one wishes to engage in charitable deeds, why must one strive to study scriptures? If one has the intention to harm others, it is all in vain to read the entire teachings of the Buddha!

33. 好死不如恶活。

33. Better a bad life than a good death.

34. 差之毫厘，失之千里。

34. A small mistake leads to a big mistake.

35. 今朝有酒今朝醉，莫管门前是与非。

35. Today there is wine, today I'll be drunk; don't worry about right and wrong in front of the gate.
