1. 有一位皇帝,登上城墙说:「这么多人,国必强胜」,高僧说:「我只见到两个人,一个贪名,一个图利」。
1. There was an emperor who climbed the city wall and said, "With so many people, the country must be strong and victorious." The great monk replied, "I only see two people, one greedy for fame and the other for profit."
2. 而最顶级的持戒,莫过于戒色养身,戒怒养心,戒欲养神。
2. The highest form of self-discipline is to refrain from lust to maintain physical health, to refrain from anger to nourish the mind, and to refrain from desires to cultivate the spirit.
3. 9华如诬,巧言、令色、足恭一也,皆以无为有者也。此之为考志。
3. If one is deceitful, using eloquent words, pleasing demeanor, and excessive politeness, all of these are ways of presenting something as if it were something else. This is what is referred to as 'examining one's intentions'.

11. 日本科学家做过一个实验,把人在生气的时候呼出的气体收集起来,制作成汽水,然后让小白鼠喝下去,小白鼠3天之内就会死亡。可见生气对人体的影响是多么的严重。

12. 能够控制自己情绪的人,比拿下一座城池的将军更加伟大。发脾气是本能,控制自己不发脾气才是本事。我们总会遇到一些不如意、不顺心的事情,见到一些和自己格格不入的人,但如果动不动就生气,不仅无利于事情的改变,还会让自己的身心健康遭受严重的反噬。
12. A person who can control their emotions is greater than a general who captures a city. Losing one's temper is an instinct, but being able to control oneself from losing one's temper is the real skill. We will always encounter some things that are not as we wish, and some people who are not compatible with us, but if one gets angry easily, it is not only detrimental to changing the situation, but it will also severely harm one's physical and mental health.
13. 行善不求回报,无缘(条件)大慈,同体大悲是圣者之行。

17. A righteous person uses unrighteous methods, and those unrighteous methods become righteous; an unrighteous person uses righteous methods, and those righteous methods become unrighteous.
18. 好、坏,都会随时间消失,没有例外。上苍对时间的安排,绝对平等。
18. Good and bad, they will all disappear with time, with no exceptions. The arrangement of time by the heavens is absolutely equal.
19. 要做好你个人的卫生,尤其「心理卫生」最为重要。

23.荣辱纷至沓来满眼间,不如安分守己随遇而安,身体贫困少有忧虑为清福,名声显赫却如山丘长满冤仇,粗茶淡饭也能饱腹,锦衣玉食又怎能长久,世间最重大的唯有生死,白玉黄金终究都是过眼云烟。
24. 有志气的人发一次愿,终身坚持。没志气的人天天发愿,浮而不实。
24. People with ambition make a vow once and stick to it for life. People without ambition make vows every day, but they are superficial and insubstantial.
25. 县名。位于安徽省芜湖县西。三国时曹操攻孙权,筑城于此,师老无功,因称无为城。宋置无为县,明时省县入州,清仍之,至民国改州为县。

They do not argue over trivial matters, nor worry over complex ones. They do not get angry in great anger nor overly joyful in great happiness, which can nourish the mind.

37. When you have beauty in your heart, the world you see from your eyes will be different.
38. 嫉妒别人,仇视异己,就等于把生命交给别人。
38. Jealousy of others and hostility towards those who are different are equivalent to handing over one's life to others.
39. 人于改过,不可因循退缩:小者如芒刺在肉,速为抉剔;大者如毒蛇啮指,速与斩除。
39. When a person decides to correct their mistakes, they should not procrastinate or retreat: for minor ones, they should quickly remove the thorn that is like a thorn in the flesh; for major ones, they should swiftly cut off the finger that is being bitten by a venomous snake.
40. 每个人的心,是最善巧的工匠,可以把自己雕刻成佛,也可以雕刻成魔。
40. The heart of everyone is the most skillful artisan, capable of sculpting oneself into a Buddha or into a demon.
41. 法律是事后追诉,但伤害已成事实,因果是事先防范,能杜渐防微。
41. Law is about pursuing after the fact, but the injury has already occurred as a fact. Causality is about preventing beforehand, which can prevent the gradual development and stop the萌芽.
42. 能把奉献当作是一种快乐,那你所到之处,一定受人欢迎。
42. If you can consider dedication as a form of joy, then wherever you go, you will be warmly welcomed.
43. 知足常足,终身不辱,知止常止,终身不耻辱。管理好自己的欲望,颐养心神,修身养性,才能够行稳致远,左右逢源。
43. Being content is always enough to avoid dishonor throughout one's life; knowing when to stop is always enough to avoid shame throughout one's life. By managing one's desires well, nurturing one's mind and spirit, and cultivating one's character and nature, one can walk steadily towards distant goals and find success on all sides.
44. 良心是每个人最公正的审判官,骗得了别人,却永远骗不了自己的良心。
44. Conscience is each person's most just judge; it can deceive others, but it can never deceive one's own conscience.
45. 佛陀从不勉强别人,做不喜做的事情,他只告诉众生,何者善?何者恶?
45. The Buddha never coerces others into doing things they do not like. He only tells all sentient beings what is good and what is evil.
46. 说话不要有攻击性,不要有杀伤力,不夸己能,不扬人恶,自然化敌为友。
46. Speak without aggression, without destructive intent, do not boast of one's abilities, and do not spread others' faults. In this way, you can naturally turn enemies into friends.
47. 赞叹别人,要在大庭广众;责备人,必须在私下。
47. Praise others in public; reprove them in private.
48. 这个身体,只是借我们暂住而已,如房屋,无常一到,就要搬家,切勿执着。
48. This body is merely a temporary residence borrowed to us, like a house. Once the time of impermanence arrives, we must move out. Do not cling to it.
49. 失去了鸭子,你会急忙找回来,失去了良心,却不见有人着急。
49. If you lose a duck, you will rush to find it back, but if you lose your conscience, you won't see anyone in a hurry.
50. 清静无为,则天与之时;恭廉守节,则地与之财。君子虽富贵,不以养伤身,虽贫贱,不以利毁廉。知为吏者,奉法以利人;不知为吏者,枉法以侵人。
50. If one practices tranquility and inaction, the heavens will grant them the right time; if one is respectful, honest, and adheres to moral principles, the earth will provide them with wealth. A gentleman, even in wealth and honor, does not harm his body through indulgence; even in poverty and dishonor, he does not destroy his integrity for gain. Those who know how to be officials uphold the law for the benefit of others; those who do not know how to be officials twist the law to harm others.
51. 闻谤不怒,虽谗焰熏天,如举火焚空,终将自息。闻谤而怒,虽巧心力辨,如春蚕作茧,自取缠绵。
51. When hearing slander without anger, even if the malice is as fierce as flames engulfing the sky, it is like lighting a fire in the air, which will eventually extinguish itself. On the other hand, if one becomes angry upon hearing slander, even if they use cunning and effort to refute it, it is like a silkworm spinning a cocoon, only to entangle themselves.
52. 巴菲特说:“强者平静如水,弱者易怒如虎,智者解决问题,愚者发泄情绪,真正厉害的人,早已戒掉了情绪,情绪就像心魔,你不控制它,它便吞噬你。
52. Buffett said, "The strong are calm as water, the weak are as angry as tigers, the wise solve problems, the foolish vent their emotions. The truly formidable people have long given up their emotions. Emotions are like the evil spirit in the heart; if you do not control it, it will consume you."
53. 为学日益。为道日损。损之又损,以至於无为。无为而不为。取天下常以无事,及其有事,不足以取天下。
53. The pursuit of learning increases day by day. The pursuit of the Tao diminishes day by day. Diminish again and again, until one reaches the state of doing nothing. To do nothing is not to do anything. To gain the world, one should always keep it in a state of tranquility. When there is turmoil, it is not enough to gain the world.
54. 因小果大,莫以恶小而为之,莫以善小而不为。
54. Small causes can lead to great results; do not do evil because it is small, and do not omit to do good because it is small.
55. 一个人在绝境时,还能保有感恩的心是很难得的。
55. It is rare for a person to maintain a grateful heart when they are in dire straits.
56. 不要浪费你的生命,在你知道一定会后悔的地方。
56. Do not waste your life in places where you know you will regret it.
57. 向天丢一把斧头,一定会坠地。诽谤他人,只会伤害你自己。
57. Throw an axe to the sky, it will definitely fall to the ground. Slandering others will only harm yourself.
58. 勇于接受别人的批评,正好可以调整自己的缺点。
58. Being brave enough to accept others' criticism is exactly what can help adjust one's own shortcomings.
59. 人很奇怪,不了解自己,却又每天想去干涉别人,弄得痛苦不堪。
59. People are strange; they don't understand themselves yet they want to interfere with others every day, leading to immense suffering.
60. 五官刺激,不是真正的享受,「内在安详」,才是下手之处。

64. 虽然我不知道自己还有多少时间,但是至少我知道我还有时间,起码我要让我现在的每一分、每一秒都实现其应有的价值,抓紧现在的时间用知识和品德塑造我的灵魂。即使当我的时间即将结束的时候,我回首往事,也不会因为碌碌无为、虚度年华而悔恨。这样我也就有走这一遭的意义了。
64. Although I do not know how much time I have left, at least I know that I still have time. At the very least, I want to ensure that every minute and every second of my present time fulfills its due value, and to seize the present moment to shape my soul with knowledge and virtue. 65. 体会到生命无常的人,便不会再放荡和贪逸,所以说对于生命无常的觉醒是智慧的开端。

66. 忍人所不能忍,行人所不能行名「大雄」,故名「大雄宝殿」。即佛也。
66. To endure what others cannot bear and to walk where others cannot tread is named "Da Xiong," hence the name "Da Xiong Temple." It refers to the Buddha.
67. 什么是空?难舍能舍,看得破,放得下即是空,空是自在安详义。
67. What is emptiness? It is the ability to let go, to see through things, and to放下, which is called emptiness. Emptiness means being at ease and serene.

They may even harm their own health and risk their life, leading to a situation that is irredeemable.
71. 若懂得制心,调伏这匹野马(妄心),便是上根利智。
71. If one understands how to control one's mind and subdue this wild horse (the wandering mind), it is the mark of superior wisdom and intelligence.
72. 事无难易,惟心坚忍可成矣!所谓金刚非坚,愿力唯坚。
72. Whether a matter is difficult or easy, it can be accomplished if one's heart is firm and perseverant! As they say, the so-called金刚 (Vajra) is not about hardness, but about the firmness of willpower.
73. 如果一个人把自己的欲望放大,不断地让自己为各种各样的欲望而操劳,只会让自己活成欲望的囚徒,完全没有了理性和智慧。
73. If a person magnifies his desires and constantly labors for various kinds of desires, he will only turn himself into a prisoner of desires, completely losing reason and wisdom.
74. 感谢上苍,我所拥有的,感谢上苍,我所没有的。
74. Thank the heavens for what I have, and thank the heavens for what I do not have.
75. 无法去除内心的烦恼,纵然遍游世界,也得不到快乐。
75. It is impossible to rid oneself of inner troubles; even if one travels around the world, one cannot find happiness.
76. 一个常常看别人缺点的人,本身就不够好,因为他没有时间检讨自己。
76. A person who often notices others' shortcomings is not very good themselves, as they do not have time to examine themselves.
77. 7强国战兵,霸国战智,王国战义,帝国战德,皇国战无为。
77. The strong nations fight with their warriors, the dominant nations fight with their wisdom, the kingdoms fight with their righteousness, the empires fight with their virtue, and the imperial nations fight with their non-action.
78. 有了智慧,自然能了解真理,能了解真理,生活自然快乐。
78. With wisdom, one naturally understands the truth, and with the understanding of the truth, life naturally becomes joyful.
79. 色欲是人能感受到的最高层次快乐,脑电波激烈放射,电流在全身上下涌动,生命中最高层次的能量剧烈消耗。如果长期沉迷于色欲之中,固然能够享受到片时的快感,却让身体大量透支,让生命能量大量消耗,最后,气血虚弱,精神萎靡,柔弱乏力,一蹶不振。
79. Sexual desire is the highest level of joy that humans can experience, with intense brainwave emissions and electrical currents surging throughout the body, leading to a dramatic consumption of the highest level of energy in life. If one indulges in sexual desire for a long time, although they may enjoy fleeting pleasures, it will excessively drain the body, deplete the life force, and eventually lead to weakness of the Qi and blood, a decline in spirit, frailty, and an inability to recover from a fall.
80. 真正的布施,是把烦恼、忧虑、分别、执着,通通放下。
80. True generosity is to let go of all烦恼, worries, discrimination, and attachment.
81. 佛教用语。非造作,非条件构成的。如:「虚空是无为法。」
81. Buddhist terminology. Not artificial, not composed of conditions. For example: "The void is a law of non-action."
82. 你不能纠正世界上每一个人使天下太平,正如你不能移去全世界的石头和荆棘,使所有的路径平坦。要走得平坦,就得穿一双鞋子,希望得到内心的和平,就要学习控制自己的感觉。
82. You cannot correct everyone in the world to bring peace to the world, just as you cannot remove all the stones and thorns from the world to make all paths smooth. To walk smoothly, you need a pair of shoes; to hope for inner peace, you must learn to control your own feelings.
83. 凡爱说人不是者,往镜前一站,镜中出现一个丑陋的影子,才知正是自己尊容。
83. Those who often speak ill of others should stand in front of a mirror; then they will see an ugly shadow, realizing it is their own handsome face.
84. 蜗牛角内争何事,火石光中寄此身,随贫随富且欢喜,不开口笑是痴人。
84. What disputes inside the snail's horn? In the spark of flint, I寄托 this body. Whether rich or poor, I am always joyful. Not to smile with words is a fool.
