1. When I am silent, I feel fulfilled; when I open my mouth, I feel empty.
2. During the march, there were always some who retired, some who deserted, some who became despondent, and some who betrayed the cause. However, as long as it did not hinder the progress, the farther along the journey, the more the group became a purely and elite force.
3. No matter how much one hears or talks about a bowl of sour and spicy soup, it is always clearer to taste it personally.
4. I cherish my wild grass, but I detest this ground that is adorned with wild grass.
5. China has always had few heroes of failure, few resilient rebellions, few warriors who dare to fight alone, and few mourners willing to console traitors; they gather together when there are signs of victory and scatter in panic when there are signs of defeat. The Europeans and Americans, whose war equipment is more refined than ours, and the Huns, Mongols, and Manchurians, whose war equipment may not be more refined than ours, all seem to have entered a land of no opposition. The phrase "tuo1 beng1 wa3 lie4" (lit. soil collapses and tiles fall) truly captures a sense of self-awareness.
6. The true warrior dares to face the bleakness of life and dares to confront the gushing blood.
7. Familiar walls, the sharp edges at the wall ends; familiar piles of books, the unbound albums at the edge of the piles, the night progressing outside, the infinite distance, countless people, all have something to do with me.
8. But he finally sat alone. The sunny weather again melted his skin, the cold night froze it into a layer of ice, transforming it into a translucent crystal-like shape; the continuous sunny days made him feel like he didn't know what to count anymore, and the rouge on his lips also faded away.
9. The more difficult it is, the more we should do it. Reform has never been a smooth journey.
10. The life that has died has decayed. I have great joy in this decay, for it is through this that I know it is not empty.
11. Games are the most legitimate behavior of children, and toys are the angels of children.
12. Today's celebrities are quite different. They want to wipe away the old debts and start anew as human beings. Compared to the methods of ordinary people, there is indeed a difference between the speed of sending a letter by post or telegraph. Those who are not afraid of being a bit slow may spend some time traveling abroad, building a temple, getting sick, or going for a few days of mountain tours; if they want to do it quickly, they can hold a meeting, recite a scroll of scriptures, give a speech, make a declaration, or even sleep one night and write a poem; if they want to do it even faster, they can simply slap themselves twice, shed a few tears, and just like that, they can transform into a completely new person, with no connection to the "previous me." The General of the Clean Altar, after transforming himself into a crucian carp, swims between the thighs of the female demons. The author might be able to write this scene with great skill, but from now, it seems to lack any novelty. If this method still seems troublesome, one can simply roll their eyes and ask, "Is this my debt?" If it is still too麻烦, one need not even roll the eyes or ask any questions, and the latter method is now widely popular. — Excerpted from "Zhun Fengyue Tan: Cha Jiuzhang" on July 25, 1933, by A Yuan: According to the famous Chinese magical and mythological novel "Journey to the West," the character "General of the Clean Altar" is originally called "Messenger of the Clean Altar," which is the title given to Zhu Bajie after he successfully completed his journey to retrieve the scriptures from the West. The fish is originally written as "mudfish." The events mentioned in the text are all detailed in the seventy-second chapter of this book.

13. Great achievements and hard work are directly proportional; there is a corresponding harvest for every bit of labor. With the accumulation of days, from little to much, miracles can be created.
14. The depths of one's heart are boundless, and in the silence, one hears the thunderous roar. (Lu Xun · "Nameless")
15. Literature and art are the sparks of the national spirit, as well as the beacon lights guiding the future of the national spirit.
16. Embark on the journey of life. The path ahead is long and dark. However, do not be afraid. It is only in the presence of the fearless that there is a way.

17. One must dare to face it, only then can one dare to think, speak, act, and take responsibility.

18. Telling a few little lies can alleviate boredom and relieve frustration; later on, one forgets the truth and believes in the lies. Then, one feels at ease and the world becomes full of natural charm.
19. In Chinese society, there are also many who "sell old age" sincerely. Women can thread a needle, what's so strange about that? Once they reach over a hundred years old, they can hold a grand gathering, thread it in front of everyone, and also donate money in the process. — Excerpted from "Miscellaneous Essays from Qiejie亭 Vol. II · Sixth on 'Literati Jealousy' — Part Two: Selling"
20. Wherever there is genius, I invest the time others spend drinking coffee into my work.
21. I turned the pages of history and found that it had no dates. Sloppy and slanted, every page was written with the words of benevolence, righteousness, and morality. I couldn't sleep horizontally or vertically, so I carefully read for half the night, and only then did I see through the letters that the whole book was written with two characters, "Eat people"!
22. If I can survive, of course I will still study.

28. Only revolutionaries, whether alive or dead, can bring happiness to the people.
29. Before demanding the emergence of geniuses, it should first be demanded that there be a people who can foster the growth of geniuses. — For instance, if one wants to have tall trees or beautiful flowers, one must have good soil; without soil, there will be no flowers or trees; therefore, soil is actually more important than flowers and trees.
30. Suppose there is a person who spits on the roadside, squats down, and watches; soon enough, a crowd is sure to gather around. And suppose another person, for no apparent reason, shouts loudly and runs away; at the same time, everyone is sure to scatter. One truly wonders "where did they come from and where did they go?" Yet, they are also dissatisfied in their hearts and curse their inexplicable targets with an expletive like "Damn it!" However, the person who spit and the one who shouted are ultimately big shots. Of course, there are calm and down-to-earth people. But the respect or disdain for names like "great person" etc., is mostly just a substitute for spitting。——Excerpted from "One Thought at a Time" in the May 14, 1934 issue of "Fringe Literature."
31. Our current top priorities are: first, to survive; second, to have a decent living; and third, to develop.
32. Only the soul of the people is truly valuable; only when it is developed can China truly progress.
33. Humans will never be lonely, because life is progressive and innate.
34. For any nation that is foolish and weak, no matter how physically healthy and robust they may be, they can only be used as meaningless exhibits and spectators. The number of those who die of illness is not something to be considered不幸 (unfortunate). Therefore, our primary focus should be on changing their spirit.
35. Even if it is difficult, one must still do it; the more difficult it is, the more one should do it. Reform has never been smooth sailing; the approval of the skeptics comes only after success...
36. Criticize yourself with a harsh eye, and treat others with a forgiving heart.
37. The facts are often not as beautiful as they sound on the surface. ... If it is said that because ancient artifacts are ancient and unique, they are treasures and should be moved away quickly, this is indeed a reasonable argument. But we don't have two Peiping, and that place is also older than all the existing ancient artifacts. As for the Shang and Zhou dynasties, this place had indeed been there. Why would one neglect it and only move the ancient artifacts? To put it bluntly, it is not because of the "ancientness" of the artifacts, but because after losing Peiping, they can still be carried around and sold for copper coins at any time. — Excerpted from "The False Free Book · Chongshi" on January 31, 1933
38. A coward, even with a towering rage, can only burn away weak grass, what else can it burn?
39. Time is life. Wasting others' time without reason is actually no different from plotting to harm people's lives and take their wealth.
40. All such idle talk doesn't last long, nor does it lead to anything substantial. It is always exposed by the mirror of facts, dragging its tail away.
41. Indeed, a truly great man is one who is free from malice, but when expressed in words and writing, it can only be considered slight malice. The highest form of disrespect is silence, and even not turning one's eyes away.
42. Upon seeing a short sleeve, one immediately thinks of white arms, then immediately thinks of the whole**, then immediately thinks of reproductive organs, then immediately thinks of sexual intercourse, then immediately thinks of hybridization, and then immediately thinks of illegitimate children. It is only at this level that Chinese people's imagination can make such a leap.
43. The spring of my hometown is once again in the air of this alien place, bringing with it the memories of my long-gone childhood, as well as an uncontrollable sense of sorrow. I would rather hide myself in the severe winter, but yet, all around me is the unmistakable harshness of winter, which gives me an extraordinary chill and a cold aura.

46. Make a person's limited life more effective, which is equivalent to extending a person's life.
47. I have always been skeptical of the old saying that Zhaojun's journey to the frontier pacified Han, and that Mulan's military service safeguarded the Sui Dynasty; nor do I believe in the tales of Daji's downfall of the Yin Dynasty, Xishi's submersion of the Wu state, or Yang Fei's chaos in the Tang Dynasty. In my opinion, in a male-dominated society, women will never possess such great power, and the responsibility for rise and fall should fall on men. However, most male authors of the past have tended to attribute the great crimes of defeat and collapse to women, which truly makes them despicable and lackluster men.
48. The heart's worries are boundless, and in the silence, one hears the thunderous roar.
