9. There have been so many great figures with different perspectives, leading to their varied achievements. For instance, Marx, whose vision encompassed the entire world and the whole of human history, saw the laws of society and thus established the philosophy of Marxism. Then there is Galileo, who looked at the entire universe and space, observing the characteristics of stellar motion, paving the way for the peak of physics. And there are others! Like Confucius, whose vision extended to the common people, seeing the ideal society of大同; Han Xin, whose perspective transcended the mundane street fights, establishing remarkable military achievements; and Zhuge Liang, whose vision expanded to the overall situation of the world, influencing the great events of the end of the Han dynasty.

20. Look, from being a scribe who managed a small granary to ultimately becoming the prime minister who assisted the ruler in governing the empire, although it was inspired by the two little mice, how could Li Si have achieved success in that era without stepping out of that small county that束缚ed him for 8 years, going to the Xiao Shengxian Zhuang to learn Confucian culture and broaden his horizons?

24. Li Si, the Prime Minister of the Qin Dynasty, was once just a small warehouse manager in his youth. At that time, Li Si was 26 years old and worked as a low-level scribe responsible for recording the incoming and outgoing grain in the warehouse. Days went by like this, until one day, Li Si went to a toilet outside the warehouse, and such a trivial matter as this actually changed Li Si's attitude towards life. When Li Si entered the toilet, he startled a group of rats inside. These rats, which had made their home in the toilet, were thin, dry, dirty, and smelly, to the point of being extremely disgusting. Seeing these rats, Li Si suddenly thought of the rats in the warehouse he managed. Those creatures, one by one, were eating lusciously, enjoying themselves in the warehouse every day, living a carefree life. Compared with these rats in the toilet in front of him, there was a world of difference! Li Si had worked as a small scribe in this small warehouse for 8 years and had never gone out to see the world outside. Wasn't he just like these little rats in the toilet? Struggling here every day, yet completely unaware of the existence of such a paradise as the warehouse.
25. The same is true for the principles of life. For those without goals, the passage of time only means the increase of age, and the mundane among them can only repeat themselves day after day. Their vision is always confined to their own small world. Therefore, to broaden one's horizons and increase one's knowledge, one must set grandiose goals for oneself.

31. “The rivers and seas do not contend with the small ditches for their purity, and thunder and lightning do not contend with the sparrow for their sound.” This means that the breadth of one's vision determines the height of their achievements. It is because the rivers and seas are boundless and thunder and lightning can bring down heavy rain because they know what they should do and have a broad vision. Without a far-sighted perspective, even the most capable person can be平庸 and accomplish nothing; however, similarly, if one's abilities are limited, even if their vision is as vast as the infinite cosmos, they will not find the invisible path to brilliance.
32. Those with broad horizons will achieve great things, while those with narrow views will accomplish little. Yuan Shu of the Three Kingdoms indeed had deep cunning, but he only saw the benefits of a small territory and boldly declared himself an emperor, leading to the estrangement of his relatives and the betrayal of his loyalists, prompting all the heroes of the realm to rise up against him. Yuan Shu's failure was precisely because his vision was limited to the Central Plains, and only concerned with the superficial. He did not look at the entire world, nor consider the hidden dangers, and ultimately met a tragic end. Now, let's look at Napoleon. As the commander of the artillery of the French royal family, he recognized the trend of the times and resolutely bombarded the remnants of feudalism, thereby ascending to the peak of power that no one had ever reached before. Napoleon was successful, and the acquisition of his empire relied on his ability to see through everything. It was his broad horizons that allowed him to create the European myth of success.
