1. 译文:孔子在河边说:时间就像这流水一样,不分日夜的流淌。
Translation: Confucius said by the river: Time flows like this running water, ceaselessly, without distinguishing between day and night.
2. 人无远虑,必有近忧。
2. If a person does not plan for the distant future, they will undoubtedly face troubles in the near future.
3. 译文:质朴胜过了文饰就会粗野,文饰胜过了质朴就会虚浮,质朴和文饰比例恰当,然后才可以成为君子。
3. Translation: Simplicity, when胜过 embellishment, can become coarse; embellishment, when胜 over simplicity, can become superficial. Only when simplicity and embellishment are in proportion can one become a gentleman.
4. 译文:一个人没有长远的考虑,一定会有近在眼前的忧患。

5. 译文:见到贤能的人就要(努力向他)看齐,见到不贤能的人就要(以他为反面教材)做自省。

6. 译文:切要以忠信为本,不要结交不如自己的朋友,有错误不要怕改正。

7. 君子泰而不骄,小人骄而不泰。
7. A gentleman is calm and not proud, while a small man is proud and not calm.
8. 三军可夺帅也,匹夫不可夺志也。
8. The leader of an army can be changed, but a common man's will cannot be taken away.
9. 温故而知新,可以为师矣。
9. To review the past and learn from it, one can become a teacher.
10. 吾日三省吾身:为人谋而不忠乎?与朋友交而不信乎?传不习乎?
10. I examine myself three times a day: Am I loyal in planning for others? Am I trustworthy in my friendships? Have I neglected to study what I have been taught?
11. 不患人之不己知,患不知人也。
11. Do not worry that people do not know you; worry that you do not know people.
12. 译文:君子心胸宽广,小人经常忧愁。
12. Translation: A gentleman has a broad mind, while a small person is often worried.
13. 译文:学习而不思考,人会被知识的表象所蒙蔽;思考而不学习,则会因为疑惑而更加危险。
13. Translation: To learn without thinking, one will be deceived by the superficiality of knowledge; to think without learning, one will be even more dangerous due to doubts.
14. 译文:君子讲求和谐而不同流合污,小人只求完全一致,而不讲求协调。
14. Translation: The gentleman seeks harmony without being contaminated by evil, while the small man only desires complete uniformity without seeking harmony.
15. 译文:要做好工作,先要使工具锋利。比喻要做好一件事,准备工作非常重要。
15. Translation: To do a good job, one must first make the tool sharp. This metaphorically implies that thorough preparation is crucial for doing something well.
16. 译文:我每天三次反省自己:为别人做事,是否尽心、忠实?和朋友交往,是否真诚?对老师所传授的知识,是否认真复习?
16. Translation: I reflect on myself three times a day: When doing things for others, am I giving my all and being loyal? When interacting with friends, am I being sincere? And when studying the knowledge imparted by my teachers, am I reviewing it diligently?
17. 译文:君子严格要求自己,而小人则千方百计要求、苛求别人。
17. Translation: A gentleman strictly disciplines himself, whereas a small person tries every means to demand or be demanding of others.
18. 欲速则不达,见小利则大事不成。
18. Haste makes waste, and seeking trivial gains will prevent the achievement of major endeavors.
19. 知者不惑,仁者不忧,勇者不惧。
19. The wise are not confused, the benevolent are not anxious, and the brave are not afraid.
20. 译文:学习而又时常的复习,难道不是一件愉快的事吗?有志同道合的人从远方来,不是很令人高兴的吗?人家不了解我,我也不怨恨、恼怒,不也是一个有德的君子吗?
20. Translation: Isn't it a pleasant thing to learn and often review what one has learned? Isn't it delightful to have friends with the same aspirations come from afar? If others do not understand me, and I do not harbor resentment or anger, isn't that also a gentleman with virtue?
21. 言必信,行必果。
21. Words must be kept, actions must be resolute.
22. 主忠信。毋友不如己者,过则勿惮改。
22. Be loyal and faithful. Do not make friends with those who are not as good as yourself, and do not fear to make changes when you have made mistakes.
23. 译文:有知识不会疑惑有仁义不会担忧有勇气不会恐惧。
Translation: 23. A person with knowledge will not be perplexed, one with righteousness will not worry, and one with courage will not fear.
24. 子在川上曰:逝者如斯夫!不舍昼夜!
24. Confucius said by the river: "The departed flow thus! Without ceasing day or night!"
25. 敏而好学,不耻下问。
25. Be quick to learn and not ashamed to ask those who are considered inferior.
26. 译文:颜回这个人很好学。为人不迁怒他人,不重复犯(同样的)错。
26. Translation: Yan Hui is a very diligent student. He does not take his anger out on others and does not repeat the same mistakes.
27. 译文:说话一定要讲信用,做事一定要果断。
27. Translation: When speaking, always be trustworthy; when acting, always be decisive.
28. 工欲善其事,必先利其器。
28. If one is to do a thing well, one must first sharpen one's tools.
29. 知之为知之,不知为不知,是知也。
29. To know what one knows is true knowledge; to recognize what one does not know is also true knowledge.
30. 见贤思齐焉,见不贤而内自省也。
30. When you see a wise person, think of being like them; when you see someone unworthy, reflect on yourself.
31. 译文:每天能学到一些自己没有的知识,每月不忘自己已掌握的知识,这样就可以说是好学的了。?>
31. Translation: To be able to learn something new every day and not forget the knowledge already acquired every month, this can be said to be a sign of being a good learner.
32. 当仁,不让于师。
32. When faced with righteousness, one does not defer to a teacher.
33. 有颜回者好学,不迁怒,不贰过。
33. Yuanyi Hui was a good learner, he did not transfer his anger to others, and he did not repeat the same mistakes.
34. 志士仁人,无求生以害仁,有杀身以成仁。
34. The righteous and the benevolent do not seek life at the expense of righteousness; they are willing to sacrifice their lives to achieve it.
35. 译文:不要求快,不要贪求小利。求快反而达不到目的,贪求小利就做不成大事。
35. Translation: Do not rush, and do not seek trivial gains. Seeking haste will not achieve the goal, and seeking trivial gains will not allow you to accomplish great things.
36. 译文:有益的朋友有三种,有害的朋友有三种。结交正直的朋友,诚信的朋友,知识广博的朋友,是有益的。结交谄媚逢迎的人,结交表面奉承而背后诽谤人的人,结交善于花言巧语的人,是有害的。
36. Translation: There are three types of beneficial friends and three types of harmful friends. It is beneficial to make friends with honest friends, trustworthy friends, and friends with extensive knowledge. It is harmful to make friends with flatterers, with those who flatter on the surface but slander behind one's back, and with those who are skilled in sweet-talking.
37. 学而时习之,不亦说乎?有朋自远方来,不亦乐乎?人不知而不愠,不亦君子乎?
37. Is it not pleasant to learn and practice what one has learned? Is it not joyous to have friends coming from afar? Is it not the mark of a gentleman not to be resentful when others do not recognize one's worth?
38. 日知其所亡,月无忘其所能,可谓好学也已矣。
38. To know what one lacks every day, and to not forget one's abilities every month, can be said to be a good learner.
39. 译文:做事勤敏,又好学,不以问及下于他的人为耻。
39. Translation: Diligent and eager to learn, he does not consider it a shame to ask questions from those who are less knowledgeable than him.
40. 译文:原指以仁为任,无所谦让。后指遇到应该做的事就积极主动去做,不推让。
40. Translation: Originally refers to taking benevolence as one's responsibility and not being willing to show humility. Later on, it refers to being proactive and taking the initiative to do things that should be done without shying away.
41. 译文:自己不愿意的,不要加给别人。
Translation: 41. Do not impose on others what you do not wish for yourself.
42. 译文:复习旧的知识,能够从中有新的体会或发现。这样,就可以做老师了。
42. Translation: Reviewing old knowledge can lead to new insights or discoveries. With this, one can become a teacher.
43. 译文:君子要少说虚话,多干实事。
Translation: 43. A gentleman should speak less empty talk and do more practical things.
44. 译文:君子坦荡而不骄狂,小人骄狂而不坦荡。
44. Translation: A gentleman is magnanimous but not arrogant, while a small person is arrogant but not magnanimous.
45. 君子坦荡荡,小人长戚戚。
45. A gentleman is open and magnanimous, while a small-minded person is often worried and troubled.
46. 士不可以不弘毅,任重而道远。
46. A gentleman cannot be without magnanimity and firmness, for he is burdened with great responsibilities and the path is long and arduous.
47. 译文:士不可不志向远大,意志坚强,因为他肩负重任,路途遥远。
47. Translation: A gentleman must have grand aspirations and a strong will, for he carries great responsibilities and faces a long journey.
48. 译文:那些有志向、有仁德的人,没有为了谋求生存而损害仁德的,只有献出自己的生命来成就仁德的。
48. Translation: Those who are ambitious and have benevolence do not harm benevolence in order to seek survival; they only sacrifice their own lives to achieve benevolence.
49. 君子欲衲于言,而敏于行。
49. A gentleman desires to be reserved in speech and swift in action.
50. 译文:不担心人们不知道自己,只担心自己不知道别人。
Translation: 50. Translation: I am not worried that people do not know me, but I am worried that I do not know others.
51. 学而不思则罔,思而不学则殆。
51. If you learn but do not think, you will be bewildered; if you think but do not learn, you will be in danger.
52. 译文:知道的就说知道,不知道就承认不知道,这才是真正的明智。
52. Translation: If you know, say you know; if you don't, admit you don't. This is truly wise.
53. 君子求诸己,小人求诸人。
53. A gentleman seeks to improve himself, while a small person seeks to impose on others.
54. 益者三友,损者三友。友直,友谅,友多闻,益矣;友便辟,友善柔,友便佞,损矣。
54. There are three kinds of friends that benefit and three kinds of friends that harm. Friends who are honest, who are forgiving, and who are well-informed are beneficial; friends who are cunning, who are compliant, and who are flatterers are harmful.
55. 不患寡而患不均,不患贫而患不安。
55. Do not worry about being few, but about not being equal; do not worry about being poor, but about not being at peace.
56. 己所不欲,勿施于人。
56. Do not do to others what you would not have them do to you.
57. 译文:军队可以被夺去主帅,男子汉却不可被夺去志气。
57. Translation: The army can have its leader taken away, but a man cannot have his spirit taken away.
58. 质胜文则野,文胜质则史,文质彬彬,然后君子。
58. If quality prevails over style, it becomes rustic; if style prevails over quality, it becomes superficial. Only when style and quality are harmoniously blended can one be considered a gentleman.
59. 译文:不必担心财富不多,只需担心财富不均;不必担心人民太少,只需担心不安定。
59. Translation: There is no need to worry about not having enough wealth, just worry about wealth inequality; there is no need to worry about a small population, just worry about instability.
60. 君子和而不同,小人同而不和。
60. A gentleman may have differences while still being harmonious, whereas a small man may be the same but not harmonious.
