55. Translation: Having undergone numerous trials and tribulations, it is only because of the national crisis that the time has come for loyal subjects to fulfill their duty; it is an obligation that cannot be shirked, and so I have thrown myself into the midst of a hail of bullets and arrows. Misfortune has befallen, and the mountains and rivers have been shattered like willow catkins swept away by the wind; circumstances are arduous, and one's personal fate and the destiny of the nation are like water droplets hitting a floating lotus leaf.
