3. 我心匪石不可转也。

3. My heart is not a stone that can be turned around.

4. 投我以木桃，报之以琼瑶。

4. If you give me a peach, I will repay you with jade.

5. 高山仰止，景行行止。

5. To gaze upon high mountains and to walk along picturesque landscapes.

6. 愿言恩伯，甘心首疾。

6. May my words be like an ancestor's kindness, and I am willing to bear any hardship.

7. 冬之夜，夏之日，百岁之后，归于其室。

7. In winter's night, in summer's day, after a hundred years, return to your chamber.

8. 毂则异室，死则同穴。

8. Living, they are in separate rooms; dead, they share the same grave.

9. 子不思我，岂无他人？

9. If my son does not think of me, does that mean there are no other people?

10. 所谓伊人，在水之湄。

10. The one I seek, by the river's brink.

11. 信誓旦旦，不思其反。反是不思，亦已焉哉。

11. Vows were made with solemn sincerity, yet no thought was given to the possibility of their reversal. When the reversal occurred, thought was given, but it was too late.

12. 挑兮达兮，在城阙兮。

12. So cheerful and lively, in the city gates.

13. 洵有情兮，而无望兮。

13. Full of feeling, yet without hope.

14. 相鼠有皮，人而无仪；人而无仪，不死行为。

14. If a mouse has fur, a human without dignity; if a human lacks dignity, he does not die, but behaves shamefully.

15. 灵雨既零，命彼倌人。星言夙驾，说于桑田。

15. When the divine rain has fallen, command the driver. With the stars as guidance, set out early in the morning, and make your way to the mulberry fields.

16. 招招舟子，人涉卬否。人涉卬否，卬须我友。

16. Every time I set sail, people pass by without me. When people pass by without me, I must have friends.

17. 女也不爽，士贰其行，士也罔极，二三其德。

17. The woman is not satisfied, the scholar's conduct is irregular, the scholar's virtues are boundless, and their virtues are fickle.

18. 五月斯蠡动股，六月莎鸡振羽。

18. In May, the Xisili moves its stock; in June, the Shaji stirs its feathers.

19. 高山仰止，景行行止。虽不能至，心向往之。

19. The towering mountains are awe-inspiring, and the beautiful scenery is ever-changing. Though I may not reach them, my heart yearns for them.

20. 女曰鸡鸣，士曰昧旦。子兴视夜，明星有烂。

20. The woman says it is the rooster crowing, the man says it is just before dawn. The Master rises to look at the night, and the stars are shining brightly.

21. 言笑晏晏，信誓旦旦。

21. Laughter and mirth are upon them, and their oaths are solemn and binding.

22. 彼其之子，美无度。

22. The son of him, his beauty has no bounds.

23. 死生契阔，与子成说。执子之手，与子偕老。

23. The distance between life and death is vast, and I have made a promise to you. Holding your hand, I will accompany you until old age.

24. 萧萧马鸣，悠悠旆旌。

24. The neighing horses, the waving banners, so leisurely and long-drawn-out.

25. 嘒彼小星，维参与昴。肃肃宵征，抱衾与裯。

25. Behold the twinkling of the little star, it is the constellation of Pegasus and Aquila. In the quiet of the night, the journey is undertaken, holding the quilt and the blanket.

26. 一日不见，如三秋兮！

26. Absent for a single day, it feels like three autumns!

27. 执子之手，与子偕老。

27. Hold your hand in mine, and grow old together.

28. 将仲子兮，无逾我里，无折我树杞；岂敢爱之，畏我父母。

28. Oh, Zhongzi, do not cross my neighborhood, do not break my杞 trees; How could I dare to cherish them, for I fear my parents.

29. 江有汜，之子归，不我以，不我以，其后也悔。

29. There is a river named Jiang, and this young woman is returning. She does not take me with her, and she does not take me with her; afterward, she regrets it.

30. 北风其凉，雨雪其雾。惠而好我，携手同行。

30. The north wind is cool, and the rain and snow are misty. Kind and fond of me, we hold hands and walk together.

31. 寤寐无为，涕泗滂沱。

31. Sleepless and doing nothing, tears and snot flowing freely.

32. 白圭之玷，尚可磨也，斯言之玷，不可为也。

32. The stain on the white jade can still be polished off, but the stain on this word cannot be removed.

33. 普天之下、莫非王土；率土之滨、莫非王臣。

33. Under heaven, there is none but the King's land; by the borders of the land, there is none but the King's ministers.

34. 父兮生我，母兮鞠我，抚我，畜我，长我，育我，顾我，复我。

34. My father gave me birth, my mother nurtured me, cared for me, raised me, educated me, looked after me, and returned me.

35. 桃之夭夭，灼灼其华。之子于归，宜其室家。

35. The peach tree is blooming, its blossoms radiant. This young maiden is returning home, fittingly so in her household.

36. 一之日觱发，二之日粟烈。

36. On the first day of the year, the wind begins to blow cold; on the second day, the chill intensifies.

37. 瞻彼淇奥，绿竹猗猗。有匪君子，如切如磋，如琢如磨。

37. Look to the Green Mulberry Grove, where the bamboo is lush and graceful. There is a most excellent gentleman, like a piece of jade that is cut and polished, like a gem that is carved and ground.

38. 嘤其鸣兮，求其友声。

38. Uttering its cry, seeking a friend's voice.

39. 桃之夭夭，灼灼其华。

39. The peach blossoms are bright and beautiful.

40. 出其东门，有女如云。虽则如云，匪我思存。

40. Passing through the eastern gate, there are girls as numerous as clouds. Though they are as numerous as clouds, they are not the ones I cherish in my thoughts.

41. 有匪君子，如切如磋，如琢如磨。

41. There is a gentleman, who is as polished as if cut and as smooth as if polished.

42. 我心匪石，不可转也。我心匪席，不可卷也。

42. My heart is not a stone, it cannot be turned. My heart is not a mat, it cannot be rolled up.

43. 生死契阔，与子成说。

43. Through thick and thin, we have made a promise with you.

44. 静女其姝，俟我于城隅；爱而不见，搔首踟蹰。

44. A tranquil maiden fair, awaits me at the city corner; loving but unseen, she scratches her head and hesitates.

45. 妻子好合，如鼓瑟琴。

45. A harmonious marriage is like playing the zither and the guqin together.

46. 如月之恒，如日之升。

46. As the moon is at its perpetual stage, so the sun rises at its zenith.

47. 琴瑟在御，岁月静好。

47. The zither and lute are played in Your presence, and the years pass quietly.

48. 彼狡童兮，不与我言兮，维子之故，使我不能餐兮。

48. Oh, that cunning boy, he does not speak to me. It is because of you that I cannot eat.

49. 手如柔荑，肤如凝脂，领如蝤蛴，齿如瓠犀，螓首蛾眉。

49. Hands like tender shoots, skin like congealed lard, neck like a grub, teeth like melon seeds, a face like a peony, eyebrows like a willow.
