4. Spend the rest of my life as a prisoner, and wish to be buried in the land of Ranyi in Xiangxi.

5. 举世不师，故道益离。

5. Since the world does not follow the teacher, the way becomes even more distant.

6. 君子在下位则多谤，在上位则多誉；小人在下位则多誉，在上位则多谤。

6. A gentleman, when in a low position, is often subject to defamation, while in a high position, he is often praised; a small person, when in a low position, is often praised, but when in a high position, he is often defamed.

7. 惩病克寿，矜壮暴死。

7. Punishing illness for longevity, showing mercy to the strong and allowing them to die suddenly.

8. 海畔尖山似剑铓，秋来处处割愁肠。若为化作身千亿，散向峰头望故乡。

8. The sharp mountain by the seaside looks like a sword blade, autumn comes and cuts the sorrow in every place. If I could become a thousand and a billion, I would scatter myself at the top of the peak to gaze upon my hometown.

9. 风波一跌逝万里，壮心瓦解空缧囚。

9. The storm subsides, and the distant waves recede; my ambitious heart crumbles, leaving only the emptiness of a牢笼 prisoner.

10. 择天下之士，使称其职；居天下之人，使其安业。

10. Select the best men from all over the world to fit their positions; settle the people of the world so that they may live in peace with their professions.

11. 从此忧来非一事，岂容华发待流年。

11. From this moment on, the source of my worries is not just one thing; how can I allow my hair to turn white while waiting for the passage of time?

12. 雪落残魂倍黯然，双垂别泪越江边。一身去国六千里，万死投荒十二年。桂岭瘴来云似墨，洞庭春近水如天。欲知此后相思梦，长在荆门郢树烟。

16. 春风无限潇湘意，欲采苹花不自由。

16. The spring breeze carries endless thoughts of Xiangxiang, yet I am unable to freely gather the duckweeds.

17. 善恶不可以同道。

17. Good and evil cannot travel on the same path.

18. 回看天际下中流，岩上无心云相逐。

18. Glancing back at the sky below the river's midpoint, the thoughtless clouds chase each other on the rocks.

19. 问春从此去，几日到秦原。凭寄还乡梦，殷勤入故园。

19. Asking Spring where it is heading, how many days till it reaches Qin Yuan? Relying on this to convey dreams of returning home, eagerly it enters the old garden.

20. 意有所极，梦亦同趣。

20. When one's thoughts reach their extreme, so do one's dreams share the same allure.

21. 桂令瘴来云似墨，洞庭春尽水如天。

21. Gui Ling's miasma arrives, clouds seem like ink; Dongting Lake's spring comes to an end, waters like the sky.

22. 二十年来万事同，今朝岐路忽西东。皇恩若许归田去，晚岁当为邻舍翁。

22. For twenty years, all things have been the same, but today, the path suddenly diverges to the west and east. If the imperial grace allows me to return to the countryside, in my later years, I shall be the old man next door.

23. 功有自功，祸者自祸。?>

23. The merit is self-acquired, and the misfortune is self-inflicted.

24. 宁为有闻而死，不为无闻而生。

24. It is better to die with reputation than to live without it.

25. 孤松停翠盖，托根临广路。不以险自防，遂为明所误。

25. The solitary pine stops under the green canopy, its roots planted by the broad road. It does not use danger to protect itself, and thus is misled by the brightness.

26. 聪明正直者为神。

26. The wise and upright are divine.

27. 烟销日出不见人，欸乃一声山水绿。

27. With the smoke of the sunrise, no one is seen; a sigh echoes, and the mountains and rivers turn green.

28. 到则披草而坐，倾壶而醉。

28. Upon arrival, they sit on the grass and drink from the jar until they are drunk.

29. 激浊而扬清，废贪而立廉。

29. Stir up the turbid and clarify the pure, eliminate greed and establish integrity.

30. 舟行若穷，忽又无际。

30. When sailing, if one feels as if the journey will never end, suddenly there seems to be no end in sight.

31. 少时陈力希公侯，许国不复为身谋。

31. In his youth, Chen Lixi aspired to be a marquis or a duke, promising to no longer seek personal gain for himself.

32. 苍然暮色，自远而至，至无所见，而犹不欲归。心凝形释，与万化冥合。

34. Climbing up and lounging around, then all the soil of several states lies beneath the cushions.

35. 虽曰爱之，其实害之。虽曰忧之，其实仇之。

35. Though they say they love it, in fact they are harming it. Though they say they worry about it, in fact they are treating it as an enemy.

36. 却学寿张樊敬侯，种漆南园待成器。

36. Yet learn from the example of Shou Zhang, Fan Jinghou, planting lacquer trees in the south garden, waiting for them to mature into useful objects.

37. 力足者取乎人，力不足者取乎神。

37. The strong rely on human effort, while the weak rely on divine intervention.

38. 凭寄还乡梦，殷勤入故园。

38. Carry the dream of returning to the hometown, diligently stepping into the old garden.

39. 南州溽暑醉如酒，隐几熟眠开北牖。

39. In the southern region, the oppressive summer heat is like wine, causing one to fall asleep comfortably while leaning on a low table, with the northern window wide open.
