In a world filled with complexity, the philosophy of life is like a lighthouse, guiding us to seek the true meaning of life in the mundane world. In this issue, we will focus on "Exploring the Ultimate Philosophy of Life: The Purity of Simplicity and the Pursuit of Solitude," and together, we will delve into the tranquil realm of the soul, experiencing the wisdom and power of a simple life.
1. Du Yufu represents a sense of loneliness in life, while seeking defeat implies a reluctance to compete for fame and wealth. It is about desiring to live a fulfilling life as an ordinary person in the mundane aspects of life.
2. If the carriage driven by indulgent desires rushes headlong, it will certainly be smashed to pieces, leading to eternal ruin. We must control our own desires. Although we cannot extinguish desires, we can cultivate a tranquil and modest mind, satisfy our basic physiological needs, and absolutely must not sink into the quagmire of hedonism.
3. Confucius's student asked him, "Why do you dislike talking?" Confucius replied, "Has heaven spoken? The sun, the moon, and the stars all move in harmony, and the four seasons change in an endless cycle. The earth and all living things grow in order. Does heaven need to speak?"
4. Life is short, only a few decades, and fame and fortune are all dust. Glory and wealth are like fleeting clouds and mist. There is no need to endure suffering for things outside oneself, and there is no need to live in a state of compromise to cater to others' eyes and opinions.
5. The sky has always been silent, yet it can play its role exceptionally well.
6. Humans are a bundle of desires. When desires are not satisfied, they lead to suffering; when they are satisfied, they result in emptiness, thereby breeding even greater desires.
Professor Dai Jianye said, "You are so ordinary that you can't be found in a crowd. Your ordinary nature extends to your emotions of joy and sorrow, as well as the cycles of life, old age, illness, and death, which no one cares about. But that's who you are, living in dependence on this world, doing whatever, going wherever, with a meager strength, unworthy of mention. That's what it means to see oneself."
8. How much we once wanted to dominate the world, standing at the top of the pyramid to overlook the world, only to find out later that not everyone can achieve success; the vast majority of people, even with all their efforts, can only maintain three meals a day, and with all-out efforts, can only ensure the basics of food and clothing and warmth. No one cares about our existence, no one is concerned about our lives, and destiny will not drop a cake on our heads. We can only adjust our mindset, accept the essence of life's solitude, accept ourselves for being unsuccessful, and live a life of everyday trivialities in the flowing years.
9. We should not seek to assert our presence through talking, nor should we indulge our desire to share and express. Close the door and live our own little life. We don't need others to acknowledge us, nor do we need others to look up to us.
10. Desires will expand horizontally and delve vertically, like the roots of a large tree, entangled and intricate, tightly gripping your life, leaving you unable to move and filled with distress and unease.
11. When you are hungry, you only want a full meal. Once you are full, you crave for a gourmet meal. With gourmet food, you start thinking about all sorts of delicious dishes. It can also spread out into various desires, such as sexual desire, material desires, and power desires.
12. The highest way of living is to be reserved and speak little, to have a pure heart and few desires, and to seek defeat alone.
13. We spend two years in talking, yet it takes a lifetime to learn to be silent.
14. The best way to maintain health is to cultivate the heart, and the best way to cultivate the heart is to have few desires.
15. We had so eagerly awaited others' recognition, only to later realize that the world is our own, having nothing to do with others.
