1. 按字调平仄分：对联比较讲究平仄，上联的最后一个字一般是仄声，下联的最后一个字一般是平声。

1. Divided by the tones and evenness: Couplets are very particular about the tones and evenness. Generally, the last character of the first line is a tone of evenness, and the last character of the second line is a tone of unevenness.

2. 上联：烟火起，照人间，万家灯火，举杯敬此年，下联：霞光飞，映山河，亿民康乐，把酒贺新岁。

2. Top联: The fireworks burst, illuminating the world, myriad lights, raise a cup to toast this year. Bottom联: The radiant glow, reflecting on the mountains and rivers, billion people are happy, hold a cup to celebrate the new year.

3. 按语言习惯分：比如“福如东海长流水，寿比南山不老松”。

3. Categorized according to linguistic habits: For example, "Prosperity is like the endless flowing water of the East Sea, and longevity is like the ever-youthful pine tree of the South Mountain."

4. 按左右方位分：贴对联时应将上联贴在右边，下联贴在左边，左与右则以面对大门或壁柱来分。

4. Divided by left and right directions: When pasting couplets, the upper couplet should be placed on the right, and the lower couplet on the left. The distinction between left and right is determined by facing the main entrance or the pillar.

5. 按时序先后分：时间在前的为上联，时间在后的则为下联。如“门迎春夏秋冬福，户纳东西南北祥”。
