4. 译文不要在农民耕种和收获的大忙季节征兵和征徭役，妨碍生产，那么生产的粮食便吃不尽了。不要用细密的鱼网到大池中捕鱼，那么鱼类便吃不完了。依照合适的时间到山林砍伐树木，木材也会用不尽。粮食和鱼类吃不完，木材用不尽，这样便会使百姓对生养死葬没有什么不满。

4. Do not conscript soldiers and levy labor during the busy seasons of farming and harvesting, as it would disrupt production, and then the food grains would be inexhaustible. Do not use fine fishing nets to fish in large ponds, so that the fish would not be exhausted. Cut trees from the mountains and forests at the appropriate times, and the timber would be endless as well. If the food grains and fish are not exhausted, and the timber is inexhaustible, then the people will have no complaints about their livelihood, giving birth, and burial.

5. 爆饮爆食易生病，定时定量保康宁。

5. Excessive drinking and eating are prone to illness; regular and moderate consumption ensures health and tranquility.

6. 打架不能劝一边，看人不能看一面。

6. You can't persuade someone who is fighting to stop fighting, and you can't judge a person based on just one side.

7. 桀纣之失天下也，失其民也；失其民者，失其心也。得天下有道：得其民，斯得天下矣；得其民有道：得其心，斯得民矣；得其心有道：所欲与之聚之，所恶勿施，尔也。

7. The loss of the kingdom by the tyrants Jie and Zhou was due to the loss of their people; the loss of their people was because they lost their hearts. There is a way to gain the kingdom: by gaining the people, one gains the kingdom; there is a way to gain the people: by gaining their hearts, one gains the people; there is a way to gain their hearts: to gather what they desire, and not to impose what they dislike, that is all.

8. 槽里无食猪拱猪，分脏不均狗咬狗。

8. In the trough, pigs root at the lack of food; when dividing the内脏, dogs bite each other over unequal distribution.

9. 不怕少年苦，只怕老来穷。

9. Don't fear the hardships in youth, only fear being poor in old age.

10. 译文天将要把重要的任务加到某人的身上，一定要先苦恼他的心意，劳动他的筋骨，饥饿他的肠胃，穷困他的身子，他的每一行为总是不如意，这样便可以震动他的心意，坚韧他的性情，增加他的能力。

10. Translation: When heaven is to bestow an important task upon someone, it must first trouble their heart, tire their muscles, starve their stomach, and impoverish their body. Their every action will always be unsuccessful, thus shaking their heart, strengthening their temperament, and enhancing their abilities.

11. 可以养妻子儿女，好年成能丰衣足食，遇上荒年也不致饿死。

11. It is possible to support one's wife and children, in good years, one can enjoy a comfortable life with ample clothing and food, and even in lean years, one will not starve to death.

12. 多下及时雨，少放马后炮。

12. Make timely rain rather than fire after the horse has been shot.

13. 有为者辟若掘井，掘井九轫而不及泉，犹为弃井也。

13. The one who is ambitious is like one who digs a well; if one has dug for nine years and does not reach the spring, it is still considered an abandoned well.

14. 鼓不敲不响，理不辩不明。

14. A drum doesn't sound unless struck, and a truth isn't clear unless argued.

15. 不怕家里穷，只怕出懒汉。

15. It's not that I fear our family is poor, but I fear that we might produce a lazy person.

16. 译文桀和纣的丧失天下，是由于失去了百姓的支持；他们的失去百姓的支持，是由于失去了民心。获得天下有方法：获得了百姓的支持，便获得天下了；获得百姓的支持有方法：获得了民心，便获得百姓的支持了；获得民心有方法：他们所希望的，替他们聚积起来；他们所厌恶的，不要加在他们头上，如此罢了。

16. The loss of the kingdom for Jie and Zhou was due to the loss of the people's support; their loss of the people's support was because they lost the people's hearts. There are methods to gain the kingdom: if you gain the support of the people, you gain the kingdom; to gain the support of the people, there are methods: if you win the hearts of the people, you gain their support; to win the hearts of the people, there are methods: gather what they desire for them; do not impose on them what they detest, and that is all.

17. 富贵不能*，贫贱不能移，威武不能屈，此之谓大丈夫。

17. Riches and honor cannot corrupt, poverty and lowliness cannot displace, power and might cannot bend, this is what is called a great man.

18. 从小差一岁，到老不同年。

18. Being a year younger from childhood until old age, the years of life will never match.

19. 不怕一万，只怕万一。

19. Better to be cautious than sorry.

20. 山高有攀头，路远有奔头。

20. There's a way to climb high mountains, and there's a goal to run towards in the distance.

21. 病从口入，寒从脚起。

21. Sickness enters through the mouth, and coldness originates from the feet.

22. 不担三分险，难练一身胆。

22. Without taking three risks, it is difficult to cultivate an unyielding spirit.

23. 鼓不打不响，钟不敲不鸣。

23. No drum sounds without being struck, no bell tolls without being rung.

24. 虽有天下易生之物，一日暴之，十日寒之，未有能生者也。

24. Even though there are easily grown things in the world, if you expose them to a single day of warmth and then ten days of cold, none of them will be able to grow.

25. 译文自己损害自己的人，不能和他谈出有价值的言语；自己抛弃自己（对自己极不负责任）的人，不能和他做出有价值的事业。

25. One who harms oneself cannot engage in valuable discourse; one who abandons oneself (and is extremely irresponsible towards oneself) cannot accomplish valuable endeavors.

26. 得道者多助，失道者寡助。寡助之至，亲戚畔之，多助之至，天下顺之。

26. He who follows the right path has many helpers, while he who strays from it has few. When help is at its lowest, even relatives desert him; when help is at its highest, the whole world follows him.

27. 译文君主仁，没有人不仁；君主义，没有人不义；君主正，没有人不正。

27. Translation: If the ruler is benevolent, no one is unkind; if the ruler is righteous, no one is unrighteous; if the ruler is upright, no one is crooked.

28. 砂锅不捣不漏，木头不凿不通。

28. A pot will not leak if it is not pounded, and wood will not be smooth if it is not carved.

29. 君之视臣如手足，则臣视君如腹心；君之视臣如犬马，则臣视君如国人；君之视臣如土芥，则臣视君如寇仇。

29. If a ruler treats his ministers as his own hands and feet, then his ministers will regard him as their bosom; if a ruler treats his ministers as dogs and horses, then his ministers will regard him as a common citizen; if a ruler treats his ministers as the earth and the weeds, then his ministers will regard him as an enemy.

30. 打铁看火候，庄稼赶时候。

30. "As the saying goes, 'To hammer iron, one must watch the fire; to cultivate crops, one must seize the right time.'"

31. 上山弯弯腰，回家有柴烧。

31. Bend over when climbing the mountain, and you'll have firewood to burn when you return home.

32. 看准北斗星，就不会迷失方向。

32. Keep an eye on the North Star, and you will never lose your way.

33. 君子有三乐，而王天下不与存焉。父母俱在，兄弟无故，一乐也；仰不愧于天，俯不怍于人，二乐也；得天下英才而教育之，三乐也。

33. A gentleman has three joys, and being the ruler of the world is not one of them. Both parents are alive, and there are no problems among the brothers, which is one joy; looking up, he does not feel ashamed before heaven, and looking down, he does not feel embarrassed among people, which is the second joy; to have the talents of the world and to educate them, which is the third joy.

34. 秤砣虽小，能压千斤。

34. The weight may be small, but it can bear a thousand catties.

35. 译文百姓最为重要，代表国家的土谷之神为次，君主为轻。

35. The translation is: The people are the most important, followed by the earth and grain gods representing the state, and the ruler is of lesser importance.
