14. Many ethnic groups' shooting-the-sun myths view the moon as the transformation of the sun after it is shot; for example, the story of the Tayal people tells that in the past, there were two suns in the sky, and there was no distinction between day and night, leading to a very difficult life for humans. Therefore, three young men took infants on their backs and embarked on a distant journey to shoot the sun. Only when the infants they carried had all grown up did they reach the shooting-the-sun location; one of them shot an arrow, hitting the sun, causing it to bleed and lose its light and heat, thus becoming the moon, with the shadow being the mark of the arrow wound. The legend of the Cou people is similar yet goes further by saying that the red stones seen on the ground are the blood that flowed from the sun. Some ethnic groups' stories have some variations, with the content being that there was only the moon in the past, which did not appear every day. Additionally, there was a shadow on the moon, making the earth dark at night, preventing plants from growing and causing great inconvenience to people. Therefore, two young warriors were sent to shoot the moon. After several decades, one of them shot an arrow and hit the moon, removing the shadow, and thus the earth had normal light and brightness.

23. The phenomenon of the moon appearing to have long hair or fur is generally referred to as the moon's glimmer under clear, cloudless skies. It is neither an halo nor a glory; rather, it occurs when there is a relatively high amount of water vapor in the air at the time. When moonlight passes through this water vapor, it is scattered by water droplets or particles in the air. At this time, the water vapor or hygroscopic particles in the air tend to have a larger radius and possess the ability to scatter various wavelengths of light equally, which is why we perceive the moon's light as having a glimmer.

24. On the Mid-Autumn Festival of the Wuxu year, climbing the Tiger Hill to see the moon, I was reminded of the Qinhuai River. As the moon reached its fullness, the moonlight was as bright as day. I encountered beauties with the surnames Jin and Wang, and among a thousand people, I saw them and the moon did not seem extraordinary. At that time, those who were good at music had all gathered in Jinling, and at midnight, the melodies reached the ears in a lingering way. By the day of the Jiumu year, I had already seen the full moon in Jinling for seven times. I was to leave, and the people of the Qinhuai River said, "Why didn't you think of it before, but think of leaving, and now you will think again." So, I sighed and stopped. Since the first quarter moon, it was still like Wu's roar, but it was as if it was lost in just two nights. Some people are more successful than Wu, not because they are more successful, but because their emotions are stronger. All along the banks of Qingxi River, the Wu dialect was passed around, but in the pavilion, it was the sincere emotions that won, with the pearls of the yuan girls presented to the flutes of the cai girls, and with their solitary melodies, all were like the sound of green clouds. As for drama, it was even more extraordinary, like the pipa and the brilliant pearls. I regretted that I heard it late and enjoyed it shallowly, and should have abandoned my thoughts about Wu, but why did I still go there? When it comes to Wu tourism, a single stone can change from level to flat, a spoon of the sword pool can shine like the sea. I threw my pen into the air, and soon the clouds cleared and the moon emerged, as if I was suddenly in the middle of the Tiger Hill, and I sang a song: "My thoughts are hidden by the clouds, born in the moon and perished in the wind. Suddenly, it feels like a dream and like waking up, I think of the ocean again. The dragon street is bright and the phoenix spreads its colors, suddenly we are on a trip and playing, wishing for a thousand years without change."
