31. 每一个学生都有一个工作台，一个收藏工具的抽屉。导师首先就是教我们认识这些工具，例如300mm的锉刀，一把手锯，一把锤子，一个游标卡尺等等。导师强调了工具对于钳工的重要性不亚于眼睛对于近视眼的重要性。然后讲解这次的任务。这次我们的任务比较重，首先，我们要量出22—24毫米的距离，然后在直径超过30毫米的铁圆柱把这个大小锯下来，必须强调，是锯下来！瞬间就觉得是满满的压力。没办法，虽然不愿，但我也知道这个时候该做什么，收起情绪，拿起手锯去干活。第一次用手锯去锯铁，十分钟之内，我弄断了一条锯条，接着不到一个小时我又弄断了一条，出现了问题就去问老师傅，老师傅教我锯铁的时候一定要用力均匀，要拉满锯，保持一分钟40下的速度，如此下来，便渐渐掌握了节奏，到了下午3点左右终于把这个小圆柱锯了下来。然后就是锉铁，要把圆柱的两个面锉平，锉滑，我们大多出现一个问题，就是中间高，四周低的现象，于是老师傅教我们交叉锉法，沉住气，手要保持平稳，慢锉，锉出交叉点，再去锉平，锉光亮。接着测量平面的平行度，做完这个工序已经是第二天的下午了。然后把这个圆柱锯成一个对边成30—31毫米的正六边体，这个当然肥了不少周折，毕竟有了前天的一些经验，锯出了六边体，然后去锉，一成不变的锉锉锉，锉刀在手指尖上飞舞，铁屑在台虎钳上弥漫。做完了这个工序，接着是钻孔，倒角，扩孔的工序了（题外话必须一提，老师傅中有一个特严厉的，因为我们之前总是把锉念成磨，他就唠叨我们只有小学生的水平，没有大学生的范，实属不该有的低级错误啊）钻孔机分为台式，立式、摇式和最厉害的液压式。反正怎么厉害怎么来，而我们主要用台式的来钻孔，摇式的倒角，立式的扩孔，液压的拿来看看。最后一步工序就是套丝和攻丝了，攻丝的用具分为头锥和二锥，先头锥用力向下压转三圈，转的过程中注意头锥斜正与否，过了三圈就不必压着，可退半圈进一圈而动，到了尽头换二锥直接转到低即可，套丝也如是此般。到了第四天上午10点前便要交了作业。

The mentor emphasized that tools are as important to a mechanic as eyes are to a myopic person. Then, the mentor explained the task for this time. This time, our task was quite heavy. First, we had to measure a distance of 22-24 millimeters, then saw off this size from an iron cylinder with a diameter over 30 millimeters. It must be emphasized that it is to be sawn off! Instantly, I felt a lot of pressure. Unable to avoid it, although I didn't want to, I also knew what I should do at this moment: put away my emotions, pick up the handsaw, and get to work. The first time I used a handsaw to cut iron, within ten minutes, I broke a saw blade, and then in less than an hour, I broke another one. When problems arose, I went to ask the senior master. The senior master taught me that when sawing iron, you must apply even force, pull the saw fully, and maintain a speed of 40 strokes per minute. In this way, I gradually mastered the rhythm, and by around 3 p.m. in the afternoon, I finally sawed off the small cylinder. Then it was time to file the iron, to flatten and smooth the two sides of the cylinder. Most of us had a problem, which was that the middle was high and the edges were low. So the senior master taught us the cross-filing method, to stay calm, keep your hand steady, file slowly, and file out the intersection points before filing it flat and making it shiny. Next, we measured the parallelism of the plane, and by the afternoon of the next day, we had completed this process. Then we sawed the cylinder into a regular hexahedron with sides of 30-31 millimeters. Of course, it took quite a few twists and turns, but with some experience from the day before, we managed to saw the hexahedron and then file it. It was the same repetitive filing, the file danced on the tip of my fingers, and iron shavings filled the vise. After completing this process, the next steps were drilling, chamfering, and reaming. (By the way, I must mention that one of the senior masters was particularly strict because we had always pronounced "file" as "grind" before, and he kept on at us that we only had the level of elementary school students, not college students, which was indeed an unnecessary low-level mistake) The drilling machine is divided into table-type, vertical, swing-type, and the most powerful hydraulic-type. No matter how powerful, we mainly used the table-type for drilling, the swing-type for chamfering, the vertical-type for reaming, and just took a look at the hydraulic-type. The final step was threading and tapping. The tools for tapping are divided into a primary tap and a second tap. First, use the primary tap to press down and turn it three times. Pay attention to whether the tap is at an angle during the turning process. After three turns, you don't need to press it anymore; you can pull back half a turn and advance one turn while moving. When you reach the end, change to the second tap and turn it directly to the low position. Threading is done in the same way. By 10 a.m. on the fourth day, we had to hand in our assignments.
