The old man stroked his beard and laughed, saying, "If you let me stay at home for one night, I will definitely drive away the 'Year' beast." The old woman looked at him closely, seeing that he had white hair and a youthful complexion, vigorous and extraordinary. However, she still continued to persuade him, and the beggar old man just laughed without speaking. Unable to bear it any longer, the old woman had to leave her home and go up the mountain to seek refuge.

24. 这样一来，人间真的太平无事了。玉皇大帝拨开云头，俯视人间，一片欢乐景象，心里自然高兴。这样又过了几天，到了初五，天刚蒙蒙亮，忽然传来一阵吵吵声。原来是姜太公的老婆(人们称她为脏神，专管茅房，粪土)，正在跟大肚子弥勒佛吵架呢。

It's the fifth day of the New Year today; let the people set off a few more firecrackers for you, make some dumplings, and spend a bit of money!" — This is the origin of the "Break the Fifth" custom.

Unexpectedly, this was overheard by the wealthy man. After the young laborer left, the wealthy man also knelt in front of the stove god to pray, saying, "Oh Stove God, Stove God, show your miraculous power, let it be dark when it's cloudy, let it be bright when it's dark; let him get sick during his leisure time, and not disrupt his work during busy times."
