1. 法无善恶,善恶是法;境无损益,损益在人。
1. There is no intrinsic good or evil in the law; good and evil are defined by the law. There is no intrinsic harm or benefit in a situation; harm or benefit is determined by people.
2. 夸奖我们,赞叹我们的,这都不是名师。会讲我们,指示我们的,这才是善知识,有了他们我们才会进步。
2. Praise us and admire us, those are not master teachers. Those who can critique us and guide us are the good friends of knowledge, and with them, we will make progress.
3. 能说不能行,不是真智慧。
3. Words without action are not true wisdom.
4. 平凡之人追求不平凡,智者则甘於平凡,却享受平凡。
4. Ordinary people strive for the extraordinary, while the wise are content with the ordinary and enjoy it.
5. 所作福德,不应贪着。
5. The meritorious virtues one has accomplished should not be clung to.
6. 今生种种皆是前生因果。
6. All things in this life are the results of causes and effects from previous lives.
7. 一切有为法,尽是因缘合和,缘起时起,缘尽还无,不外如是。
7. All things that are subject to causation are formed by the interdependence of causes and conditions. They arise when conditions are ripe and cease when conditions are exhausted. It is none other than this.
8. 心地是命运的一片风光田园,妙处自古难与人说。心地起烽火,还向心头消,万物皆是客,终归寂静处。对错成灰,无人无我,苍茫大地,一片好山河。
8. The heart is a picturesque countryside of destiny, its wonders have been hard to describe since ancient times. When the heart ignites with flames, they are extinguished within the heart itself. All things are transient guests, ultimately returning to a state of tranquility. Right and wrong fade into dust, there is no 'me' or 'others', in the vast expanse of the earth, there lies a beautiful land of mountains and rivers.
9. 我昔所造诸恶业,皆由无始贪瞋痴,从身语意之所生,一切我今皆忏悔。
9. All the evil deeds I have committed in the past, all arise from the endless greed, anger, and ignorance. From the body, speech, and mind, I now confess and repent of all these.
10. 知昼则知夜,知始则知终,如若先悟未生以前面目,便知末后安身立命之处。
10. Knowing the day is knowing the night, knowing the beginning is knowing the end. If one can realize the face before the birth, then one will know where to find a place to settle and establish oneself in the end.
11. 与其你去排斥它已成的事实,你不如去接受它。
11. Instead of rejecting the fact that has already occurred, why not accept it?
12. 来是偶然的,走是必然的。所以你必须,随缘不变,不变随缘。
12. Arrival is accidental, departure is inevitable. Therefore, you must remain unchanged with the changing circumstances, and change with the unchanging circumstances.
13. 明明白白无生死,去去来来不断常;是是非非如昨梦,真真实实快承当。
13. Clarity without the notion of life and death, constant in coming and going; Right and wrong as in yesterday's dream, true and real, happy to bear.
14. 苦海无边,回头是岸。苦海无边,回头是岸。
14. The sea of suffering is boundless; turning back is the shore. The sea of suffering is boundless; turning back is the shore.
15. 若人知心行,普造诸世间。是人则见佛,了佛真实性。
15. If a person knows the mind's actions, he will create all the worlds universally. Such a person will see the Buddha and understand the true nature of the Buddha.
16. 坐亦禅,行亦禅,一花一世界,一叶一如来,春来花自青,秋至叶飘零,无穷般若心自在,语默动静体自然。
16. Sit in Zen, walk in Zen, a flower is a world, a leaf is a Buddha, flowers turn green with the spring, leaves fall with the autumn, the boundless wisdom heart is at ease, and words, silence, movements, and stillness embody nature.
17. 如来不应以具足诸相见。
17. The Buddha should not be seen as possessing all forms.
18. 得生与否,全由信愿之有无;品位高下,全由持名之深浅。
18. Whether one is reborn or not depends entirely on the presence or absence of faith and determination; the level of status is determined solely by the depth of reciting the name.
19. 面对现实,逆境也会变为顺境,总有机会转机。逃避现实,虽暂时偷安,但没有翻身余地。
19. Facing reality, adversity can also turn into prosperity, and there is always an opportunity for a turn of events. Shying away from reality may bring temporary relief, but there is no room for a comeback.
20. 住相布施生天福,犹如仰箭射虚空。势力尽,箭还坠,招得来生不如意。
20. Offering alms with attachment to the form leads to heavenly blessings, just like an arrow shot upwards into the void. When the power is exhausted, the arrow falls back, and it brings about dissatisfaction in the next life.
21. 大可笑,大可笑!好汉多迷屎尿窍!
21. Hilarious, absolutely hilarious! Heroes often fall into the trap of excrement and urine!
22. 不要刻意去猜测他人的想法,如果你没有智慧与经验的正确判断,通常都会有错误的。
22. Do not刻意 guess others' thoughts, as if you do not have the right judgment of wisdom and experience, they are usually wrong.
23. 与其你去排斥它已成的事实,你不如去接受它,这个叫做认命。
23. Instead of resisting the fact that has already come to be, you might as well accept it. This is called resignation.
24. 处事难,处人更难;处事待人都要做得圆满如法,这些就是修行。
24. It is difficult to handle matters, let alone deal with people; to handle both matters and people perfectly and lawfully is what is called cultivation.
25. 诸法因缘生,诸法因缘灭。因缘生灭法,佛说皆是空。
25. All phenomena arise due to causes and conditions, and all phenomena cease due to causes and conditions. The arising and ceasing of phenomena, the Buddha says, are all emptiness.
26. 多少人要离开这个世间时,都会说出同一句话,这世界真是无奈与凄凉啊!
26. How many people, when leaving this world, will utter the same words: This world is truly无奈 and desolate!
27. 若人造重罪,作已深自责;忏悔更不造,能拔根本业。
27. If one commits a grave sin, they deeply repent; by confessing and not repeating it, they can uproot the fundamental offense.
28. 大贫亦是大富,一无所有、了无牵挂,宁静谈泊、恬然自得。
28. Great poverty is also great wealth; having nothing and being carefree, living in tranquility and contentment.
29. 生值佛世难。忍色忍欲难。见好不求难。被辱不镇难。
29. It is difficult to live in the world of the Buddha. It is difficult to endure the longing for sensuality and desire. It is difficult not to seek the good. It is difficult not to be overwhelmed by insults.
30. 毁灭人只要一句话,培植一个人却要千句话,请你多口下留情。
30. It takes only one word to destroy a person, but it takes a thousand words to cultivate one. Please be more considerate with your words.
31. 若欲放下即放下,欲待了期无了期。此身不向今生度,更向何生度此身。
31. If you wish to let go, let go now; if you wait for a deadline, there is no end in sight. If this body is not to be redeemed in this life, then when will it be redeemed?
32. 众生以十事为善。亦以十事为恶。何等为十。身三。口四。意三。身三者。杀。盗。淫。
32. All sentient beings do good in ten ways and do evil in ten ways. What are the ten? The three concerning the body, the four concerning the mouth, and the three concerning the mind. The three concerning the body are: killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct.
33. 佛在心中莫浪求,灵山只在汝心头。人人有个灵山塔,只向灵山塔下修。
33. Do not vainly seek the Buddha in your heart, for the spiritual mountain is right in your own heart. Everyone has a spiritual mountain pagoda, and only by practicing under the spiritual mountain pagoda.
34. 在你贫穷的时候,那你就用身体去布施,譬如说扫地、洒水、搬东西等,这也是一种布施。
34. When you are poor, you can make offerings with your body, such as sweeping, watering, moving things, etc., which is also a form of offering.
35. 内心充满忌妒,心中不坦白,言语不正的人,不能算是一位五官端正的人。
35. A person who is filled with jealousy, has an untruthful heart, and speaks with unrighteousness cannot be considered as someone with a well-proportioned five senses.
36. 在学识上要力求博大精深,在修养上要力求忍耐包容。
36. Strive for profound knowledge and expertise, and cultivate patience and tolerance in character.
37. 尔勿崇饮,狂药非佳味,能使谨厚性,化作凶顽童。
37. Do not indulge in excessive drinking, for strong medicine is not a good taste. It can turn a cautious and thoughtful person into a rebellious child.
38. 当你的错误显露时,可不要发脾气,别以为任性或吵闹,可以隐藏或克服你的缺点。
38. When your mistakes are exposed, do not lose your temper. Do not think that being stubborn or noisy can hide or overcome your shortcomings.
39. 净心守志。可会至道。譬如磨镜。垢去明存。断欲无求。当得宿命。
39. Purify the mind and remain steadfast in your resolve. You may then attain the ultimate path. It is like polishing a mirror: when the dirt is removed, the brightness remains. By severing desires and having no demands, you shall obtain your past life's destiny.
40. 世间的人要法律负责任。修行的人要对因果负责任。
40. People in the world demand accountability from the law. Practitioners of cultivation should be accountable for cause and effect.
41. 夫为道者,如被干草,火来须避。道人见欲,必当远之。
41. Those who pursue the way of Tao should act like dried grass when fire comes; they must avoid it. Taoists must always keep their desires at a distance.
42. 临终之际,若一毫凡圣情量未尽,纤毫思虑未忘便乃轻重五阴去也。
42. At the moment of death, if even the slightest bit of the emotional measure of the ordinary and the sacred remains unfulfilled, or if the tiniest thought remains unforotten, then the five阴 (yīn) will depart in varying degrees.
43. 诸法集起,毕竟无主、无我我所。虽各随业,所现不同,而实于中,无有作者。故一切法皆不思议,自性如幻。
43. All phenomena arise in aggregates, ultimately without a master, without self and others. Although each follows its own karma and manifests differently, in reality, there is no one who creates within them. Therefore, all phenomena are inconceivable, their nature being like a mirage.
44. 好好的管教你自己,不要管别人。
44. Discipline yourself well, but do not meddle in others' affairs.
45. 一切皆为虚幻。
45. All is illusion.
46. 同样的瓶子,你为什么要装毒药呢?同样的心理,你为什么要充满着烦恼呢?
46. Why would you put poison in the same bottle? Why would you fill your mind with烦恼 (troubles or worries) if it's the same mindset?
47. 余供无过者超踰不可计如是菩提心必成等正觉。
47. If there is no fault in the offerings and they are beyond counting, such a bodhicitta will surely attain the equal and proper enlightenment.
48. 不可以身相得见如来。
48. It is not possible to see the Buddha with one's own body.
49. 遇到困难时不害怕,心中无事,是名真修。
49. Not being afraid when facing difficulties, and having a peaceful mind, is what is called true cultivation.
50. 她在佛前苦苦哀求了五千多年,只为今生能在最美的时光里遇见他,怎奈何沧海已填,神女不复,终究敌不过天命使然的宿命纠葛,继续那前世待续的虐缘。
50. She has苦苦哀求在佛前超过五千年, just to meet him in the most beautiful moments of this life. Alas, the sea has been filled, the goddess no longer exists, and she can ultimately not resist the inevitable fate of their intertwined destinies, continuing the cruel love story that awaits them in a past life.
51. 不妄求是知足的生命,不投机是本份的性格,不计谋是诚实的做人,不自私是净化的身心。
51. Not seeking after what is not one's own is the life of contentment, not speculating is the character of duty, not scheming is the way of being honest, and not being selfish is the purification of the body and mind.
52. 用感情换取他人的信仰,无法长久;用道德建立他人的尊敬,历久弥深。
52. Gaining others' faith through emotions cannot last long; building others' respect with morality can last through time.
53. 云何应住?云何降伏其心?
53. How should one dwell? How should one subdue the mind?
54. 白白的过一天,无所事事,就像犯了窃盗罪一样。
54. To waste a day without doing anything is like committing a theft.
55. 人好刚我以柔胜之,人好术我以诚感之。
55. When others are fond of rigidity, I use flexibility to overcome them; when others are fond of tactics, I use sincerity to move them.
56. 心志要苦,意趣要乐,气度要宏,言动要谨。
56. The spirit must be enduring, the interest must be joyful, the demeanor must be magnanimous, and actions must be careful.
57. 见色起淫心,报之在妻女。
57. To be aroused by seeing someone's beauty and act on it, the consequence will befall upon one's wife and daughter.
58. 命由己造,相由心生,世间万物皆是化相,心不动,万物皆不动,心不变,万物皆不变。
58. One's destiny is shaped by oneself, one's appearance is a reflection of one's heart. All things in the world are manifestations of transformation. When the mind remains unchanged, all things remain unchanged. When the mind remains unaltered, all things remain unaltered.
59. 不要浪费你的生命,在你知道一定会后悔的地方。
59. Do not waste your life in places where you know you will regret it.
60. 好好的管教你自己,不要去管别人。
60. Take good care of your own conduct, and don't interfere with others.
61. 一切处无心者,即修菩提、解脱、涅盘、寂灭、禅定乃至六度,皆见性处。
61. Those who have no mind everywhere, even in cultivating bodhicitta, liberation, nirvana, extinction, meditation, and up to the six perfections, all see the nature.
62. 若以色见我,以音声求我,是人行邪道,不能见如来。
62. If one seeks me through the eyes of form, or seeks me through sound, such a person is walking on a path of evil, and cannot see the Tathagata.
63. 彻底的认识你自己,你就会认识佛。
63. Know yourself thoroughly, and you will know the Buddha.
64. 填得饱你的肚子,却填不满人心贪念。
64. It may fill your belly, but it cannot satisfy the greed in people's hearts.
65. 起见生心,分别执著便有情尘烦恼、扰攘、若以利根勇猛身心直下,修到一念不生之处,即是本来面目。
65. When the mind arises from ignorance, with attachments to various things, there is the dust of desires, disturbances, and chaos. But if one has a strong, resolute mind and body, and directly cultivates to the point where even a single thought does not arise, that is where the true nature is found.
66. 前世五百次的回眸才换得今世的擦肩而过。?>
66. It took five hundred lifetimes of glances in a past life to be reborn as a fleeting encounter in this one.
67. 内心充满忌妒,心中不坦白,言语不正的人,不能算一个五官端正的人。人生的真理只藏在平淡无味之中。
67. A person who is full of jealousy, has an untruthful heart, and speaks untruthfully cannot be considered a person with a well-proportioned face. The truth of life is only hidden in the bland and tasteless.
68. 无明实性即佛性,幻化空身即法身。
68. The true nature of ignorance is the Buddha-nature, and the illusionary, empty body is the physical body of the Dharma.
69. 失败者,往往是热度只有五分钟的人;成功者,往往是坚持最后五分钟的人。
69. Losers are often those with only a five-minute fame; winners are often those who endure the last five minutes.
70. 不要在你的智慧中夹杂着傲慢。不要使你的谦虚心缺乏智慧。
70. Do not let pride mingle with your wisdom. Do not let your humility lack wisdom.
71. 弘扬佛法真实的功德利益,是帮助眾生觉悟,降伏烦恼。如果帮助眾生增长贪瞋痴的,绝对不是善知识。
71. To promote the true merits and benefits of the Dharma is to help sentient beings achieve enlightenment and subdue烦恼 (disturbances). If one helps sentient beings to increase greed, anger, and ignorance, then such a person is definitely not a good friend (or a wise teacher).
72. 祸福无门,惟人自召;善恶之报,如影随形。
72. Misfortune and blessings have no gate; they are only summoned by oneself. The rewards of good and evil follow one like a shadow.
73. 事能知足心常惬,人到无求品自高。
73. When one is content with what one has, the heart is always at ease; when a person has no desires, their character naturally becomes noble.
74. 不要因为小小的争执,远离了你至亲的好友,也不要因为小小的怨恨,忘记了别人的大恩。
74. Do not distance yourself from your closest friends due to minor disputes, nor forget others' great kindness because of small grievances.
75. 觉悟世间无常。国土危脆。四大苦空。五阴无我。生灭变异。虚伪无主。心是恶源。形为罪薮。如是观察。渐离生死。
75. Realize the impermanence of the world. The fragility of the land. The four great elements are suffering and emptiness. The five aggregates have no self. Birth and death are subject to change. The false is without a master. The mind is the source of evil. The body is a den of sin. Observing thus, one gradually leaves the cycle of birth and death.
76. 烦恼三千,看开即是云烟;纠结无数,看淡即是晴天。人生怎么活,自己找心宽。
76. With three thousand troubles, let them be as mist if you see them lightly; with countless entanglements, let them be as clear skies if you take them lightly. How to live in life, find peace within yourself.
77. 不能把握现在,就无法获得永恒。
77. If one cannot grasp the present, one cannot attain eternity.
78. 四大原无我,五蕴本来空。将头临白刃,犹似斩春风。
78. The Four Great Elements have no self, the Five Aggregates are originally empty. Placing one's head before a white blade, it is as if cutting through the spring breeze.
79. 如果你能像看别人缺点一样,如此准确般的发现自己的缺点,那么你的生命将会不平凡。
79. If you can discover your own flaws with the same precision as you see others' flaws, then your life will be extraordinary.
80. 前世,你是我亲手种下的一株碗莲,别的莲都开了,只有你,直到枯萎,也没能把你清丽的容颜展现在我眼前。
80. In a past life, you were a lotus seedling I planted with my own hands. While all the other lotuses bloomed, only you, until you withered away, never revealed your fair and beautiful face to me.
81. 佛陀从不勉强别人去做他不喜欢的事情,佛陀只是告诉众生,何者是善?何者是恶?善恶还是要自己去选择,生命还是要自己去掌握。
81. The Buddha never coerces others into doing things they do not like. The Buddha merely informs all sentient beings about what is good and what is evil. The choice between good and evil still lies with individuals, and it is up to each person to master their own life.
82. 是非天天有,不听自然无,是非天天有,不听还是有,是非天天有,看你怎么办?真正的布施,就是把你的烦恼、忧虑、分别和执着心通通放下。
82. Right and wrong happen every day; if you don't listen, they won't affect you. Right and wrong happen every day; even if you don't listen, they're still there. Right and wrong happen every day; how will you handle them? True charity is to let go of all your worries, concerns, discrimination, and attachment.
