8. 释义：初四日 行十五里，到汤口。又走五里，到达汤寺，在汤池沐浴。手拄拐杖，遥望着朱砂庵攀登。十里，登上黄泥冈。刚才云雾笼罩的群峰渐渐地显露出来，也渐渐地落在我的拐杖下。转进石门，从天都峰侧面穿越而下，于是天都、莲花两座峰顶，都秀丽地突出在天空中。路边有一条岔路往东上，是我从前没走过的，于是往前顺岔路直上，几乎上到天都峰侧面。又往北上，在石缝中穿行。一片片石峰夹着路耸起，路在石峰之间弯来转去，阻塞的地方被凿开，陡峭的地方修出阶梯，断裂的地方搭木通过，悬空处安置梯子连接。往下俯瞰，壑谷峻峭、阴森，枫树和松树相互夹杂，五彩缤纷，像图画、锦绣一样灿烂；于是想到游黄山应是有生以来的奇览，却还有如此的奇异景致前次没有探寻过，这一次重游真是既痛快又惭愧啊！

8. Interpretation: On the fourth day, after walking fifteen miles, I arrived at Tangkou. Another five miles brought me to Tang Temple, where I bathed in the hot spring pool. Holding my cane, I looked up at the climb to the Cinnabar Monastery. Ten miles later, I reached the top of Huangni冈. The peaks, which were shrouded in clouds and mist just now, gradually revealed themselves and began to fall beneath my cane. Turning into the Stone Gate, I descended from the side of Tian Du Peak. Thus, the summits of Tian Du and Lianhua Peaks stood out beautifully in the sky. There was a detour to the east along the road, which was a path I had never taken before. So, I followed the detour straight up, almost reaching the side of Tian Du Peak. Then, I continued northward, walking through the crevices in the rocks. The road was blocked by a series of stone peaks, winding between them. The blocked places were carved open, steep sections were made into steps, broken places were bridged with wood, and gaps were connected with ladders. Looking down, the ravines were steep and eerie, with maple and pine trees mixed together, creating a vibrant and colorful scene like a painting or embroidery. This made me think that traveling to the Yellow Mountains must be a wondrous sight throughout one's life. Yet, there were still such extraordinary landscapes that I had not explored before. Revisiting them this time was both exhilarating and embarrassing!

9. 不到天都峰，白来一场空。

9. If you don't reach the summit of Tian Du Peak, you come for nothing.

10. 峰前有路不可问、一直通到神仙洞。

17. Translation: On the third day of the ninth month of the year Wu Wu, after leaving the Langmei Temple on Baiyue Mountain, we arrived at Taoyuan Bridge. Following the right side of the small bridge, we descended a steep slope, which was the original path to Huangshan. The journey covered seventy miles, and we stayed in Jiangcun.

25. 初四日 十五里，至汤口。五里，至汤寺，浴于汤池。扶杖望朱砂庵而登。十里，上黄泥冈。向时云里诸峰，渐渐透出，亦渐渐落吾杖底。转入石门①，越天都之胁而下，则天都、莲花二顶，俱秀出天半。路旁一岐东上，乃昔所未至者，遂前趋直上，几达天都侧。复北上，行石罅中。石峰片片夹起；路宛转石间，塞者凿之，陡者级之，断者架木通之，悬者植梯接之。下瞰峭壑阴森，枫松相间，五色纷披，灿若图绣。因念黄山当生平奇览，而有奇若此，前未一探，兹游快且愧矣！

25. The fourth day: 15 miles, arrived at Tangkou. 5 miles, arrived at Tang Temple, bathed in the hot spring pool. Supporting my staff, I looked towards Zhusha An and ascended. 10 miles, reached Huangni冈. The peaks that were previously shrouded in clouds gradually emerged, and also gradually fell beneath my staff. Turning into the Stone Gate①, crossing over the side of Tianju, the two summits of Tianju and Lianhua became prominent halfway up the sky. A path on the side led eastward, a place I had never visited before. So I went straight ahead and ascended, nearly reaching the side of Tianju. Then turning northward, I walked through the crevices in the rocks. The stone peaks rose one after another; the path twisted and turned between the stones. Obstructed places were carved through, steep places were made into steps, broken places were bridged with wood, and hanging places were connected with ladders. Looking down, I saw the precipitous ravines were shadowy and eerie, with maple and pine trees alternating, with colorful leaves scattered about, shining like pictures embroidered with silk. I thought of the extraordinary scenery of Huangshan and how extraordinary it was, yet I had not explored it before. This journey was both exhilarating and filled with regret!

26. 不到松谷庵，回家心不安。

27. 徐霞客采集到谚语“不到文殊院，不见黄山面”“峰顶皆巨石鼎峙，中空如室。从其中迭级直上，级穷洞转，屈曲奇诡，如下上楼阁中。”“其巅廓然，四望空碧，即天都亦俯首称臣矣！”“朝阳霁色，鲜映层发，令人狂叫欲舞。”

37. 叠嶂峰上明月羞、翠光浮动万山秋。

37. On the towering peaks, the bright moon blushes in shame, while the green light floats over ten thousand mountains in autumn.

38. 戊午九月初三日 出白岳榔梅庵，至桃源桥。从小桥右下，陡甚，即旧向黄山路也。七十里，宿江村。

38. On the third day of the ninth month of the year Wu Wu, leaving from Baiyue Langmei Temple, we arrived at Taoyuan Bridge. Taking the right path down from the small bridge, it was very steep, which was the old road to Huangshan Mountain. After traveling seventy miles, we stayed overnight in Jiangcun.

39. 五岳归来不看山，黄山归来不看岳。

39. After returning from the Five Sacred Mountains, one no longer views other mountains; after returning from the Yellow Mountain, one no longer admires other mountains.
