4. In the days of my memory in Suzhou, I was often familiar with the summer solstice feast. The aroma of the zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) mingled with the tenderness of bamboo shoots, while the crispy and fresh roast goose was a treat.

5. 毕竟西湖六月中，风光不与四时同。接天莲叶无穷碧，映日荷花别样红。

5. After all, in the middle of June at West Lake, the scenery is not the same as in any other season. The lotus leaves stretch endlessly to the sky, their greenness boundless, while the lotus flowers reflect the sun in a unique red.

10. When you arrive in Suzhou, you'll find that every household is by the river. Ancient palaces have little unused land, and water alleys are filled with small bridges. At night, the night market sells lotus roots and water chestnuts, and in spring, boats carry fine silks and brocades. From a distance, one knows that the moon is still shining bright, as homesickness is sung in the fisherman's songs.

11. 残霞夕照西湖好，花坞苹汀，十顷波平，野岸无人舟自横。

11. The sunset glow paints West Lake beautifully, with blossoming orchards and reed flats, ten acres of calm waves, and a boat adrift alone on the wild shore.

12. 百里闻雷震，鸣弦暂辍弹。府中连骑出，江上待潮观。照日秋云迥，浮天渤澥宽。惊涛来似雪，一坐凛生寒。

12. The thunder's roar is heard a hundred miles away, the sound of strings momentarily ceases. From the mansion, knights ride out in a hurry, waiting on the river to watch the tide. The autumn clouds reflect the sun and are distant, the expanse of the sea above is vast. The roaring waves come like snow, sitting there fills one with cold.

13. 月落乌啼霜满天，江枫渔父对愁眠。姑苏城外寒山寺，夜半钟声到客船。

13. The moon sets, the crows cry, frost covers the sky, the fishing father and his boatmen sleep in sorrow. Outside the ancient city of Gusu, the Cold Mountain Temple, at midnight, its bell sounds to the guest ship.

14. 欲把西湖比西子，淡妆浓抹总相宜。

14. To compare West Lake to the beauty of Xi Zi, she is always charming with light or heavy makeup.

15. 为我踟蹰停酒盏，与君约略说杭州。山名天竺堆青黛，湖号钱唐泻绿油。大屋檐多装雁齿，小航船亦画龙头。所嗟水路无三百，官系何因得再游？

The mountain named Tianzhu piles up with dark green, and the lake known as Qiantang spills over with green oil. The large eaves are adorned with swan's teeth, and the small boats are painted with dragon heads. I lament that there's no water route of three hundred miles, and wonder why I can't visit again as an official?

16. 落乌啼霜满天，江枫渔火对愁眠。姑苏城外寒山寺，夜半钟声到客船。

16. The sound of the falling leaves whispers through the frost-filled sky, and the fishing boats by the river's reeds face the sleepless night. Just outside of Suzhou City lies the cold mountain temple, where at midnight the sound of the temple bell reaches the guest boat.

17. 山外青山楼外楼，西湖歌舞几时休。

17. Beyond the mountains, there are still greener mountains; beyond the buildings, there are still taller buildings. When will the music and dances around West Lake ever stop?

18. 春游之盛，西湖未能过也。

18. The grandeur of the spring outing cannot be surpassed by the West Lake.

19. 妓筵今夜别姑苏，客棹明朝向镜湖。莫泛扁舟寻范蠡，且随五马觅罗敷。

20. The officials hand over the seal one after another, and I lead the way in unveiling the curtain. We are all old here in this land, and together we continue to look eastward.

21. 水国多台榭，吴风尚管弦。每家皆有酒，无处不过船。

21. In the land of water, there are many pavilions and gardens, and the style of Wu still governs the musical instruments. Every household has wine, and there is no place that cannot be reached by boat.

22. 未能抛得杭州去，一半勾留是此湖。

22. Unable to throw Hangzhou away, half of the longing is for this lake.

23. 江南忆，最忆是杭州。山寺月中寻桂子，郡亭枕上看潮头。何日更重游。
