In the fleeting moments of time, what is the true meaning of life?

1. Suddenly, the world seemed to become dark and devoid of light, everything losing its colors.

2. With my grades at the time, it was impossible for me to pass the high school entrance exam. Add to that the family troubles and the blow of a broken relationship, I no longer wanted to stay in that place of sadness. So, with a few brothers, I came to the province I'm currently in and enrolled in a technical secondary school. At the new school, it was not just bad, but really bad. I remember saying to a few people in the dormitory that we can no longer just loaf around like before; we need to change, we must get better, or else we're ruined. Not long after I said this, someone knocked on the door, and the test came. Several students came in, asking where we were from and inviting us to join the alumni association, which was actually an invitation to join the school's so-called factions, and we had to pay money to be protected by them, or else we'd get beaten up. Dammit, was I someone who used to beat others and protect others? I couldn't let what I just said be as meaningless as farting, so I became rather tough... Enough said, it's too wordy.

10. During junior high, I fought every day, skipped classes, bullied classmates, played cards and smoked in class, basically not doing anything serious. Then, my parents divorced, and on top of that, my best friend at the time betrayed my first love, making me feel like the world had collapsed and my life had no meaning. In reality, I was also living without any meaning at that time, feeling confused and not conforming to the mainstream.

11. Throughout my technical secondary school years, I received dozens of honor certificates, gave several speeches, and progressed from a student union staff member to the vice president of the student union, class monitor and assistant principal, and assistant class teacher. 13. In the last fight, I was struck so hard that I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. According to the classmates who were there at the time, I was spitting foam from my mouth, having convulsions, and collapsed at the school gate. It happened to be a Friday when school was dismissed, and I guess that's when I became famous for my fight. I was in a coma in the hospital for a week and then lay in bed for over a month. I started taking medication, but it didn't work, and the doctors said that I needed to have my skull opened and the blood drained out. (When I regained consciousness, I had lost my memory, and the doctors said it was due to the pressure from the hematoma on the nerves.) When I was lying on the operating table, I had a moment of recollection of the brief life I had lived at that moment, and many moments that I didn't remember were especially vivid in my mind. When I woke up again, I knew that I had started to change. That's when I understood what it meant to have an epiphany!

15. Although the teacher didn't dislike me, he also didn't particularly like me. Until one time during a class meeting, the teacher called me up to speak, and I couldn't say a word, completely at a loss for what to say. The teacher said if I couldn't speak, I should stand there for ten minutes. The turning point was right there. I am a very sensitive person, and such a humiliating experience would have been no big deal if I had continued to act carelessly like before. But I had become a good student, both in terms of studying and behavior (I had stopped using profanity). How could I let myself be so humiliated? Later, I went to apply for a position in the student union to practice speaking. Starting from being afraid to knock on the doors of other classes, I eventually delivered a fluent and expressive speech in front of thousands of people in the school.

16. In the days that followed, I went to class early every day, diligently did my homework in the dormitory at night, never late, never skipped classes, never fought, never left early, never caused trouble, and always handed in my homework on time, paid attention to the lessons. I ranked third in the class in the final exam, received my first award certificate in life, and never felt so excited before. It was an unprecedented feeling. The teacher didn't dislike me, and neither did my classmates. I felt that the world was too beautiful, and my efforts finally paid off. In the end, the homeroom teacher said that everyone in the top ten and the bottom ten would have one class suspended, and this news instantly poured a bucket of cold water on me.
