2. Yang Heng sends Gongsun Qi back to Shu from Guilin. Guilin is shallow yet green, with trickling water partially revealing the stones. He is about to board a boat that touches the objects, temporarily halting his journey with a flying incense stick.

3. 城窄山将压，江宽地共浮。东南通绝域，西北有高楼。神护青枫岸，龙移白石湫。殊乡竟何祷，箫鼓不曾休。

3. The city is narrow, and the mountains are about to press down; the river is wide, and the land floats together. To the southeast lies a distant land; to the northwest, there stands a tall building. The god guards the bank of the green maple trees, and the dragon moves to the white stone spring. In this alien land, what prayer could one offer? The flute and drum never cease.

4. I have visited over a hundred cities in more than 80 countries around the world, and none are as beautiful as Guilin -- Nixon.

5. 南裔多山海，道里屡纡直。风波无程期，所忧动不测。

5. The southern region is abundant in mountains and seas, the road is winding and straight. The winds and waves have no fixed schedule, and the worry is about the unpredictable movements.

6. 君家桂林住，日伐桂枝炊。何事东堂树，年年待一枝。

6. Living in Guilin, your home, every day I chop off the osmanthus branches to cook. What for does the tree in the eastern hall stand, waiting for just one branch every year?

7. 东南通绝域，西北有高楼。神护青枫岸，龙移白石湫。

7. To the southeast lies the distant land, and to the northwest there stands a towering building. The divine protects the bank of the green maple, while the dragon moves to the white stone pool.

8. 山为两乡别，月带千里貌。羁谴同缯纶，僻幽闻虎豹。

8. The mountains divide two towns, the moon adorns the thousand-mile scenery. Bound and exiled, we share the same silk and thread, and in the secluded, we hear the roars of tigers and leopards.

9. 流光销道路，以此生嗟辛。万里阔分袂，相思杳难申。

9. The flowing light fades the path, thus I sigh with sorrow. Across the vast miles, we part ways, and my longing love is hard to express.

12. 渡远千峰外，轻舟八桂临。象山浮水月，芦笛逸清音。九马丹青画，一江烟雨琴。秋风邀夜月，夜月作诗吟。

12. Beyond a thousand peaks, a light boat arrives at the eight Zhu. The Xiangshan floats with the moon in the water, the Ludi leaves behind a clear sound. Nine horses are painted on the vermilion scrolls, and a river of mist and rain plays the zither. The autumn wind invites the night moon, and the night moon composes poetry in its singing.

13. 水作青罗带，山如碧玉簪未若独秀者，峨峨郛邑间。

13. The water flows like a green sash, the mountains resemble emerald hairpins; nothing compares to the solitary brilliance in the grand city expanse.

14. 释义：那里的江河蜿蜒曲折，清澈见底，犹若青罗之带；那里的山峰拔地而起，峻峭玲珑，有如碧玉之簪。

14. Interpretation: The rivers there wind and meander, crystal clear with the bottom visible, just like green silk ribbons; the mountains rise abruptly from the ground, steep and exquisite, as if adorned with jade hairpins.

15. What I have heard before is much, and what I have gained now exceeds it. How can I need anything else, it makes me feel anxious and worried.

21. 空馀蝉嘒嘒，犹向客依依。村小犬相护，沙平僧独归。

21. Empty and quiet, cicadas chirp continuously, still lingering fondly to the guest. Villagers' dogs guard each other, and a monk walks alone on the level sand.

22. 患足已不学，既学患不行。子今四美具，实大华亦荣。

22. The foot of the patient has already stopped learning; even if learned, the patient is not good at putting it into practice. Now that you have the four beauties, it is indeed a great honor and glory.

23. 白话译文：郁郁苍苍繁荣茂盛的八桂之地，此地就在湘南。那里的江都像一条青青的纱罗衣带，山犹如一枚碧玉头簪。

23. Literal Translation: The lush and prosperous eight-fruit land, covered with dense greenery, is located in southern Hunan. The river there resembles a green silk sari, and the mountains look like jade hairpins.

30. The Chu guest drinks alone on a solitary boat, the waters of Yue will guide the oar. The mountains separate the two hometowns, the moon carries the appearance of a thousand miles. Bound and exiled, we share the same silk and fishing line. In a secluded place, we hear the roar of tigers and leopards. The cold color of Guilin remains, enduring hardship shows where one's loyalty lies.

31. 白话译文：感叹桂林的山水秀美，连神仙也宁愿下凡在桂林生活，不愿呆在天上了。

31. Literal Translation: Exclaiming over the beautiful scenery of Guilin, even the immortals would prefer to descend to live in Guilin rather than stay in heaven.

32. Interpretation: The peaks stand like giants encircling the earth, and the Li River wraps around Guilin City like a graceful dancer.

37. 寤寐想风采，于今已三年。不意流窜路，旬日同食眠。

37. Dreaming of your elegance, it has been three years now. Unexpectedly, on the road of wandering, we have eaten and slept together for ten days.

38. 嶷嶷桂林伯，矫矫义勇身。生平所未识，待我逾交亲。

38. The dignified Guilin Bo, resolute in righteousness and courage. Throughout my life, I've never known such a person, and yet, he treats me like a close relative.

39. 桂林山水甲天下，阳朔堪称甲桂林。

39. Guilin's scenery is the best under heaven, and Yangshuo is renowned as the best in Guilin.

40. 何氏之从学，兰蕙已满畹。于何玩其光，以至岁向晚。

40. The pursuit of learning by the He family has already filled the garden with orchids and jasmines. In what way do they play with its light, until the year approaches its end.

41. 瘴雨欲来枫树黑，火云初起荔枝红。愁君路远销年月，莫滞三湘五岭中。

41. The poison rain is about to come, the maple trees turn dark; the fiery clouds are rising, the lychees turn red. I worry about your distant journey, wasting years and months, don't linger in the three Xiang and five Ling regions.

42. 殊乡竟何祷，箫鼓不曾休。 李商隐桂林路中作 地暖无秋色，江晴有暮晖。

42. What prayer could a stranger offer, the flutes and drums never cease? —Li Shangyin, while traveling on the road to Guilin The ground is warm, without the autumn color, and the river is clear with evening glow.

43. 客心仍在楚，江馆复临湘。别意猿鸟外，天寒桂水长。

43. The guest's heart still lies in Chu, and the river inn approaches Xiang. The parting sentiment is beyond the monkeys and birds, while the cold weather extends along the Gui River.

44. 何事东堂树，年年待一枝。 王昌龄送高三之桂林 留君夜饮对潇湘，从此归舟客梦长。

44. What matters is the tree in the eastern hall, waiting for a branch every year. Wang Changling sends Gao San to Guilin. Leaving you for a night of drinking by the Xiangxiang, from then on the dream of the traveler returning by boat is long.

49. You are the outstanding talent of Lanlin, your eloquence surprises the common folk. Shining descendants of the phoenix pool, even a single feather is now renewed.

50. 欲成西北望，又见鹧鸪飞。 义净玄逵律师言离广府还望桂林去留怆然自述赠怀 标心之梵宇，运想入仙洲。

50. Seeking to look to the northwest, I see partridges flying. Yi Jing Xuanwei the lawyer said, after leaving Guangfu, he looked back towards Guilin and felt melancholic, expressing his own feelings in a gift of poetry. The scenery reflects the luster of dew, and the snow-like blossoms rise against the clear blue sky. The flowers and butterflies continue to arrive, as the mountain light warms into the evening.

60. At dusk, the misty clouds over Cangwu, my longing thoughts are vainly furrowed on my brow. I too set sail with a smoking oar, floating westward to the waters of Pengli.

61. 子兮独如何，能自媚婉娩。金石出声音，宫室发关楗。

61. Ah, you alone, how can you be so charming and graceful? The sound of metal and stone resounds, and the doors and bolts of the palace creak.

66. Interpretation: The mountains are stacked in the water, and the water reflects the mountains. Not a single mountain fails to captivate, nor does any body of water fail to attract.
