12. Not knowing the twists and turns of the road, I point southward to the moon and the array of stars.
13. 悲莫悲兮生别离,乐莫乐兮新相知。
13. The sorrow is the greatest when life separates us, the joy is the greatest when we meet someone new.
14. 世溷浊而不清:蝉翼为重,千钧为轻;黄钟毁弃,瓦釜雷鸣;谗人高张,贤士无名。
14. The world is muddy and not clear: The wings of the cicada are heavy, and a thousand jin is light; the Yellow Bell is discarded, and the earthen pot resounds like thunder; the slanderers are highly exalted, and the virtuous men are nameless.

15. In the morning, I drink the dew that falls from the magnolia, and in the evening, I dine on the fallen petals of the autumn chrysanthemum.

18. At first, we had agreed upon it, but then you regretted and retreated with others. I am not averse to parting, but I am saddened by the repeated transformations of the soul.
19. 澹然而自乐兮,吸众气而翱翔。念我长生而久仙兮,不如反余之故乡。
19. Tranquil and content within myself, I inhale the essence of all the gases and soar. Thinking of my eternal longevity and immortality, it is better to return to my native land.
20. 诚既勇兮又以武,终刚强兮不可凌。身既死兮神以灵,魂魄毅兮为鬼雄。
20. With courage and martial prowess, he remains resolute and unyielding. Though his body has perished, his spirit remains divine. His soul and spirit are valiant, making him a hero among ghosts.

25. The son of the emperor descends upon the northern shore, and my eyes grow dim with sorrow. The autumn wind is gentle, and the waves of Dongting Lake are beneath the falling leaves.
26. 鸟飞反故乡兮,狐死必首丘。
26. Birds fly back to their hometowns, foxes die with their heads toward their mountains.
27. 世溷浊莫吾知,人心不可谓兮。
27. The world is chaotic and no one knows me, the hearts cannot be said.
28. 抚槛兮远望,念君兮不忘。
28. Gazing upon the railing, I look afar, and think of you, never to forget.
29. 青春受谢,白日昭只。春气奋发,万物遽只。
29. Youth is thanked, the daylight is clear. The spring spirit is vigorous, all things are advancing rapidly.

30. Knowing that the path ahead is blocked, I have not altered this course.

36. May the years pass together, with long-lasting friends.
37. 路漫漫其修远兮,吾将上下而求索。
37. The path is long and the journey is arduous, yet I will strive to seek and explore both the heights and the depths.

38. If there be someone in the groves of the mountain, clad in bittersweet and draped in mossy vines.
39. 与女游兮九河,冲风起兮水扬波。
39. Travel with a girl through the Nine Rivers, where the gusty wind arises, waves on the water.
40. 雷填填兮雨冥冥,猿啾啾兮狖夜鸣。风飒飒兮木萧萧,思公子兮徒离忧。
40. The rain is heavy and dark, monkeys chirp and monkeys howl at night. The wind is whistling and the trees are rustling, thinking of the prince, I can only feel sorrow.
41. 扈江离与辟芷兮,纫秋兰以为佩。
41. Accompanying Jiangli and Bixi, I weave autumn orchids to wear as a pendant.
42. 风飒飒兮木萧萧,思公子兮徒离忧。
42. The wind howls, the trees rustle, longing for the prince, yet only sorrow comes.

43. The sadness is most profound when life parts us, the joy is greatest in the new.
44. 思灵泽兮一膏沐,怀兰英兮把琼若,待天明兮立踯躅。
44. Adorned with divine grace, a balm bathed my brow, holding the fragrant orchid petals, a jade-like gem in my hand, waiting for dawn to stand steadfastly.
45. 悯晨夜之摧挫,感春秋之欲暮。征夫辍而在位,御者局而载顾。
45. Pity the setbacks of dawn and dusk, feel the approaching end of spring and autumn. The soldier stops and takes his post, the driver turns around and looks back.
46. 惟草木之零落兮,恐美人之迟暮。
46. Alas, the withering of the grass and trees, I fear the decline of the beauty of the fair maidens.
47. 悲哉,秋之为气也!萧瑟兮,草木摇落而变衰。
47. Alas, the essence of autumn! Depressing and desolate, the trees and grasses wither and fall, transforming into decay.
48. 长太息以掩涕兮,哀民生之多艰。

55. The wind howls, the trees rustle, longing for the prince, yet no words are spoken.
56. 其曲弥高,其和弥寡。
56. The higher the curve, the fewer the harmonies.
57. 民生各有所乐兮,余独好修以为常。虽体解吾犹未变兮,岂余心之可惩。
57. Each person has their own joy in life, but I alone take the cultivation of virtue as my usual pursuit. Although my body may be worn out, my spirit has not changed; how can my heart be punished?
58. 进不入以离尤兮,退将复修吾初服。制芰荷以为衣兮,集芙蓉以为裳。
58. Unable to enter, I will retreat and restore my original attire. I will make garments from lotus leaves, and robes from lotus flowers.
59. 涕泣交而凄凄兮,思不眠以至曙。
59. The tears mix with sobs, and the sorrow is profound; thoughts prevent sleep until the dawn breaks.
