12. To be so determined that one forgets to eat; to be so joyful that one forgets one's worries; not even aware that old age is approaching. Translation: When determined, one forgets to eat; when happy, one forgets one's worries. One is even unaware that old age is approaching.
13. 后生可畏,焉知来者之不如今也。 译文:年轻人是值得敬服的,怎么知道将来的人们不如现在的人呢?
13. The young are formidable; how can one know that those to come will not be as good as those now? Translation: The youth are worthy of respect; how can one know that the people of the future will not be as good as those of today?
14. 四海之内皆兄弟。 译文:(君子只要认真谨慎,没有过失,对人恭敬而有礼貌)天下的人都是兄弟。

45. To associate with the non-existent is to truly associate, to act for the non-existent is to truly act. It is about making connections in the midst of non-connection, and acting in the midst of non-action. Friendship should aim for connections that arise from non-intentionality and help that comes from non-action. This is what is known as the most intimate of friendships.
46. 仕而优则学,学而优则仕。 译文:做官要做得好,就应该学习;学习好了才可以做官。
46. If one excels in serving as an official, one should pursue learning; and if one excels in learning, one can become an official. Translation: To excel in the role of an official, one should engage in learning; and only after mastering learning can one serve as an official.
47. 过也,人皆见之;及其更也,人皆仰之。 译文:子贡说:过错,人们都看得见;等到他改正了,人们都会仰望他。
47. "When a person makes a mistake, everyone can see it; but once they correct it, everyone looks up to them." - Zigong said: "When a person commits a mistake, everyone can see it; and when they rectify it, everyone admires them."
48. 知者不惑,仁者不忧,勇者不惧。 译文:聪明人不会迷惑,有仁德的人不会忧愁,勇敢的人不会畏惧。

53. 名也者,相轧也;知也者,争之器。二者凶器,非所以尽行也。 译文:名是相互倾轧的原因;智是相互斗争的手段。两者是凶器,是不可以尽行的。
53. A name is the cause of mutual contention; knowledge is the instrument of dispute. Both are instruments of mischief, not to be used to the fullest extent.
54. 君子合而不同,小人同而不合。 译文:君子讲求和谐而不盲从附和;小人,同流合污而不能和谐。

68. 不以物挫志。译文因外物而扰乱自己的心志(这样,德性就没有了。可玩物丧志。
