At the moment of their death, Amitabha Buddha and all the holy beings appear before them. At the moment of their death, their minds do not wander, and they will be reborn in the Pure Land of Amitabha. Shariputra, I see the benefits in this, so I speak these words. One is too undervalued, almost to the point of torture, believing that since the body is 'impure,' there is no need to attach importance to it, and thus ignoring the fact that the body is a 'carrier of the path.' In reality, as long as one properly utilizes the functions of the body, not only can one achieve great success in life, but the path to enlightenment will not be far away.

59. Reciting the merits of Amitabha Buddha is a hundred thousand times more than reciting those of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. How do we know this? According to the "Sutra of Avalokiteshvara," one person who offered to sixty-two billion grains of sand in the Ganges River was not as meritorious as a single act of worshiping and venerating Avalokiteshvara. The "Sutra of the Ten Wheels" states, 'One hundred eons of reciting Avalokiteshvara is not as meritorious as a single meal's time of reciting Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.' The "Treatise on the Diverse Doubts" says, 'One eon of reciting Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is not as meritorious as a single recitation of Amitabha Buddha.' Why is this so? Because the Buddha is the King of Dharma, and the Bodhisattvas are the ministers of Dharma. Just as a king must be followed by his ministers when he goes out, the Buddha's great power encompasses the lesser. The Buddha has achieved the full fruit of enlightenment and transcends all positions, so the merit accumulated through recitation is the greatest, a hundred thousand times more than that of Ksitigarbha. Since the Bodhisattvas have not yet reached the Buddha's position and their fruit is not yet complete, their merit is the least.

61. Everyone who follows a good doctor knows that all beings have birth, old age, illness, and death. As long as there is a body, there will be suffering. The Buddha once said, "I am like a good doctor, who knows the illness and prescribes the medicine; whether or not one takes the medicine is not the fault of the doctor." Knowing that there is an illness, one should follow the diagnosis and treatment of a good doctor to alleviate physical suffering.
62. Furthermore, O Subhuti, if in the future world, there are kings and Brahmins, etc., who encounter ancient Buddha pagodas or images of scriptures that are damaged and dilapidated, and are able to generate a mind to repair them. These kings and others, either do it themselves or encourage others, up to ten thousand people, to make offerings and accumulate merits. These kings and others will, in a thousand lifetimes, always be reborn as wheel-turning kings. And those who make offerings together with them will, in a thousand lifetimes, always be reborn as lesser kings. Moreover, if they can generate a mind of repentance and dedication in front of the pagodas, then both the kings and all others will attain the Buddha path. The recompense for this is immeasurable and boundless.
63. Only through life and death can one understand the importance of health; only through gains and losses can one comprehend the value of simplicity and detachment. Be a simple and authentic self, and when your mind is at peace, that is the most beautiful state of being alive. Every matter has its answer; instead of being troubled, it's better to go with the flow. Don't wait until you are unable to change things before you decide to go with the flow; don't let yourself be forced to adapt to circumstances just because you have nothing to rely on. There's no need to envy others; living one's own life in accordance with nature is true happiness.
