32. 却见她已经开始弹奏,正是《高山流水》,他无数次弹给子期听的曲子!他不曾知道妻子的琴艺竟是如此之高,远在自己之上!时而玉拨金鸣,如大江东去,万马奔腾。时而灵动婉约,如小桥流水,燕过柳梢。一曲奏罢,万籁俱寂。
32. But to his surprise, she had already begun to play the guqin, and it was "The Sound of the High Mountains and Flowing Waters," the piece he had played countless times for Ziqi to hear! He had never known that his wife's musical skills were so high, far surpassing his own! Sometimes, the jade plectrum struck the strings, producing a sound like the great river flowing eastward, with ten thousand horses galloping. At other times, the music was delicate and graceful, like a small bridge over a flowing stream, with swallows flying over the willow branches. After the piece was finished, all sounds ceased.

49. One year, Yu Boya was sent by the King of Jin to serve as an ambassador to the State of Chu. On the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, he arrived at the mouth of the Han Yang River by boat. He encountered storms and anchored at the foot of a small mountain. That night, the wind and waves gradually calmed down, the clouds cleared, and the moon emerged, creating a very charming scene. Gazing at the bright moon in the sky, Yu Boya was inspired to play the guqin, so he took out the instrument he had brought with him and played it with full concentration.

When the boat approached a high mountain, it suddenly started to rain heavily, and the boat stopped at the mountain's edge to shelter from the rain. Boya, listening to the dripping rain, and watching the vivid scene of rain hitting the river surface, felt an urge to play the guqin. While he was immersed in playing, he suddenly felt an unusual tremble in the strings of the guqin, which was a spiritual connection between the musician, indicating that someone nearby was listening to the music. Boya stepped out of the boat, and indeed, he saw a woodcutter named Zhong Ziqi sitting beside a forest on the shore.
