1. 71许多人所谓的成熟,不过是被习俗磨去了棱角,变得世故而实际了。那不是成熟,而是精神的早衰和个性的消亡。真正的成熟,应当是独特个性的形成,真实自我的发现,精神上的结果和丰收。
1. Many people所谓的成熟,is actually just the edges being worn down by convention, becoming worldly and practical. That is not true maturity, but the early senescence of the spirit and the disappearance of personality. True maturity should be the formation of a unique personality, the discovery of the true self, and the result and harvest of the spirit.
2. 唐虞三代,若何之郅治;秦皇汉武,若何之雄杰;汉唐来之文学,若何之隆盛;康乾间之武功。若何之煊赫!
2. How did the Three Dynasties of Tang and Yu achieve their prosperity? How did Emperor Qin and Emperor Wu of Han demonstrate their prowess? How did the literature of the Han and Tang Dynasties thrive? And how辉煌 were the military achievements during the reigns of Kangxi and Qianlong?
3. 勿感于时,勿伤于怀勿耽美色,勿沉虚妄从今,进取!
3. Do not be affected by the times, do not let it hurt your heart, do not indulge in beauty, and do not be immersed in illusion. From now on, strive forward!
4. 勇者愤怒,抽刃向更强者;怯者愤怒,却抽刃向更弱者。
4. The brave man's anger is directed at the stronger; the coward's anger is directed at the weaker.
5. 道是天下人的公道。生命的意义不在**上,自性是光明的,不要被四大牵着走,不要玩弄四大。

7. ldquo;理是哲学的,完全哲学的,这一部分很重要,《易经》讲宇宙天人之间的原理,是哲学的科学。第二个是象,一切的现象,宇宙万物的现象。数,这个里头包含最高的数理学,还不是一般的数学。譬如医学,现在研究的是医理学;所谓数理学是数学哲学的科学。

For example, in medicine, what is currently studied is medical theory; so-called mathematical science is the science of mathematical philosophy.
8. 人有三个基本错误是不能犯的:一是德薄而位尊,二是智小而谋大,三是力小而任重。

The significance of reading is perhaps to read with the insights gained from life, and to live with the knowledge acquired from reading.
11. 此所以我们过去的文化历史,始终在帝王专制政体中,内用黄老,外示儒术的一个模式之下,度过了两千多年。也使孔孟的道统精神,依草附木式地攀附在帝王政体之下,绵延存续了两千多年。

Therefore, our past cultural history has always been under a pattern of imperial autocratic rule, where internally we followed the teachings of Huang-Lao and externally demonstrated Confucianism, and has lasted for over two thousand years. This has also allowed the spiritual tradition of Confucius and Mencius to climb and依附 on the imperial political system in a parasitic manner, enduring and continuing for over two thousand years.
12. 人生不过如此,且行且珍惜。自己永远是自己的主角,不要总在别人的戏剧里充当着配角。
12. Life is just like this, cherish every step you take. You are always the protagonist of your own story, don't always play the role of a supporting character in others' dramas.
13. 好多年来,我曾有过一个“良好”的愿望:我对每个人都好,也希望每个人都对我好。只望有誉,不能有毁。最近我恍然大悟,那是根本不可能的。
13. For many years, I had a "good" wish: I wanted to be kind to everyone, and I also hoped that everyone would be kind to me. I only wished for praise and could not tolerate any criticism. Recently, I've realized with a jolt that it's simply impossible.
14. 英雄与圣贤的分别:英雄能够征服天下,不能征服自己,圣贤不想去征服天下,而征服了自己;英雄是将自己的烦恼交给别人去挑起来,圣人自己挑尽了天下人的烦恼。这是我们中国文化的传统精神,希望每个人能完成圣贤的责任,才能成为伟大的**家。
14. The Difference between Heroes and Sages: Heroes can conquer the world but cannot conquer themselves, while sages do not seek to conquer the world but conquer themselves. Heroes delegate their troubles to others to bear, while sages bear the troubles of all people themselves. This is the traditional spirit of Chinese culture. We hope that everyone can fulfill the responsibilities of sages and thus become great **masters**.
15. 人生在世,还不是有时笑笑人家,有时给人家笑笑。
15. In life, isn't it sometimes about laughing at others, and sometimes about giving others a laugh?
16. 所谓天堂地狱与因果轮回,皆此一心坚固妄想之所建立。
16. So-called heaven and hell, as well as the cycle of cause and effect, are all established by the firm delusion of this one mind.
17. 生活是种律动,须有光有影,有左有右,有晴有雨,滋味就含在这变而不猛的曲折里。
17. Life is a rhythm, with light and shadow, left and right, sunny and rainy. The taste is contained in this gentle yet not mild twist and turn.
18. 我之所谓生存,并不是苟活,所谓温饱,不是奢侈,所谓发展,也不是放纵。
18. By what I mean by survival, it is not merely to survive; by what I mean by comfort and sufficiency, it is not luxury; and by what I mean by development, it is not indulgence.
19. 你能不取于相,魔也是佛;著相了,佛也是魔。
19. If you do not cling to the form, demons can also be Buddhas; if you cling to the form, even the Buddha can become a demon.
20. 人生的最高境界是佛为心,道为骨,儒为表,大度看世界。技在手,能在身,思在脑,从容过生活。
20. The highest level of life is to have the Buddha as the heart, the Tao as the bone, Confucianism as the exterior, and a great tolerance in viewing the world. Skills in hand, abilities in the body, thoughts in the brain, and living life with composure.
21. 能控制早晨的人,方可控制人生。一个人如果连早起都做不到,你还指望他这一天能做些什么呢?
21. One who can control the morning can control life. If a person cannot even get up early, what can you expect him to accomplish in a day?
22. 如果从学术上的观点来讲,既然美与丑、善与恶,都是形而下人为的相对假立,根本即无绝对标准。那么,建立起一个善的典型,那个善便会为人利用,成为作恶多端的挡箭牌了。
22. From an academic perspective, since beauty and ugliness, good and evil, are all relative artificial constructions of the lower level, there is fundamentally no absolute standard. Therefore, if a typical example of goodness is established, that goodness will be exploited by people, becoming a shield for those who do many wrongs.
23. 世界上无论什么名誉,什么地位,什么幸福,什么尊荣,都比不上待在母亲身边,即使她一字也不识。
23. No matter what fame, status, happiness, or honor one may have in the world, it cannot compare to being by one's mother's side, even if she cannot read a single word.
24. 生活不能等待别人来安排,要自己去争取和奋斗;而不论其结果是喜是悲,但可以慰藉的是,你总不枉在这世界上活了一场。
24. Life cannot wait for others to arrange; one must strive and fight for it oneself. And whether the outcome is joyful or sorrowful, what can console us is that you have not lived in vain in this world.
25. 我们学佛,不但要通达佛经,连世间的一切知识技能也要通,在家是好子女、好父母,在社会是真正有贡献的人,这样可以算学佛。?>
25. To study Buddhism, one must not only understand Buddhist scriptures but also be proficient in all worldly knowledge and skills. As a family member, one should be a good child and parent; in society, one should be a truly contributive person. This can be considered as studying Buddhism.
26. 人生最大的这里是把握好:进退得失存亡。
26. The greatest thing in life is to grasp: advancement, retreat, gain, loss, survival, and extinction.
27. 禅宗不但不立文字,而且以无相、无门为门,换言之,禅宗也是以无境界为境界,摆脱宗教形式主义,而着重禅法修证的真正精神,升华人生的意境,而进入纯清绝点、空灵无相而无不是相的境界。
27. The Zen school not only does not establish texts, but takes formlessness and no gates as its gates. In other words, Zen also regards the absence of realms as the realm, frees itself from religious formalism, and focuses on the true spirit of Zen practice, elevating the connotation of life, and entering a pure, serene, formless realm where nothing is not a form.

30. 悲剧将人生的有价值的东西毁灭给人看,喜剧将那无价值的撕破给人看。
30. Tragedy shows the destruction of valuable things in life, while comedy tears apart the valueless for people to see.
31. 穷归穷,绝不愁,如果又穷又愁,这就划不来,变成穷愁潦倒就冤得很。
31. Poor as I may be, I will never be anxious. It wouldn't make sense to be both poor and anxious; that would be a real injustice, to become destitute and in despair.
32. 佛学叫这个世界娑婆世界,译为堪忍,说我们这个世界是缺陷的世界。《易经》也说这个世界是缺陷的,让你有钱就不给你学问,有学问就没有钱;给你子孙满堂,就不给你别样了,所以总是有缺陷不圆满的。
32. Buddhism refers to this world as the Saha World, which translates to 'endurable,' implying that our world is one of defects. The Book of Changes also states that this world is defective, where if you have wealth you are not given knowledge, and if you have knowledge, you lack wealth; if you are blessed with numerous descendants, you are not granted anything else. Therefore, there is always a sense of defectiveness and incompleteness.
33. 沉默有一种特别的力量,当一切喧嚣静息下来之后,它仍然在工作着,穿透可见或不可见的间隔,直达人心的最深处。
33. Silence possesses a peculiar power; after all the commotion has ceased, it still works, piercing through visible or invisible gaps,直达the deepest recesses of the human heart.
34. 世界上真理只有一个,无二亦无三,只是东西方在表达方式上有些不同罢了。
34. There is only one truth in the world, no two or three, but there are some differences in the ways of expression between the East and the West.
35. 三千年读史,不外功名利禄;九万里悟道,终归诗酒田园。
35. Reading history for three thousand years is all about honor, wealth, and fame; seeking the way for ninety thousand miles, in the end, returns to poetry, wine, and the countryside.
36. 英雄能够征服天下,不能征服自己;圣贤不想征服天下,而征服了自己。
36. Heroes can conquer the world, but they cannot conquer themselves; sages do not wish to conquer the world, but they conquer themselves.
37. 我除了依照佛经以外,拿我几十年摸索的经验,诚恳地告诉各位,你真达到正身、正意,没有一个身体不能转化;没有病去不掉的;没有身心不会健康的。正身、正意做到了,身心两方面绝对地健康,可以返老还童。因为一切唯心所造,这是真的,就是正身、正意四个字。
37. Apart from following the Buddhist scriptures, I sincerely share with you my decades of experience in exploration: if you truly achieve the correct physical posture and correct intention, there is no body that cannot be transformed; no illness that cannot be cured; no body and mind that cannot be healthy. When you have achieved the correct physical posture and correct intention, both the body and mind will be absolutely healthy, and you can revert back to youth. Because everything is created by the mind, this is the truth, and these are the four words: correct physical posture and correct intention.
38. 有器度、有见识的人,他虽然从艰苦困难中成长,反而更具有同情心和慷慨好义的胸襟怀抱。因为他懂得人生,知道世情的甘苦。
38. A person of caliber and insight, though he has grown from hardships and difficulties, is反而 even more compassionate and generous-hearted. This is because he understands life and knows the sweetness and bitterness of the world.
39. 心小了,所有的小事就大了;心大了,所有的大事都小了;看淡世事沧桑,内心安然无恙。
39. When the heart is small, all trivial matters seem great; when the heart is large, all great matters seem trivial. Look at the vicissitudes of life with detachment, and the mind remains unharmed.
40. 老话里讲:一等人忠臣孝子,两件事读书耕田。 俗话讲人老了三个特征:怕死爱钱没瞌睡。
40. As the old saying goes: The first-class people are loyal ministers and filial sons; the two important things are studying and farming. The common saying about old people is: fear of death, love of money, and no need for sleep.
41. 畏就是敬,人生无所畏,实在很危险。
41. Fear is respect; if one has nothing to fear in life, it is actually very dangerous.
42. 今天比昨天慈悲,今天比昨天智慧,今天比昨天快乐。这就是成功。
42. Being more compassionate than yesterday, wiser than yesterday, and happier than yesterday. This is success.
43. “ 活着”在我们中国的语言里充满了力量,它的力量不是来自于喊叫,也不是来自于进攻,而是忍受,去忍受生命赋予我们的责任,去忍受现实给予我们的幸福和苦难、无聊和平庸。
43. "Living" in our Chinese language is filled with strength, and its power does not come from shouting or attacking, but from endurance. It is about enduring the responsibilities life gives us, about enduring the happiness and suffering, boredom, and ordinariness that reality grants us.
44. 学问最难是平淡,安于平淡的人,什么事业都可以做。
44. The most difficult aspect of learning is to be content with the ordinary; those who are content with the ordinary can pursue any kind of career.
45. 能够说出的委屈,便不算委屈;能够抢走的爱人,便不算爱人。
45. The hurt that can be spoken out is not a real hurt; the love that can be stolen is not real love.
46. 真正有气质的淑女,从不炫耀她所拥有的一切,她不告诉人她读过什么书,去过什么地方,有多少件衣服,买过什么珠宝,因为她没有自卑感。
46. A truly elegant lady never boasts about everything she owns. She doesn't inform others about the books she has read, the places she has visited, the number of clothes she has, or the jewelry she has bought, because she has no sense of inferiority.
47. 雨下给富人,也下给穷人,下给义人,也下给不义的人;其实,雨并不公道,因为下落在一个没有公道的世界上。
47. The rain falls on the rich and the poor, on the righteous and the unrighteous alike; in fact, the rain is not just, for it falls in a world without justice.
48. 有一个方法,对于高血压、老年人、有病的人或失眠的人都有好处。上座,心里头什么都不想,只念一个空字,一路空下去,把神经都放松了,脑子也放松了,有人就用这个法子治好了紧张的毛病。
48. There is a method that is beneficial for those with hypertension, the elderly, the sick, or those suffering from insomnia. Sit in a high position, don't think about anything in your mind, just recite a blank character, go all the way with emptiness, relax the nerves, and also relax the mind. Some people have even cured their problem of being tense using this method.
49. 其实地上本没有路,走的人多了,也便成了路。
49. In fact, there was no road on the ground to begin with; it becomes a road as more people walk on it.
50. 每日所读之书,最好分两类;一类是精熟的,一类是涉览的;因为我们一面要养成读书心细的习惯,一面要养成读书眼快的习惯。心不细则毫无所得,等于白读;眼不快则时候不够用,不能博搜资料。
50. The books read every day should ideally be divided into two categories; one category is for in-depth study, and the other is for browsing; because we need to cultivate the habit of reading with attention to detail on one hand, and the habit of reading quickly with a wide scope on the other. Without attention to detail, one gets nothing from reading, which is equivalent to reading in vain; without quick reading, there is not enough time to gather a wide range of information.

51. Since reading Lengyan, I have not looked at any trashy books in the world.
52. 世界上的事情,最忌讳的就是个十全十美,你看那天上的月亮,一旦圆满了,马上就要亏厌;树上的果子,一旦熟透了,马上就要坠落。凡事总要稍留欠缺,才能持恒。
52. The most忌讳 thing in the world is to be perfect in everything. Look at the moon in the sky, once it is full, it will soon begin to wane; the fruits on the trees, once they are ripe, will soon fall. In all things, one must always leave a little room for imperfection in order to maintain longevity.
53. 我以为爱情可以填满人生的遗憾。然而,制造更多遗憾的。却偏偏是爱情。
53. I thought that love could fill the gaps in life's regrets. However, it is love itself that often creates more regrets.
54. 面对诬陷,不要反驳,不要申诉。不要企图与诬陷者对话,不要企图让旁观者怜悯。没有阴影的高楼,一定还未曾建造;没有藤缠的大树,一定还气节未到。
54. When faced with false accusations, do not argue or appeal. Do not attempt to dialogue with the accuser, nor try to elicit sympathy from onlookers. There can be no skyscrapers without shadows, and no large trees without vines must not have reached their period of resilience.
55. 那么什么是做人最高的艺术呢?就是不高也不低,不好也不坏,非常平淡,和其光,同其尘,平安地过一生,最为幸福。
55. So, what is the highest art of being a person? It is to be neither too high nor too low, neither good nor bad, very plain and simple, blending with its light, mingling with its dust, peacefully living through life, which is the most幸福.
56. 大度看世界。技在手,能在身,思在脑,从容过生活。三千年读史,不外功名利禄;九万里悟道,终归诗酒田园。
56. Embrace the world with a magnanimous perspective. Skill in hand, capability in body, thought in mind, live life with composure. Three thousand years of history reading, all boils down to success, wealth, fame, and禄; nine thousand miles of path seeking, ultimately returns to poetry, wine, and the countryside.
57. 声名,活着也许对自己有用,死后只能被人利用了。
57. Reputation may be useful to oneself while living, but after death, it can only be exploited by others.
58. 名场利场无非戏场,做得出泼天富贵;冷药热药总是妙药,医不尽遍地炎凉!
58. The world of fame and fortune is no different from a theater; only those who can act with great wealth and splendor can achieve it. Cold medicine and hot medicine are always effective; no matter how much is used, it can't heal the widespread coldness and warmth of the world!
59. 这是医学了,尤其是老年人、小孩子,跌倒了,他没有哭出来不要去抱他,也不要扶他,跌倒马上去扶起来就受伤了。
59. This is about medicine, especially for the elderly and children. If they fall, don't pick them up or support them right away. If you try to pick them up immediately after they fall, they might get injured.
60. 你如果认识从前的我,也许你会原谅现在的我。
60. If you knew the old me, perhaps you would forgive the current me.
61. 历史上的人名和地名,都是真的,但有许多事实,大多数已经走了样,甚之,完全变质。而小说中人名和地名,大多数是假托的,可是那些故事的内容,却几乎都是真的。只不过再经文人的手笔,加以渲染剪裁而已。
61. The names of people and places in history are all real, but many facts have been distorted, and even worse, completely altered. As for the names of people and places in novels, most are fictional, yet the content of the stories is almost all true. It is just that after the intervention of literati, they have been colored and edited.
62. 不乱于心,不困于情。不畏将来,不念过往。如此,安好。
62. Do not let confusion govern your heart, do not be ensnared by emotions. Fear not the future, and do not dwell on the past. In this way, live in peace.
63. 才不足则多谋。识不足则多虑。威不足则多怒。信不足则多言。勇不足则多劳。明不足则多察。理不足则多辩。情不足则多仪。
63. If one lacks talent, they tend to overcompensate with cunning. If one lacks wisdom, they tend to worry excessively. If one lacks authority, they tend to be easily angry. If one lacks trustworthiness, they tend to speak too much. If one lacks courage, they tend to overwork. If one lacks insight, they tend to be overly cautious. If one lacks understanding, they tend to argue excessively. If one lacks emotion, they tend to overdo formalities.
64. 谦卑的心是宛如野草小花的心,不取笑外面的世界,也不在意世界的嘲讽。
64. A humble heart is like the heart of wild grass and small flowers, neither mocking the outside world nor taking offense at the world's taunts.
65. 51人生须知负责任的苦处,才能知道有尽责的乐趣。
65. One must experience the bitterness of being responsible in life to understand the joy of fulfilling one's duties.
66. 读书多了,容颜自然改变,许多时候,自己可能以为许多看过的书籍都成了过眼云烟,不复记忆,其实他们仍是潜在的。在气质里,在谈吐上,在胸襟的无涯,当然也可能显露在生活和文字里。
66. Reading extensively can naturally change one's appearance. Many times, one might think that many of the books read have become a passing cloud, and are no longer remembered. In fact, they are still latent. They can be seen in one's temperament, in their manner of speaking, in the boundless breadth of their thoughts, and of course, they may also manifest themselves in one's life and writing.
67. 人的天性便是这般凉薄,只要拿更好的来换,一定舍得。
67. The nature of humans is inherently indifferent like this; as long as they can be exchanged for something better, they are willing to let go.
68. 自信与骄傲有异;自信者常沉着,而骄傲者常浮扬。
68. Confidence is different from pride; those who are confident are usually composed, while those who are proud are often pompous.
69. 失去的东西,其实从来未曾真正地属于你,也不必惋惜。

70. 一粒沙里看出世界, 一朵野花里见天国, 在你掌中盛住无限, 一时间里便是永结。
70. In a grain of sand, you can see the world; in a wild flower, you can see the kingdom. Held in your palm is infinity, and in a moment, it is eternally bound.
71. 在我个人的理想与希望来说,修一条地方干道的铁路不过是人生义所当为的事而已。我们真要做的事,是要为子孙后代修一条人走的道路,那是大家真要做的大事业。什么是人走的路呢,让我借用宋儒张横渠先生的四句话来说。便是,为天地立心,为生民立命,为往圣继绝学,为万世开太平。
71. In terms of my personal ideals and hopes, building a railway for a local trunk road is merely a matter that one should do out of a sense of duty in life. What we truly need to do is to build a path for the descendants, which is a great undertaking that everyone should strive for. What is a path for people to walk on? Let me borrow four sentences from the Song Dynasty philosopher Zhanghengquan to express it: to establish a heart for heaven and earth, to secure the destiny of the people, to carry on the lost learning of the ancients, and to bring peace to the world for ten thousand generations.
72. 我和谁都不争,和谁争我都不屑。简朴的生活、高贵的灵魂是人生的至高境界。
72. I don't quarrel with anyone, and I find no one worth arguing with. A simple life and a noble soul are the ultimate state of life.
73. 能够成为一个生命,神和气很重要。道家讲精气神,什么是精呢?刚才已经讲过,不要认识错了,全身的细胞、能量,都是精,精气神要合一。
73. To become a life form, the essence and the qi are very important. Taoism speaks of the three treasures: jing, qi, and shen. What is jing? As mentioned just now, do not misunderstand; all the cells and energy in the body are jing, and the jing, qi, and shen should be unified.

75. 以“淡”字交友,以“聋”字止谤,以“刻”字责己。
75. Make friends with the word "dilute," stop slander with the word "deaf," and hold oneself accountable with the word "carve."
76. 学医的人真要有一种菩萨心肠,一种济世救人的精神,而且不怕贫穷,不怕艰苦,那才是真正研究生命科学,真正的学医。
76. Those who study medicine truly need to have a compassionate heart like that of a bodhisattva, a spirit of benefiting the world and saving people, and not fear poverty or hardship. That is the true pursuit of life science and the true study of medicine.
77. 智慧不是财产或世间福德所能换来的,是要多生累积福德来的。
77. Wisdom cannot be purchased with property or worldly blessings; it requires the accumulation of virtues over many lifetimes.
78. 百年奇特几张纸,千古英雄一窖尘。唯有炳然周孔教,至今仁义洽生民。

On the contrary, those with breadth of mind and insight, though they grow up in hardships and difficulties, possess a greater sense of sympathy and a generous and just-hearted demeanor. This is because they understand life and know the sweetness and bitterness of the world.
